Great review, all the things you said remind me of my zoom fly 3, not much changed then. It took me a while to get accustomed to them, it was like running on platforms at first but now I love them for park runs, tempo runs, and intervals.

Yes, just an upper change for these guys! If you enjoyed the 3’s then I think you’d like these even more. That’s if your not tempted by what else has come to the market since then which I suspect many people will be. Thanks for you comment Leon

After trying the Vaporfly and Speed, then going back to traditional shoes, Zoom Fly 3 continues to be my best 10k+ racer. 200lbs, flat foot, overpronator. So I'll be getting the ZF4 for next marathon. Nike needs to market this as a stability marathon shoe. Too many of you efficient neutral runners giving it a bad name. Haha!

So how is the F4 so far? My built is almost like yours and considering the F4.
@ptlewis2000
@ptlewis2000 Год назад
@@cjoe1950 Long story short, I wish I never played with other super shoes and stuck with the Zoom Fly 4 for half to Marathon, and Endorphin Pro 1/2 for 5k-10k. VaporFly, AlphaFly, and Endorphin Pro 3 are fast for a minute, but injured for a month. I have not tried Zoom Fly 5 as I have too many shoes and too injured to run many miles, but if it's not like the Zoom Fly 3/4 (not flyknit), I'll just go back to racing in the DS Trainer and stay away from super cushioned carbon plated shoes. (That's after I go through all my Zoom Fly 4's and Endorphin Pro's). My fastest Half and Marathon as a Masters continue to be the ZF3/4 respectively after 4 marathons in 2 years. With the Endorphin Pro 2 seconds behind.

Good review. I wouldn't expect this to have the pop of a Alpha or Vapor Fly but rather as a bridge shoe for maybe tempo runs. It would be great if they replaced the React foam for Zoom foam.

Yes I agree! For a shoe that is advertised as being a shoe you can train and race in I was expecting a little bit more energy return. A 50/50 split of react and zoom x in this shoe would of taken it to the next level!

@r_unner_G
@r_unner_G 2 года назад
I'm about 340 miles into my ZF3 pair. I didn't like them at first: like you mentioned "a bit clunky", but I found the React foam to soften over time, and the shoe just gets better and better. It works well for me with long steasy runs and hill repeats. Kind of a cruiser shoe that keeps you going at quite a good pace.
@BenIsRunning
@BenIsRunning 2 года назад
I’ve found that with a lot of react foam midsoles. I was really not a fan of the infinity react but after the first 50 mile the midsole almost softened to my individual feet. I then went on to bank 600 miles in them. Definitely have to give react midsoles a chance to break in but I can deal with that considering how durable they always seem to be. Thanks for your input G 👊🏻

The problem I have with the tempo next% is inconsistency in insole. I’ve had two pairs and one is poorly manufactured. The edges of the footbed are slightly elevated in on leading to cramps and I can feel the pods through the insole. Horrible. And sloppy.
@sifi7950
@sifi7950 2 года назад
Great review Ben. You mentioned there is a lot of toe space, is the front of the shoe any broader than others? I wear a wide/2E New Balance due to broad feet, but as a non-competitive runner, this Nike could be something I'd be interested in if it's on the wide-side!
@BenIsRunning
@BenIsRunning 2 года назад
I personally found it a little roomy so you may want to give it a go. I do however have feet more on the narrow side so I wouldn’t be able to recommend based on that. I’d try and get a pair on your feet in your local Nike store if you can and go from there :) potentially just a slight sizing issue rather than width.

Because they are way beter then the vaporfly…btw i have run with this 2 to try it …thanks and continue with good work 👊
@BenIsRunning
@BenIsRunning 2 года назад
Hi what’s in the box! I’ve also found the alphafly makes me 5% more efficient when I compared heart rate data from two exact same runs. The issue with the alphafly is it’s design is not as comfortable as the vaporfly for both pros and non competitive runners. Many people have experienced pain the the arches of there feet. The vaporfly however does not have this issue and is as fast, if not faster than the alphafly so I’m guessing he’s gone back to what he feels most comfortable in. I also wouldn’t be surprised if in his contract he had to wear the alphafly when they were released but is now able to pick between the two himself :) great question, thanks for your support
@livegreatalways
@livegreatalways 2 года назад
@@BenIsRunning yes Ben. I'm one of those who suffered pain on my left arch wearing the Alphafly so had to return them sadly. Otherwise, I have to agree it is a better pair than the Vaporfly. But I've no issue with the Tempo Next% which I enjoyed. Secretly hoping Nike could release an Alphafly 2 that addresses the arch issue. I will buy without a 2nd thought

Dear Ben, Thanks for your insight. Your reviews are informative and useful. However, I must say that every time you say the Nike brand name, I can’t help but get distracted from the main point and wonder why you insist on mispronouncing the very product that you are reviewing to a global audience. Perhaps I’m the only one…? Yes, I understand that many people in the U.K. pronounce Nike as Ni-ke rather than the correct pronunciation of Ni-key. However, as you may be aware, it is not merely a U.S. vs U.K. pronunciation issue, but rather where the name originates from and how it was supposed to be pronounced in its original language/form to begin with. Besides, if the company making these shoes calls itself Ni-KEY to the whole world, maybe we should consider that they can be called the way they wish, no? On a different note, we as English speakers can choose to ignore how Scottish whiskey names are meant to be pronounced (which are often based on Scottish Gaelic rather than English), but wouldn’t it be better to try and pronounce these things correctly as it would only be more polite to pronounce place names, given names, etc. as they are meant to be, rather than how we may be accustomed to saying them or feel like saying them…? Ni-ke vs. Ni-key is a minor point. I realize that! But since you’re educating your audience on the these products, maybe it’s not such a bad idea to also educate people on the correct pronunciation of the name by saying it correctly yourself (even if many people in the U.K. may be mispronouncing Nike themselves). Perhaps something to consider… Good luck with all your running endeavors! -Areg
