I had a 2004 K4 for years. Magnificent. Smoothest engine I ever had in a bike despite the racy power output. No handgrip vibes. The engine to me was the 8th wonder of the world.
We need a Chopsie/BVG/Neevsey ride out. And I suppose you’d better invite Fagan along too. That would be a giggle. Sort it boys. Oh, and don’t forget the boy with a leg to stand on 🤔😜
I’ve owned my Gsxr1000 K2 for 17+ years now, been faultless and still looks like brand new with my airbrushed rizla paint job and polished frame and swingarm, maxton suspension and full yoshi Japan tri oval carbon can with titanium twin outlets among some of the things done. She’s always going to be in my collection, ive had many bikes and let a lot go but she’s always stayed, and like was mentioned in this vid, if you want to get a bit silly the K2 1000 is more than fast enough to wipe the smirks of many a panigale v4, Aprillia rsv4 and even S1000rr’s on the roads if your balls are large enough to push.
My Suzuki SV 650 is 22 years old, it's a bit on the tatty side, the engine knocks and clatters a bit more than it should but it's absolutely amazing to ride. There's something very right about a few of those 20 - or + year old bikes.
I’ve got a k1 750 and it’s honestly the most versatile and exciting bike I’ve ridden, it’s a shame all the new stuff doesn’t tingle the feels the same way these older bikes do 🤷🏻♂️
The original gangsters, Baron Von Grumble and that Gsxr bike that I'll never forget you riding on that adventure trip starting out in the snow. In the snow! Thats gangsta :) Happy Monday brother
Had one of these that I commuted on for a year, exact same colours I swapped the 6 pots for tokico 4 pots, r1 master braided lines. Fast for an old bike ridden back to back with my flashed k6 1000 it wasn't lacking in the go department at all. Great bike
One of the best bikes, ever. All my mates had one. It was bike du jour down at The Ace Cafe, back in the early 2000's. I was on a 750 at the time, then progressed to the K5 1000. Sadly that was stolen after I maxed it out with upgrades, otherwise I'd still have it today. What great times we all had on those gixxers. Magical memories.
GSXR's really are something special, and you're bang on regarding the torque on earlier models. My K6 1000 is only a nats nadger off 60,000 miles and still manages to get the blood flowing into your trousers!
I had a 2000 GSXR 750 (Y) before the K1 but basically exactly the same as a K1. Absolutely brilliant that bike, then got a k5 750. Loved that even more. Then got a 2008 Yamaha R1 and honestly preferred the GSXRs!
When I was in high school around 1998 I always wanted a gsxr. Honestly the early naughties were the pinnacle of bikes. Rode a R1 for the first time around 2000 and honestly nothing compares today with the feeling these bikes brought. I own a new R1 and in comparison they just don't have the thrill these older ones gave you. Nice ride 👍
Thanks Baron, great video . I raced a K4 SBK back in the day here in Oz, same lineage motor/chassis wise . I reckon what made them so exciting was that they delivered their goodness ,145ish stock/ 170ish race engine @The@Wheel and it was all over by 11K, not🙅♂️ 15K like the modern 1000’s I coach guys and girls on nowadays at track schools. No electronics etc and when they are so analogue, 170+ is a lot at your wrist/tyre … I still have mine, never selling it, worth $1.50 now😂 but what a machine ….. I love it . 🥰Gixxer1000
Totally cool! Been through 36 bikes over the years. Settled with, yet another, Gsxr 750 to bring Bach that yesteryear and a Ducati Srteetfighter to enjoy the current! Loved the video! Cheers…..
Bought a K2 with 15 miles on the clock as the numpty that bought it new decked it after what must have been quarter of an hour lol. It needed a full set of plastics that were K1 colours Blue/White. Loved that bike. Took it to Isle of Man Mad Sunday and it was awesome. I put a power commander in it, Arrow exhaust and K&N filter. Aah yes, also a TRE. It was lovely. 2nd gear at 70mph, sit back a little, take a brisk tug on the throttle and you can touch down again at 110mph lol. BOOTIFUL!
I agree with you regarding the torque,I have a K1,and you can stick it in 6th and still pull away very rapidly from 30 mph. It's a joy around town in thar respect.
I had K3, K5 and L8 (GSXR1000R). L8 was brilliant, the best qs/blipper I've ever had or tried. Sold it for the 765 Moto2, do not do track and GSXR was underutilized on public roads, prefer the revvy and light 765. But K5 was the pinnacle. If I could find a low mileage original one now I would buy it, it was raw in all the good ways and smooth in all the important ways!
Still had my K5 until 2021 but had to sell it because it just became uneconomical to repair. Best bike I've ever ridden and it proves to me that electronic aids aren't needed because it had so much feel I could read the feedback the bike was giving me. I've ridden some bikes where I lock up and the front goes and I'm like "wtf happened"? Couldn't tell what happened until I watch my camera footage back. However on my K5 I could so very obviously feel that lock up and deal with it no problems. The same with traction, I've never ridden another bike where I can feel the limit of traction, so many times I've just low sided, but the K5 I never crashed once as I could always feel when it was giving up. I loved it so much! I've been trying to find a replacement ever since and I just cannot, so I'm looking for another K5 but they're so expensive now they aren't worth it. I hate the electronics, I do not need it on the bike and I do not want to spend more than £5000ish as I don't want to care if I crash it. Though I wish Moto GP would ditch electronics and go for rider skill only, I'm not saying I'm anywhere near as good, but I think when you have the best riders in the world, like F1 they shouldn't have any aids.
selling my K1 1000 as well, getting too old now and my back just doesn't like the position anymore, but still gorgeous to see her on the paddock stands in the garage, that is a very nice example of the K2.
Fabulous condition ! Great bike, I remember having a 2001 R1 club racing and the GSXR’s came out with instantly more power 🤷♂️🤣 and YES super bikes used to have room under the seat for your wallet etc. can’t even fit my glasses under the RSV4 seat !
Got a K3 thou, same thing with better brakes and more grunt. Bloody brilliant machine, less weight than the modern crap and just as much fun. Well setup they are peachy 👌🏻
Can’t beat an older gsxr, bought an ‘04 750 without 2nd gear for 1500 quid last year as didn’t have a bike to take to the ring with Rixxy. Couple of weekends swapping in a spare gearbox from the track bike and she was good to go, she’s a bit tatty and done 37k but pulls hard and so cheap i can’t bring myself to get rid!
Your voiceover reminds of classic Peep Show 🤣 just bought my first Superbike; ‘only’ a 929 Blade but MUCK FE its fast when you wring its neck!!! How much faster can a RR-R actually be 🤯
Serididipee. Just watched Neevsey post one on the GSX750 which lead me to watch your 125 review ( because you guys on a 125 are marrrvelous ) and then this...
I've had a k3 1000 now I've got a K6GSXR 1000 finish is like anything looking after them,, hope it goes to a good owner,,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Bought exact model and colour brand new in 2002 ….When I seen it on ebay it was already sold….I was pissed off as Id have had it🥴…..great bike, great faffery 👍🏻👍🏻
I live about 10 mins from Loomies it’s too near for me to stop and chat shite but I wish I’d dropped in now - oh well congrats on the sale it didn’t hang around long did it!
The bikes of this age were still restricted, just not so much as some today, not sure about this bike, but my 2000 ZX9r had two cats in the original titanium exhaust making it very heavy, I still have the original that will never be fitted, old bikes are the best bikes still 😎
