Man at 10 minutes you can tell Adam really was hitting on something deep at the core of the struggle, those fleeting glimpse into your early life, flashes of the real you, it's like coming back full circle to the beginning, having to go back to beginning to see what was lost, I've had very similar thoughts, especially now as I am 27 getting closer to 30 I tend to be more analytical with resurfacing old childhood feelings and memories I seemed to have forgotten. Great video Tom! Love it. Keep on moving ahead guys.

What you guys just explained around 12:10 About masking your insecurities/problems such as social anxiety with weed and alcohol is so true for me and many others. I remember the first time trying weed that I was able to have conversations I’ve never had before with the person that I would have never imagined even saying hi to. Just from that experience I think it engraved my brain to be dependant on weed. That was the struggle for me when I was putting it down, I was also putting down my confidence

I've been addicted to much harder drugs and still am. Opioids. What works for me is you teach your brain that you dont need it to function. If you smoke in the morning, try to make it through a day and only smoke at night, what happens for me is I realize I actually LIKE that sober part of the day. And then you can try a night without it. The key is to slowly remove the addiction

Sometimes are language betrays us. When we start talking about addictions as a battle I think in my own personals opinion we have kind of already gotten of on the wrong foot. We shouldn't look at it as a battle but as a learning opportunity. Learn as if addiction is a really hard class in school that you must study for and even get tutoring if needed i.e. help for addiction but if we look at as a battle we are setting ourselves up for failure. Just my opinion.
@melere777
@melere777 2 года назад
I agree. Word association can be powerful. I think the most damaging thing done when it comes to talking about and treating addiction (and also with mental illness) is framing it in a perspective of one being powerless to the substance or having the addiction. To some it can be helpful and provide them with relief, to others it only intensifies the struggle and causes undue suffering. If you turn to addiction because of trauma, you're already someone who has a dysfunction when it comes to power dynamics and live in a state of powerlessness relative to to the external world around you. In other words, saying we're powerless WRT addiction or substances just fuels what is causing the addiction. If you turn to something (out of last resort usually) to seek control but then someone says nope that thing is controlling you, not only are you re-living the experience you are trying to escape, but your last hope for relief and getting your needs met has been destroyed. It can be unpleasant to say the least and I think we need an approach more like yours, which is reframing what we are experiencing into something more constructive, that builds confidence and a sense of competency (things addicts are missing).

Yep... That's me... I honestly don't know why I cycle through life and addiction, I know that I have pure willpower and can just stop proper hardcore addiction, I mean intravenous meth, smack, MDM. Also , alcohol, weed, bezo, all over different times, and I just did it each times, stopped, no support of any kind. But so far I've always cycled back to one form of addiction.. and I have no idea why... Yes there was abuse in my life, but I can't, even when I try, to feel any trauma from those events, I have understood and rationalised all my abuse and it feels like it has no affect at all... But I cycle in and out

'Healing Trauma' in my experience is a multipronged approach. Yes therapy is paramount but trauma causes brain tissue to callous and this also needs to be healed with certain foods and herbs. It's not all just about talking. Also addiction definitely is not solely caused by trauma. Correcting Glucose and Mineral Salt deficiencies has played a vital role for me also, as well as detoxing from toxic heavy metals. The compulsive behaviour in addictions I think can be down to short-circuiting in the brain akin to the short-circuiting that people experience with OCD. Electrical impulses are being impeded due to lack of fuel, calloused brain tissue and/or toxic heavy metals in the brain. Getting the metals out helps neurotransmitters to thrive. Looking at 3 of the above mentioned things has helped me heal my addiction and not rely on meetings. I still go every now and then just to connect, but I do get frustrated at how a lot of people in there don't want to think outside the box and thus forever remain reliant on the meetings. I wouldn't advise anybody in early recovery to move away from the meetings though, I have seen too many people die because they thought they had beaten it. It takes a lot of work to heal this thing. I'm 8 years sober from alcohol and hard drugs and have left the psychedelics behind me two years now along with kratom. Kratom didn't turn to an addiction but it nearly did, scared the crap out of me so I threw it all out. Stuff is seriously addictive. Totally substance-free now even caffeine and I feel absolutely amazing. I have had a number of other health issues so it suits and helps in healing these things too. Besides, I have zero interest in taking anything knowing how they are just damaging my brain, plus I am content, no need for any mind-altering substance. Only since implementing the following information can I say that I am healing from my addiction. As well as addiction this person's information has also helped me heal my insomnia, Lyme disease and ADD/Autism: www.medicalmedium.com/blog/understanding-addictions www.medicalmedium.com/blog/addictions-part-2 www.medicalmedium.com/blog/addiction I hope somebody finds this helpful. It can be argued that psychedelics and cannabis in moderation can simply enhance life without destroying your life. Although when Adam brought up trauma I believe he was making a generalization about stress that forms as one becomes an adult that manifests into substance abuse. It’s also a fair point to say that some simply become addicted purely out of curiosity or a mix of both curiosity and trauma.

Little bit of alcohol mixed in, maybe 2-3 beers a night to potentiate it, and daily marijuana. As someone who is addicted to opioids, I would actually say smoking weed for me was incredibly dehabilitating, like it destroyed my functionality. @jspur6

@@oxxy6678 not controversial to me! everything effects us all differently, if you can function on opioids that’s great, I wish I could, I’m the exact opposite though. Just waiting for that vid when he messes up because that’s in the not too distant future. Really surprised at the comments about what addiction is and is not. 12 step is not science,it has many flaws,the inability to observe these problems,or be open minded of Adam and his experience, shows the problem with AA. I don't personally believe AA is good for everyone who has been addicted to something,and I have seen plenty prove Adam right,and many prove AA right,which is scary.

I cant agree with addiction coming from trauma ...u try a drug and u like it because it makes u feel good so u continue using until that moment when u cant stop...u are then addicted only because u will be sick of u try to stop....not because u have traumas that u havent dealt with.

@@myrhh2260 good point I guess if you really think about it most of as are addicts in this society. Especially to our phones. Think about all the wasted hours we spend staring at a screen when we could be out living life and making beautiful memories. It’s pretty sad really.. we are constantly looking for an escape from reality. Weather it’s food, porn, social media, drugs, you name it.

Addiction? Try getting off opiates!

Kratom works on opioid receptors. It isn’t considered an opiate because it isn’t derived from opium

I've heard that elsewhere too, but in reality it doesn't make any difference to opioid withdrawal symptoms.

Thus says The Lord: The Scriptures do not lie! And My prophets speak, yet the people refuse to hear; they will not listen! Even My own people will not believe! Yet their belief is not at all required. For My will is set and can in no wise be turned back. The truth of My Word stands; it speaks throughout the generations and echoes throughout eternity! For I am The Lord, YAHUWAH, I am EL Shaddai, and I shall surely perform all I have spoken! I shall not cease, nor relent, nor shall I be turned back from My purpose!... The kingdoms of men must die, and the evil of men must be destroyed; all must be wiped away! Peoples of the earth, you have hated life, you have polluted My garden! Diseased and awful generation, you have destroyed the garden! And so I am come to cleanse, and to wipe away! I am come down, My face is very near! Do you feel the heat of My wrath, O ignorant and vain peoples?! You retain no knowledge at all! Only greed and wickedness, wickedness upon wickedness, passes before your eyes without ceasing, and oh how you love to have it so! DEAD GENERATION, YOUR HEARTS ARE STONE! Day after day you build up wrath, the vessels overflow! Day by day, the bodies are stacked up in heaps! Day by day, the unborn are slaughtered, whole generations of people murdered without cause, multitudes of innocent cast off as refuse! Yet you think Me too harsh, and My punishments too severe, My judgments unfair. I AM THE LORD, AND THIS IS MY EARTH! THESE ARE MY CHILDREN!... All you see, from the ground beneath your feet To the farthest reaches of the universe, is MINE, And I shall do as I please!... I shall do according to the counsel Of My own will,[2] for I am God! Therefore, O peoples of the earth, because you have slaughtered the innocent and murdered your neighbor, lo, you have even made for yourselves laws that all may do their pleasure in unrighteousness and perform evil at their leisure, so then shall I also declare MY Law, and it shall fall hard upon the backs of all nations! Yea, I have put forth the decree and hasten to carry out your sentences, O peoples of the earth! And what is the sentence, you ask?... Look upon the slaughtered innocent! Look upon their torn and broken bodies; behold how they are torn in pieces! See how their blood pours down and their limbs are strewn about! LOOK! Look how they are scraped out of their mother’s womb! Look upon the works of your hands, you evil and most wicked generation! LOOK UPON YOUR WICKEDNESS! LOOK UPON ALL YOU HAVE DONE! Thus says The Lord God, Creator of Heaven and Earth: Because of this blood which remains on your hands, because of all the multitudes of slain you have piled up in heaps, because of the evil works of your hands in where you have agreed together, to both do and allow them, to make them law, THUS SHALL I IN LIKE MANNER DO UNTO YOU! IN LIKE MANNER SHALL YOU RECEIVE AT MY HAND! Lo, even double shall you receive at My hand, and double again, until there is no place found that is not laid waste, until every land is polluted by the stink of rotting corpses! Both man and beast shall lie down in death together; they shall be as refuse upon the land! I shall tear down your cities and break apart all your dwelling places! I shall tear your leaders in pieces and pour out the blood of your mighty men upon the ground, until it reaches unto the neck![3] Behold, all mighty and evil men shall be torn in pieces, with their limbs strewn about in the open fields and in the waste places![4] Behold, the great army, the astonishing company, the assemblage of nations who have come together to fight against The Holy One of Israel,[5] shall be broken in pieces without hand! For strong is The Lord, and sharp is the sword which proceeds from His mouth![6] Behold I, even I, The Lord of Hosts, shall scrape every last vestige of man and his inventions from the earth at the last day! For I am God, and the glory of My strength is revealed in My Holy One! The glory of men must die! Declares The Lord of Hosts, The Only Creator, The God of Israel... YES, I AM HE, YAHUWAH!... Hurry now, those who hear! Hurry now, those who know Me! Hurry and kiss The Son![7] Hurry now and kiss Me upon My face, All you who know My name!... YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH! www.thevolumesoftruth.com/The_Glory_of_Men_Must_Die
