Demonstration on getting a good Hendrix tone with the Line6 POD X3-Live. Download my Custom X3-Live patches from my website. glenndelaune.com/patch%20downl...
i just started using the X3 Live for gigs, and it's been GREAT! as long as you have a good PA system, and a soundman that can dial in a good sound, the X3 Live is amazing for gigging. i am really digging it!
Sounds Hendrix-y to me. "The wind cries Mary," one of my favorite songs btw. While you were setting up the patches and testing near the end, it also had a "Little Wing" sound to it. Very clean, nice tone.
Actually,in brief, this guy just set up two amplifiers with a little bit of effect on each one - just what Jimmi would have done. He just doesn't have to buy thousands of dollars worth of amps and effects and lug them all over the place to do it. The x3l is a great tool.
like hell man!, fantastic!, ive herad a live pod xt via a fender twin amp, and what can i say, the best revers, delays and modulators ive heard in my whole life, but distortions were not on the level (well, the guitar was a fender stratocaster deluxe hs with single humbuckers, so no much distortion will come of it). Maybe through a valved marshall or boogie, but in that case you don need the line 6, a few pedals will make the job very well.
yes thear is a usb on the X3 you plug it to your computer it is the reconized as an inputed device ,tadaaaa, it (the X3)is now also an external sound card it's selfe and you con use XLR(L&R) and OR quarter inch mono jack(L&R) on the X3 to an amp and speekers then play back what you'v recorded. it is a verry nice sound card for your playback you don't need a mixer or EQ between X3 and amp it has it all built in
Amazing tone! I was wondering if you would recommend the x3 live to someone who doesnt play live very often. Also if the Normal x3 can get the same tones? AND also, where did you get that shirt (its awesome)?
You have an audio interface box for the computer.. However I'm curious if the pod can be the interface? I'd like to record videos of me playing with line in sound rather than a microphone on the amp. Thought you could just plug it into the computer via USB and then use a certain software. I don't know much about it all.
Hi sir Glenn Delaune, can you make a demo for the synths.. like to make a guitar sound like a sax.. it would be pretty awesome.. more power sir! love your demos
thanks man...youre the beast pleaceee create a video for the sound of a metal soling distortion ,,,like kirk or steve vay or Petrucci in the pod x3 live thank you¡¡ whaaaa
Great videos man!!! . I have a question about the pod x3live , can i record muy guitar with the USB cable and the software? directly to the computer? TX
I've watched several of your videos on here, I wish you'd do one on achieving a good John Mayer "Slow Dancing" type tone and perhaps a Derek Trucks.Robben Ford or Jimmy Herring type thing. I use my X3 Live for modern rock stuff quite a bit, but haven't been able to get anything close to those tones out of it.
Very cool demos, so thanks for that. I'm an old dog coming back to my electric playing, Classic Rock with Strong Southern Rock / Blues kind of stuff. I'm getting the impression that these boards are not really great for live play, is that a fair assessment? I'm looking at one I can grab on the cheap. I see your comment about the Boss, before I go for serious bucks, I wanna see if this old dog can really get back to his old tricks. I'm a Les Paul man, live: Fender Twin home: Marshal MG30
Glenn, I hope I'm not asking a stupid question, but is the x3 used with your amp clean channel or do you supplament your amp crunch with the x3? Guess what I am asking is does your amp stay on clean the whole time no matter what the setting is on the x3.
I run in and out with the usb then XLR directly to a crest cpx 2600 into JBL4612b's for My bedroom lol then I add an active crossover and a 2000 w@8ohm amp with an 18 or 15 depending on the stage.Did some one say turn down the drum kit lol,,... the X3 is an exalent stereo sound card all on it's own and a wepon on the stage
heay how do you make it to your guitar i take a cable from my amp guitar in to the guitar in on the x3 than i take a cable from my guitar to the left over the paddle ...how do you connect it?
If you can swing the GT-100 I'd go for that. You can probably get 15% off which would put it around 475.00. I am using mine for all of my gigs, live & in the studio.
what kind of audio interface do you use? or recommend, I am picking up this Line6 soon, and need an audio interface from my m-audio BX5a montiors.....also would need one for my electronic drums
i remember watching your review of this and you werent using the preamp thing you were using the little dials... is their a difference and this looks kinda complicated to me to (hope not cause i want this until i can afford a new amp)
ok, well I dont know why i asked that. I now have a hd500, I guess i wanted to know if you could do the same thing, I guess not. Thanks for the info. By the way you make the best demos. Im 15 and your videos are some of the only demos I watch, thanks.
On the X3 live can you say have more than one effect from the same category, meaning say 2 mods and 4 delays and assign them to whatever button you wish?
Hi! My name is Xavier. I am 16 and I am from Ecuador. My dad bought it as an unexpected birthday present in the US and he arrives with it tomorrow. Can I get with this some crunchy tones to play SRV, for example, or some nice funky wah to play Funkadelic, Earth Wind and Fire, or even the classic Voodoo Child? I hope you answer me. Thanks, and blessings. p.d. You are such a great player, I love your style. I hope if I continue studyng classical guitar, I could be able to play like you. =)
You should have used a rotovibe-simulation in stead of chorus, and used just a little bit more gain. But it was still i really nice tone, but with the tips above, i think it would sound allot more like hendrix sound.
How the hell can you get this extreme high quality of record? Do you think it is all about the quality of the tone, or the way you connect the pod to the PC is the most important element? I have doubt about buying an external audio device, like yours.
ahk so just a normal lead right?, umm so what about having them go in through different channels? i have just a simple mixer not very fancy and a normal sound card on my computer.. what about this?
excellent all your videos, my friend i think buy the stompboxes line 6, mm4 dl4,dm4 ,my question is better the x3 live in sound and price help me please Thanks and congratulations
Glenn, Seems like pod x3 live is no longer sold by Line 6. Don't tell me I own an obsolete device! What's up with the HD stuff they're selling now? Same amp modeling and stomps as x3 live? Let me know, thanks. Btw, line6 still plans on supporting x3 live for a while longer, right? Just want to make sure Gearbox and monkey will always be compatible. Thanks, Scott
Haha, no problem dude. But i have to admit it was a good one! Almost shit into the pants :) Otherwise, you make really good videos and stuff. Obviously you have great sense for guitar sound!
coble I am a sound guy and I own a liveX3 the twin rocks but the liveX3 would sound better through a full range sound system unless you are shutting off all the emulations and are just using it for the stomp boxes
have never scean equipment built to take road abuse all alone you put it in a road case with the backup one and carry them both with guitar or bass under your arm do that with your full stack
Cool, but it's so complicated to operate and in my opinion it's is an artificial sound. I couldn't imagine Hendrix making those settings with three or four cigars in his brain....he made it only with his amps and the fuzz..
