After arriving in Ireland, we document our search for a derelict property. We plan on renovating it all ourselves and aim to live as "off grid" as possible.
We are on a very limited budget, but with a lot of hard work, we will hopefully create our dream home - with our own bedrooms again! Woohoo!

Yes, we just felt so happy, peaceful, and like we had come home the moment we walked onto the land. It was definitely "the one"

That’s why number 3 is for sale, the bog is horrendous and so much work. Even so, I am so envious. I am looking into France at the moment because it’s much more accessible. ❤❤

I love what you can get for your money in France but sadly home education is illegal. Plus thinking about our old age and not bring fluent scares us x

Another nice video guys. Have you thought about renting a house for a year, to see how you get on through a long, dark, wet winter? Just a thought.

I think after spending last winter in a motorhome in Scotland, Wales & Ireland, we are hopefully very aware of how hard it will be, but thanks for thinking of us. Nothing is permanent, and if we hate it, we can always sell.

Thanks, I think it's lovely, too, and this will hopefully shine through more in future videos when it's not raining! If that ever happens! 🌧☔️🤣 I think most people just see the state of its crumbling walls, lack of a roof and think we are bonkers.....I agree to be fair! But I also can see past that and the potential, as you say, that it will eventually be a beautiful home for us. 🍀🤞 x

Loved the video, gosh it brought back those anxious feelings. Waiting for responses from autioneers/owners would drive you crazy. We went sale agreed twice before getting our place, so hang on in there!

J'ai noté votre com; nous étions dans le Kerry à pâques et j'avoue qu'il y a pas de coins qui font envie avec quelques cottages typiques; que pensez-vous des prix pratiqués; je les ai trouvés un peu élevés, comme partout et spécifiquement dans cette région peut-être?! We went the other way from Ireland to France in 2021. From Connemara to midwest France with our 6 cats, 2 dogs and 2 horses. Best of luck with your new adventure.

@@slowecoliving My budget is the same, but for a little "cottage" with a bit of land in Brittany in France with very small mountains and wild landscapes too (not as much as those we saw in the Kerry region, I confess!). All the best for you too!🏡

Great thanks for that I will pass it on to the Council and heritage officer. I am not sure but it may be an old sculpture that has been moved and built into the wall, it could of course be new and of no importance. Best of luck in Leitrim

I hope we get it, too! There's always the risk it will fall through, but I'm staying hopeful. We were looking up to €75k. We liked most of Ireland to be fair, so it was more of a case of finding the right house and hoping the area ticked the box which this one did. Keep your fingers crossed for us. There are so many stories of others losing out right at the point of exchange of contracts! Scary times ahead! X

It's exciting to see how others are experiencing the Irish property market as we are. We are just from a different country. We bought a house this year. In which part of the country did you find it your place?

Hi! Thanks for the comment. We are in Co Leitrim. It's a beautiful part of Ireland. I think we got lucky with our seller & solicitor as we put our offer in and it was in our name within 2 months!

The auctioneers in Ireland are really really awful. A lot of them are pushing fake offers to get people to go in higher so they earn more commission. I know this personally as I placed offers on numerous properties over the years and heard all sorts of stories. I one case I placed an offer, being told it was sold, spoke to the owner a year later and then finding out the property was still for sale.

I'd heard of this! So bad they get away with it! I saw a place still for sale that was featured in this video! We were told it had offers! Or maybe people pulled out realised the sheer volume of work ahead! We only got this place as that's what happened!

Ahh yes Linda but there is this part of me that wants to bring this place back to life! I know it's like financial suicide but it just feels wrong to knock it down. That thatched roof is still there under the tin. X
