I dare say that letting your children drink the trans beer is bad for you. Emphasis on the beer part. Maybe just maybe, giving your children alcohol and implying that your children are being sold alcohol is worse for your kids’ mental and physical health than telling them about lgbt+ people

There’s a message in there about insecurity in men as well. Literally from the start of the movie, one of the first things we learn about Ken is that he can’t be happy unless Barbie looks at him. Ken can’t find an identity outside of Barbie, which is extremely unhealthy. And it’s something we see in real life with a lot of men as well, the only identity they believe they have is participating in misogyny. So the Barbie movie isn’t just defending women, it’s defending men too, but conservatives are too media illiterate to get that.

@@KristineMaitland Funny this is I actually watched Barbie over Christmas (after typing the above comment) and I actually really enjoyed it, though I was playing Parks with the family so I couldn't give the movie my full attention. I thought Ken's arc was actually really funny and heartwarming. When he was the villain, he reminded me a bit of Ben Stiller's character in Dodgeball.

Better to be a "weak effeminate loser" who at least values empathy, compassion, and the rule of law as opposed to being violent, emotionally unstable, destructive thugs who don't seem to like having a sense of right and wrong for themselves. It’s actually an interesting part of history that gets overlooked or flat out ignored in a lot of academic classes that I would highly recommend looking into, especially if you happen to be interested in the history of WWII.

I got into an argument yesterday with my dad's antagonistic cousin who claimed the bible is unerring truth (with no consideration for linguistic changes in translation, and disregard of the faultiness of humankind), and I lost it when he got to the mistranslated line used to condemn homosexuality. My partner and I said our goodbyes to everyone and left for his mom's, and I've finally decided I'm not attending family events if it extends beyond my immediate family anymore. We may live in upstate NY, but there are still plenty of bigots. I am just grateful there are some safe spaces at the university I attend, and that my partner looks out for me as much as he does. Women have a right to single sex accommodations, in situations where they are vulnerable, including restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, and shelters, and prison. Single sex accommodations were invented because women are vulnerable to sexual assault by men, including trans identified men. Refusing to acknowledge the threat that males represent to females is extraordinarily misogynistic. Why do you hate women so much?
