The pff guy who said herbert can't play never said he was wrong but still has a hate boner for herbert. It's good to see people admit they were wrong about herbert. What they did to herbert in oregon was down right criminal. They hid his immense talent with awful play calling and schemes and If herbert played at Alabama he would have broken records and possibly won a heisman.

Its F because the process is terrible, getting Hurts in the 2nd for a noncompetitive team when he is essentially a middle of the road qb with a similar ceiling is a move to go .500, not to build for the future. On top of that you have Wentz rostered and are making essentially a lateral move in terms of competing for a championship. That being said I think it should be a D rather than F given the Wentz trade that makes it less of an awful pick

Important to remember that a lot of the grades are based on process rather than player. Everyone and their mothers were wrong on Herbert, me included. I hated it when we drafted him! But more importantly than being wrong is trying to understand why we were all so wrong. I really undervalued his ability to spread the ball. It was an obvious thing from his tape, and not something that should be overlooked, like it was. Especially because it means he IS going through his progressions, and finding someone to get the ball to. I really overestimated how quickly NFL coaching can get a player free of terrible habits. In Justin's case was that ridiculous ball flip he always did after receiving the snap. By the end of training camp it was already coached out of him. Another thing that should be noted was him being a checkdown machine, and not going deep that often. This was all about Oregon's scheme, and even though he does tend to check down at times, he does read the whole field (like I mentioned earlier). Another mental note right there.
@mr.brenman2132
@mr.brenman2132 2 года назад
His generational physical talent should have also come into play when evaluating him. 6'6" 240 with a cannon and mobility. His Rose bowl performance where he beat the Badgers with his legs should have eliminated a lot of doubts about him. They said he didn't have the fire but that game proved that he did.

For guys you don’t get to scout, I think it’d be helpful to put “N/A” instead of a C just so you know in the future that you didn’t get to them when looking back and so you’re not grading the pick without having watched the player first. Just a suggestion. Keep up the amazing content, love it all!

Then Eagles go on to the Superbowl vs. Chiefs. Let's re-grade the Giants. I agree that (for the most part) you accurately graded it. Good job! Andrew Thomas: A. Correct! True Left Tackle. Lots of TV pundits got him wrong. Grade is A+. Xavier McKinney: A. Correct! Total playmaker. Could easily upgrade to A+. Matt Peart: A+. Incorrect. Grade is D. Lacked stoutness. Clinging to a roster spot. Likely cut in 2023. Replaced by Evan Neal. Darnay Holmes: A. Incorrect. Grade is a B or C+. Tough slot corner but who is very grabby and gets called for PI. Shane Lamieux: B+. Grade is F but injuries were hard to predict. Ironman in college but couldn't stay healthy in NFL. Likely cut in 2023. Cam Brown: A. Ok. Grade is B. Solid special teams but has done little aside from Special Teams. It's a 6th round pick. Carter Coughlin: A+. Grade is a B. Solid pick for the 7th. Mainly just Specials. Converted from Edge to depth off-ball LB. TJ Brunson: C. Correct. Practice Squad player and then cut. Chris Williamson: C. Correct. Never made the team. Tae Crowder: C. Incorrect! To be fair, the Vikings did land 4 starters in the first 5 rounds in Jefferson, Cleveland, dantzler and Osborn. While the late picks didn’t hit, that’s still a good haul

I'm criticial of 1st/2nd round running backs more than almost anyone. I think it's almost always a bad move. I've just seen too many 3rd or 4th or 5th round RBs come in and set the world on fire. With that being said, how freaking insane would it have been if the Chiefs had simply taken Jonathan Taylor instead of CEH. What an absolute nightmare that would be for the rest of the NFL lol.

1st round HBs are almost always a waste due to opportunity cost...the fall off in production from 1st to 4th round hbs is very minor but 1st to 4th round of any other position is usually HUGE.

33:08 was an enigmatic home run, and your commentary was correct in every regard. It was not a Wiff. He wasn't a fit with the Bills but was a stud WR1 for the playoff 2022 Giants who paradoxically had the *same* OC in coach Daboll. How does that make sense? Nonetheless, he was everything you said he would be...but for the Giants.

On James Lynch, With the new scheme he has an opportunity to play that tweener role once again. I think he's a projected starter at this point. There is still hope for him.

Colts fan so I'm biased but they knocked that draft out of the park! besides 2 of the 6th rounders, all players are still on the team. Our WR1 for at least 4 years (Peirce WILL take that roll in 2023), ELITE RB, Pinter has been a life saver playing every position on OL, Rodgers our return man... Eason was only traded cuz Wentz hated good backups lol (but can you blame him with Foles and Hurtz?). I really think their 2022 draft will play out (barring the ELITE player, how often do you get those?) in much the same way- I thought you were MUCH too high on the Colts' 2022 draft, but after seeing this (Pierce will push Pittman down, Cross will push Blackmon- he's more likely going for Willis' job but either was he WILL 'push' him, and Raimann has a chance to mirror (or accomodate in any case) Taylor's success), I can't REALLY argue.

Your grade on Justin Herbert AT THE TIME was not all too bad, I remember being one of the only people AT ALL, it seemed, that was kind of high on him and feeling good about the chargers picking him. Never did I think he would develop like he has, just imagine a world where Tyrod doesn't get fucked and Herbert is still on the bench right now and wow is the team different haha. I thought he would be a good back up and take over the team in a couple years, I really did think he would be good. But damn was I even wrong, he's been fantastic and making everyone like you and I look like fools for passing on him.

Geno stone gets some playing time, mostly because of Marcus Peters’ injury, he just resigned, think you’ll see him as a role player on defense this year. 7th round steal

What's been reported with the Peart thing is pretty much that he is soft even though he still has all that athletic ability and tools. I still think the process of the pick was fine and he hasn't been really that bad at all when he did get playing time. I still think/hope he can be a solid swing tackle for us behind Thomas and Neal and our tackle room could be great.
