Too bad he wasn’t this good throughout the whole series though lol. His acting on this show overall was subpar. Now the guy who played Nathan he was a better actor to me. He played the dumb jock role very well
Are you kidding me? That was terrible! He's the worst actor on this show and this overdramatic scene makes it painfully obvious. Maybe you should see Aaron Paul on Breaking Bad and then come back to this and realize how bad it really is
I feel like anyone would do that though. What would you do if you found out the man who murdered the person who was like a father to you and was dating your mom?? Especially when said person was your bio dad who abandoned you for years.
@@ericsohl1953 Keith was really Lucas' father. Yes, Dan was Lucas' biological father but Keith raised him as his son. I don't blame Lucas for not saying goodbye to Dan before he died.
Apparently they were planning to do that in S7,8,9 between Luke and Dan but Chad left so they couldn't. Dan redeems himself and Lucas forgives him in the end is what would've happened if Chad stayed.
I feel like because Chad was this 'teen hearthrob' people didn't take him seriously as an actor, which is a shame. He killed this scene. All of them did. And when Karen says 'LUCAS!' in such a concerning tone I can literally hear Nala calling Simba.
Eh this is arguably worse than anything else because in a dramatic scene like this you have to have the chops to sell it or otherwise be exposed for how bad you are. His acting is so bad in this scene that I couldn't take any of it seriously. His poor acting doesn't typically bother me because he's usually not given much to do. He spends most of the show just walking around looking sad.
This scene came on again earlier today. This episode did. Watching this scene again - CMM is an amazing actor. This was so intense. I think the highlight was when he told him "Maybe, you should tell the truth when I have a gun aimed at your head" that subtle explosion there before erupting. This was done brilliantly. Like, any aspiring actor could honestly pay note to this scene. I loved it. It was awesome.
I remember being a dumbass teenager watching this and didn't fully comprehend and appreciate this scene. Looking back at this at almost 30 years old is nostalgic as hell.
Dan was trying to make amends by taking care of Karen and the baby. But was also trying to escape justice by not turning himself in. Dan slowly but surely became one of the best characters on the show. He completely changed. He at least TRIED to change and make amends. Whether or not that's even possible after the damage he caused is debatable. But at least he tried.
It was also the guilt for doing something so horrible. Taking away the father to a mother and daughter, it’s pretty horrible. Taking your own brothers life in cold blood because of an assumption. Baffling to say the least. I can say, he’s a great actor, but I can’t applaud on changing because I don’t think he really did here at all! He was totally escaping justice, Terrorizing Abbey to not coming forward and all the horrible things. Then knowing what he did to Keith, he tried to come back into Karen’s life and be their for Keith’s baby and for Karen, like WTH, that’s so manipulative and kind of disgusting when you think about it. Once Karen finds out she spits on him and I don’t blame her at all. I don’t believe we see true change from Dan really until Jamie comes in the picture and he wants to be seen in a different light for his grandson.
@@jacobmccain8794 the only reason why he changed was for his grand kids. They don't fully know or understand everything that he did (Jamie knows and forgave him at the time but he was little too and didn't fully understand everything else that Dan did.) He wished he could take back what he did to everyone especially to Luke and Keith. Some things are hard to forgive.
Seeing this younger I didn’t understand why he wanted to kill his father but as I got older an rewatch it last year man I felt his pain the show was so good I was like damm I can see why my older brother loved it so much But goes to show u that revenge is a addicting drugs luke was really willing to put his mom and baby sister life at risk just for Dan not to touch them so he can kill him
I always saw Nathan as a minor character, even the final scenes when Dan talks to Nathan it felt like the scenes where written for Lucas and Dan, and wasn´t for Chad leaving the show the whole overall plot would be more centered on him.
I could see Lucas being in that scene on the court with Dan if Chad didn't leave (or stayed on for the rest of season 9 atleast) but it is what it is. Man would I have loved to see that though.
It would of been nice if Chad had come back for the final season with Peyton or at least last few eps and made the characters return to tree hill for good.. would have Dan and luke have a heart to heart and have Dan truly apologize for wat he did to luke and keith who was a father to him
Love this scene :D I've watched it a hundred times!! But it's kida funny beacuse karen's really slow on reacting that lucas has a gun. She saw it and then is quiet for like 10 seconds and then: "Lucas, what are you doin' with a gun?" hahaha
Why in God's Name would Karen want to get with Dan Scott after everything he put her through. Was it because she still loved him, and she was trying to change the mistakes of the past. I still remember how Nathan embarrassed Lucas in front of the Student Body where he showed a Clip of Dan and HIs Mother as King & Queen Of The Prom.
@@derekmathews1818 especially when she could tell that Lucas really did think Dan killed Keith and even said that something doesn't feel right about this.
I SO BADLY wanted Lucas to kill Dan here. Especially for recent events, making Karen believe Lucas was going crazy to believe he (Dan) shot Keith. But I'm glad Lucas didn't shoot him. Dan deserved to live with that guilt, death would've been too easy after everything he had done to people..even if he deserved it. Again, I'm glad Lucas didn't do it, because he proved that he would always be better than his heartless, vindictive, manipulative father because of Keith's influence, and even though Keith was taken away from him and Karen, even in death he remained the better brother..and the better man. Dan may have redeemed himself a bit in S4, even more after Jamie, Lydia, and Swayer came along, and I'm happy he did..but he never was gonna be better than Keith. Or Lucas or even Nathan.
Лукас не мог простить,убийство Кита, Дэну...потому что Лукас не считал его отцом... даже и если была интересна мысль назвать Дэна отцом...Лукас больше соеденен с Китом, а это уничтожить не может даже смерть.
Insane, of course he was after knowing the man that was a father to your whole life was killed by his brother and your actual absent father. He wasn’t thinking about anything but Dan’s lies and him being around his mother knowing what he did!
I always said this afters eeing this scene and Peyton stalker fight if he was to dye his hair black he would have been the perfect Terry McGinnis/Batman Beyond
I can kind of see why she didn't believe him though, pregnancy hormones and she thought she saw Dan "change." That and he was manipulating her after a traumatic event and it was easier to believe that Luke was crazy. I'm also just mad at her though, taking Dans side vs Lukes. Dan was always an abusive sociopath from the beginning while Luke was yea a troublemaker who made mistakes but was a good kid at heart.
he doesnt, dan stays in the show until he gets shoot while protecting his other son nathan in season 9, dies and gets forgiven by his brother as he leaves to heaven
I wish they wrote a double double for Dan. That the dual double was the one that shot Keith. It would’ve made the story way better and the show would’ve stayed on a whole lot longer.
I totally forgot about this scene. And Moira Kelly's acting and or bad editing still bothers me. Like twenty years later she finally notices he has a gun in his hand. Other than that fantastic scene.
G and M, when Lucas went to confront Dan about killing Keith. And Abby was the only one that knew at the time. Everybody thought Jimmy Edwards killed him. I can’t believe Jimmy committed suicide like that but they left him. Mouth, Lucas, Skills, they left him after Season 1.
I don’t get this scene Lucas said it was him messaging Dan the whole time on the phone pretending to be Abby but a couple episodes after this, Lucas tries to remember from Abby. I thought it was her on the phone lol
thanks I havent been able to watch all the epies god dan is such a hypocrite he abandoned karen and luke but suddenly decides to take care of her wen she isnt even carrying his child??? wots up with that are he and deb actually divorced?
See one of the problems I have with the show is that why does lucas call dan his dad or consider him his dad . He didn't raise him keith did if I was lucas I would of considered keith my dad as he was the one who raised me . If that makes sense
