I felt it necessary to re-edit this review. I don't want to expose any viewers to a particularly harmful figure who lied about who he really was. This isn't about "changing history" or whatever. It's about having a version of this video that I'm still happy with and doesn't force people to see a potentially very upsetting face when they just want to watch my Pulse review.
The original ending of your video was always haunting. Especially after JewWarios death and even more now with everything coming out. I understand and respect your decision to re-edit/upload. Needed more red tape fequency anti internet ghost static.

I don't know where I fall on the debate around editing older content and "re-writing history" as some people call it. But somehow the simplicity of "I felt it necessary to re-edit this review..." coming from Phelan just seems so honest and correct. Class act.

At first I thought this was already uploaded and then I notice the edit and question this, but then I saw some of the comments and looked up on the web. Man, first the channel awesome and then that addition to the effect. I never watch his video and really only saw him in cameos and crossover videos, but man I just can't image how you and others who might of viewed him as a friend and fans of him are going through this.
Oof. This video was a little awkward before but I didn't imagine how much worse it could get. It didn't take me long to think "oh god that holds up ever worse now" you definitely did the right thing Phelan.
I remember catching this when it first came out and getting wonderfully blindsided by the parodies of the usual blip.tv ads at the start. Kind of wish there was a way to recapture that, but it's still a REALLY fun video.
This situation has me bummed out the most when talking about Channel Awesome. Thanks for removing him though, you made the best choice in these situations.

I remember when this re-edit was first uploaded I almost made a comment explaining what happened in the original (because I’d watched it recently). I’m glad I didn’t do that now, the person edited out doesn’t deserve to be remembered and I’m glad I couldn’t tell you what happened in the un-edited version even if I wanted to anymore.
4 years later from my last comment and over a decade since the video was posted on channel curien, It's still my favorite intro. It helps to have watched during this time because unfortunately newbies will not know of a time where there was a plague of midroll ads and it was that same god damn fiber commercial.
Haven't seen this one in a long time, you've grown so much as an entertainer bro, the pulse reviews and the anaconda reviews were my introduction to you, rewatching this review is pretty nostalgic. Also, I don't really ask the entertainers I like to check something out as a potential episode, but I thought it would be fun if you did an episode of pretty much any video buenquedo (that Brazilian animation company that rips off pixar movies) movie. I think you would rip into those pretty damn good lol. Whatever your next project is, I am looking forward to seeing it!

I'm a simple man, I see Phelous has re-uploaded a video I toss a couple views his way...after all I've seen his original version of this plenty o'times and I respect the hell out of going back and doing a re-edit.
I wonder how many people who see this now actually get the fiber joke. Been re-watching some of the classics and it never really occurred to me before now that if you didn't first see this when it aired you would be completely lost because of lacking the context of the old ads. This isn't a criticism, it's more a reflection of how weird it is to realize how long I've been watching, and how long you've been making these. Thanks for the hard work sir.
If I recall correctly red thread and red candles are used to bind spirits to a certain space or vessel, maybe that's what they were going for with the tape? I think it was in the original pulse, but I also think it was a very temporary barrier, the ghosts would eventually break through it. likely the reasoning was lost in translation....and the fact it was a temporary binding. :/

Brad is the cinema snob right ? He had that friend who joked that the Holocaust was cool because of Adam Sandler which is waaaaay to far but Brad himself is just a fine dude. He should still plaster over that guy with like Caligula or something stupid in his videos. And Joe was really homophobic back with DA 2 if I'm remembering correctly but he does seem like a fairly nice dude. The Pulse series was always one of my favourites of your stuff! Good job with the re-edit. It's sad that you needed to, but I would have done the same.
I'm a big fan of a lot of recent and past content creators of CA. I'm so sorry about what's recently come to light. This is not only a shocking revelation about the person Phelous was forced to edit away, but painful for his victims, his friends, and not least, his family and widow. Even though it wasn't so, CA seemed to be like a family until these ugly things began to come to light. I became a fan right about the time of the first mass exodus at the end of 2014, but I knew as a fan it was none of my damn business. Now that CA has chosen to allow pride and lies to destroy them, I will say how SAD it is that Michaud chose to ignore serious issues happening right under his nose. Poor communication is bad enough, but these other issues? It was bound to come bite his ass sooner or later. A mature and courageous response containing a sincere apology could have been issued, but there's no courage in a nasty, vindictive, yeah, I used his own word to describe his non-apology, prideful response. Then he called them LIARS. I knew a preacher once who called 8 victims of paedophilia and rape LIARS. It tore families and a church apart. This is what sexual abuse does. It hurts EVERYONE. I feel bad for everyone who is touched by this tragedy, and believe me, it is a tragedy. Thank you Phelous, and if I've said too much here, I apologise. Feel free to delete the comment.
As someone who is old enough to remember dial up, I must disagree. That dialogue sound is creepy as hell. I mean you likely only had the 1 phone line and no cell phone, so if you heard someone else getting on the internet it meant.... NO PHONE!!
I actually very recently watched the original version of this, and the only "problem" I have with the new version is SURPRISE BENZAIE which is less of a problem and more of a hilarious byproduct of the re-edit.
Watched this so many times over the years and it made me think of something. In anime they call texts emails like this does with instant messages. After reading comments I had forgotten the original was Japanese so I guess now it makes sense.
I usually get my aluminum siding elsewhere, but I had an emergency and this was the closest place. I was blown away by how fast and professional everyone was about the sudden job! Especially Emmett at the front desk. Highly recommended.
It might have been good to replace, "you know who", with a cameo from Allison or something to fill in the blanks; either way, I think it was a good idea to edit him out.

In this movie we have Veronica Mars, Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries, Wild Dog from Arrow, the “Dip It Low” singer, Arvin Sloane from Alias and future Oscar nominee and winner Octavia Spencer! A solid cast wasted in a stupid horror movie
Well, I will miss the mentioning of the Japanese original and comparison. Guess it'd be too much of extra work to redo the beginning entirely, but I'd love to see it done rather than just that segment removed.
Is there really any point in mentioning the original? After all, they are completely different films. The original Pulse, or Kairo, was a slow and depressing horror movie about isolation. Personally, I think it's one of the best horror movies ever made. The USA remake is like a completely different film. It feels more like feardotcom, lol.
Long story short, the video had someone that phelous (not the character, the actual director) who performed actions in the past that were considered not acceptable to him. To him, he just felt like a re-edit was necessary.

I kinda liked the movie, but it has this huge problem of everyone being unaware of everything and non-interacting with each other like in a bad dream. I had the same impression with the Bye Bye Man but Pulse is such a better movie in every aspect that I won't go in further details...
I get the reason for the change and I obviously have no idea about the man personally, but I honestly thought the original ending was pretty funny based off clips I've seen of him in other people's videos. Still one of my favorite reviews on a guilty pleasure movie of mine!
