Listening to a ton of old stuff lately, i definitely would wonder what his role was. The only thing i noticed is he would keep things on a certain path.
Great comedians recognize great talent. I love the reverence in Patrice's voice when he's asking Pat questions and then allowing Pat the floor to do his thing. Patrice and Pat had the best exchanges on Tough Crowd, they would both set each other up and play back and forth for some great comedy.
@@jakebee7205 neither was pat. notice your boy patrice (who i respect greatly too) showed pat every bit of love he could. he acknowledged they were both real as hell. one in the same. don't discount legends for other legends because you think it's beneficial to be grading people.
Mother Bird Jimmy sucks lol he's a basic road comic and only did hack comedy on O&A. The best shows were when Patrice or some other comic filled in for Jimmy.
my second favorite Patrice on O&A show, It was great to hear all about Patrice and his perception of the game then have a true OG come in and reinforce it.
The moment I heard Patrice say it was 2011 my heart dropped knowing his death was close. And for all the hate that opie gets a couple episodes before this you could hear legit concern for Patrice because he fell asleep and it worried opie even enough to offer orange juice like 20x. And in so many episodes o and a both voice their anger towards Sirius not paying Patrice
For entertainment purposes Opie is fucking awful. That being said, he cared about Patrice and promoted the shit out of him. Probably why Patrice never went fully IN on him. Patrice knew Opie was a bit killing annoying diva. RIP PATRICE.
I've always found opies kindness to be so fake and phoney, it's hard to say he genuinely cares when everything he did was on the air for an audience, theirs just something about him that is so fucking cringeworthy he makes me sick to my stomach
@@bawse1319 I would disagree with you buuuut I recently saw a video of them talking about the Patrice benefit and Opie straight out asked if they still had to do it? It was becoming a chore having to raise money every year for his family. That shit made me sick. He is now 100% a fake piece of shit.
this is a really great episode full with business and life gems. I heard it for the first time yesterday which just happened to be pat cooper's birthday, life is weird
A line from Pat Cooper's wikipedia: "He is estranged from all members of his biological family and many of his colleagues in show business." lolol, yeah that sounds like Pat Cooper. What a legend
80's. he's 85 now. Carl Reiner is 95 now i think, still sharp . or was when i last checked him on hte norm macdonald video podcast (if you're ok with old performers, worth it)
Imagine a TV show w/ Patrice and Pat Cooper called "Pat and Pat." I don't know what would bring them together, but they talk shit to each other on the show (kinda like Martin and Pam), but they great friends and always have each others back.
They weren’t close, really. Just worked together a few times. Pat Cooper is a legend and Patrice had utmost respect for him. That’s where the chemistry came from
This episode started like molasses with all that Boston sports talk, and once Pat Cooper walked in around 39:00, the show morphed into one of Patrice’s best episodes on O & A. Pat Cooper is the caucasian Patrice O’Neal, as fast as both of those guys were. Two of the best, quickest, comics of all time.
Patrice was really asking good questions i think it's because he saw himself..comedically.. both some of the funniest comics ever but only naturally cuz they don't have alot of their stand up on tv/RU-vid
1:06:12 this is an honest reaction and it's why I love ballbusting Comics because I know it's all love. It's like two pro wrestlers in the ring. One apologized for a move and the other is like, "what are you doing!? Hit me hard as hell!"
Little did Patrice know that the Cavs would be a championship caliber teams in a few years, they Pats would win two more superbowls and the Celtics would make it to the Eastern Conference Championship as the number one team in the East.
i don't know why these guys ever bothered to take phone calls. half a sentence in and opie just starts talking over the guy and that's it. you hear them trying to break in and talk still but the volume is turned so low...just a waste of time to take calls.
