I purchased a Trailer Valet a few years ago to help with moving my 2500 lb trailer from the alleyway to my RV pad. This product is well made and helped to a certain extent, but my alley was gravel and the Trailer Valet wheels would spin when trying to move the trailer onto the RV pad which was about 3/4' higher than the alley. Plywood helped a little bit, but it still moved and it was a struggle to get the trailer onto the pad. Also, the city would grade the alley once or twice a year which kept it from packing down. My neighbor and I petitioned the city and they paved the alley last summer. I paid a bit extra to have a smooth transition from the RV pad to the alley. I haven't tried the Trailer Valet since the paving was completed, but it should work much better now.

This nifty machine is great for solving problems that I will never have. But I enjoyed watching this clip, because I appreciate clever inventions. I think the Trailer Valets are priced fairly well considering how beneficial they are. I'd definitely get one if I was a caravan or boat owner.

It appears to be a good idea, but after watching this twice, there's far to many things happening at once, one misstep you may have a boat in your lap or through a wall. Im NOT being critical only observant. This uniquely specific parking situation he has seems to be cured. Im trying to find something like this though powered, with controls. I have a tow behind aerial lift, (2,985 lbs) and need to move the lift around house sites, to eliminate the need for hooking and unhooking it from my pickup. The gentleman and "wife" did a nice job on the video....again not a critique an observation only. Thanks if you do read this
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet 4 года назад
Thanks for your feedback, William! Very valid concerns you pointed out there. Precision is really important to us, so we always recommend using the hand crank for more control in spots that are a bit tighter. Over time, our customers get more comfortable with the usability and speed of the drill. Depending on the hook-up style you have, a Trailer Valet RVR might be a great option for you. If you'd like more info or help finding the best solution for you, feel free to reach out to our support team (support@trailervalet.com) anytime!

Thanks very much. .My only question about this product is will it move/travel (just as easily or at all) over loose rock driveway (which I have - I dont not have a smooth cement driveway)....?
@traderkj
@traderkj 4 года назад
i can tell you from personal experience - no. The wheels just dig into the ground and don't go anywhere. We can do "ok" using plywood or scrap lumber under the wheels, but I worry about the safety of that. We are going to get an RV pad! That's not the fault of the product. It's a great product!
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet 3 года назад
The tip with the plywood is excellent, Karen! Nailed it! Definitely not meant use on rocky gravel.

Great video! Curious though, wouldn't low speed actually be higher torque multiplication?
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet 3 года назад
Hello Eric, Torque multiplication only applies to fluid dynamics, not mechanical, this comes from one of our trusted warehouse technicians. If you have any further question please reach out to support@trailervalet.com
@EMD_Ski

@@TrailerValet thanks for the response! Not to quibble, but that's just not correct. Gears exist to multiply torque, and lower gears = higher torque. It's the whole point of a car's transmission, among many other things. Here's a good kind of low tech summary www.hotrod.com/articles/how-gear-works/ Anyway, not a big deal, just moved my trailer with ease with this great tool, thanks to the miracle of low gearing 👍

I am interested in this product. Will the Trailer Valet XL be suitable to reverse or pull the trailer up or down a 15 degree rough cemented ramp? The ramp is around 4 metres long. I am calculating a total load of around 760kg. Thanks

You should do a mod where you put on a higher handle and a higher mounted trigger for the drill, no bending.

Thanks for the feedback, Peter. We attempted to mitigate this with our XL-Pro model and our next iterations of movers will incorporate that feature as well. We appreciate ya and we are definitely working on it!

How much space would be ideal to maneuver this without running into anything? I think I have a couple inches on either side.
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet 4 года назад
Hey Brent! It would probably depend on what kind of angle you're working with. We've seen our customers get their trailers into some tight spaces, sometimes just about 2 inches on each side. Our movers allow for a hand-crank option especially for those moments when accuracy is important. Our support team is here anytime to talk through your specific situation - reach out anytime at support@trailervalet.com!

I have to go slightly up hill on a driveway apron. Will this work?
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet 4 года назад
Hi Michael! All of our movers' weight capacities are rated on flat concrete. They can work on inclines with the proper tongue weight, and we typically don't recommend more than a 6-8% grade. If you have questions about your specific driveway, feel free to reach out to our awesome support team at support@trailervalet.com.

Great Video, Have you tried it through grass or dirt with your 2500 lb boat? I have a boat that weighs less so I'm trying to decide whether I will buy one or build one. Thanks William
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet Год назад
Hello! Our units work best on flat surfaces but can most certainly be used on dirt, grass, and even gravel! If your dirt isn’t compacted we would suggest laying down plywood this can create a flat surface and would work just fine! Please feel free to reach out to support@trailervalet.com if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you!

I know he has to have a golf cart. Mine move most trailers into tight spots with ease. Save the money if you have a cart.
@chaz7608
@chaz7608 Год назад
Sadly it doesn't work that way. the ball keeps slipping off no matter how tight you have it. The drill you use better be massive as a plug in drill won't turn it when going slight up hill say about 5 degrees. Turning the valet and using a drill will put it up on one tire and wont' go. Also the tralier tongue weight better be high other wise it won't push or pull it. Overall, it is now on Craigs list. Any buyers...?
@TrailerValet
@TrailerValet Год назад
Hello Chaz! Thank you for leaving a review on your experience with the XL mover. We are sorry to hear that the unit was not a good fit for you. We would like to note if anytime in the future you do decide to give our product another chance when using a drill it needs to be an 18-24 volt non-impact cordless drill. Also, we would love to have a customer support tech give you a step-by-step on how to get your ball as tight as possible in your coupler. Once again we do apologize that our unit was just not a good fit for your situation and we would still love to speak to you about your experience and how we can be better as well. If you would be open to this please feel free to reach us at support@trailervalet.com thank you!

Great video content this has convinced me to purchase a Trailer Valet XL but, hard to watch in portrait mode. In the 60's the movie industry came out with WIDE screen. Our new TV's and computers are 16X9 aspect ratio (Wide) I've never seen a TALL Screen TV. Please Turn you phone to a wide format when you shoot Video. The next time you park your boat, Please turn your phone to the side an shoot a video in landscape mode (Wide, not Portrait mode(Tall) and compare them on a 16X9 computer screen, TV, or turn your phone to it's side and compare the video. Had to give this video a thumbs down because of Tall Screen. Again, the content was great but, reshoot in Wide and see how much is missing from current your video. Hollywood when with Wide Screen for a reason, Our TV's and computers Wide screen for a reason. Phones are tall for a phone call but need to be Wide for ALL Video and most Photos.
