Hello and welcome to badger cam
So you messed up? In this weeks video, I messed up one of my plastic models and had to start again from scratch, there are a few ways to remove Acrylic paint from plastic models but this is the method that I use.
I Nail varnish remover, this stuffs a must to have around even if its just for cleaning paint off your hands
Soak some tissue in nail varnish remover and rub the paint off. This takes a few rubs before the reaction starts but once it gets going the paint will fall right off the model. When the paint seems to smudge rather than remover, soak a fresh bit of tissue in the nail varnish remover and carry on
A tooth brush and a tooth pic are handy to get into hard to reach corners and taking a model to bits before cleaning it will make the process easier.
When all the paints off, wash the bits in warm soapy water and dry them before reassembling and painting the model
Everybody messes up from time to time, don't be to hard on yourself just do better next time

Dettol; the old school foggy brown liquid, not the new combination cleaners. Neat, objects fully submerged, in a jar will remove most, if not all acrylic paint. I've left pieces in for a days, a few weeks, even up to a year (jar got obscured on the shelf and promptly forgotten about) tbh the plastic that was in for neaarly a year felt a bit softer when it came time to remove the mold lines but all in all it's a reliable process with an easy-to-find household product in the UK. Things to be aware of; Dettol won't always remove polyurethane acrylic primers and when it comes time to wash and clean a model, a little dish soap, neat, on an old toothbrush and gently scrubbed across the piece will work wonders. Once all the paint is off the model and suspended in the suds, then and only then rinse with warm water. In the past I've noticed the earlier introduction of water into the cleaning process seems to arrest the process leaving paint remnants in any overlooked recesses. Great video, keep up the good work!

Thanks. The paint colours on the USS Arizona are debated by modelers and after painting it I put off the final gluing together because I changed my mind and decided to go with the strange blue shade the National Park service claims the ship was painted when it was bombed in '41. Well, not the garish bright blue, but a nice soft mid sky blue. I'm okay with it.

Glad I could be of help,I'm having one of those moments myself atm,not sure weather to go for a dark yellow german camo or a winter white wash.Hope the kit comes out ok,just had a look at the Arizona and think the blue looks better.best thing with paint debates is even stock the paint doesn't stay the same when exposed to the elements so it's like trying to catch the breeze

@@scalestuff1066 I think snow is fine on one or two models, I can't recall ever seeing it on an aircraft model, that would be something rare. Snow looks great on ships and locomotives.

That is fine, but what I really need is an easy way of removing overpainted wallpaper from the walls. If you fancy doing a video on that, you are welcome to pop round and use my house as a show house to demonstrate your skills 😆👍

Hahaha,well as long as it's not chip paper a steamer is normally your best bet,I spent 4 days on removing chip board wall paper took a finger nail off the stuffs evil!
@GrandadsOtherChannel
@GrandadsOtherChannel Год назад
@@scalestuff1066 it is embossed paper with several layers of paint. I have used a steamer and gave up after just one small wall section. That was several years ago, and it is still in the same state now. The previous owner clearly gave the whole house a good layer of paint over whatever was there before to make it a neutral colour scheme to help the sale.
