Honestly...imo...charging $40 is worse than charging $500... Five hundred is like, "yeah, that's absurd, so obviously this isn't targeted to me". Forty bucks feels more exploitative because it has the illusion of being in regular people's grasp, but holy shit is that a lot of normal-person money to drop on a digital reward. Theres no competitive advantage, lost perks you'd normally get in cheaper packs you're missing out on, no locked servers only people who payed for the pack can play. How many people freak out at something that doesnt effect them is really surprising too me.

Whats miss leading is almost none of this money goes to faker. 30% goes to T1 and Esports, 70% goes to Riot Games and Tencent (Mostly to Tencent) and Among of the 30% only 40% of that goes to T1, which only Faker is taking 10-20 % of that, as he takes the smallest amount among the team.

I blame Valorant tbh for the extremely high and egregiously priced cosmetics that are being released by Riot in their other titles and by the wider gaming space. I feel before Valorant the skins price were on the rise looking at Fortnite and Apex legends the Apex skins were going up in price and Fortnite really blew up cosmetics to a different level. The incentive for higher priced cosmetics became more and more a need than a want my companies. Once Valorant dropped their FIRST GUN BUNDLE in the BETA for 100$ and people ate it like it was candy. The gaming industry is a microcosm of the larger economic disparity issue. If some people have too much more money then others then the "free market" has no choice but to cater to them to be viable, or at least they stand to make so much more money that it makes 0 sense not to cater. Then as more and more of the real economy bends itself to serve the few the rest of us have even less to compete over, thus making the problem worse and worse and worse. How do we balance the economy at this point? Well how would you do it in a video game, you'd server reset, and its the same solution in real life, tax the too rich and delete that money, thus giving more relative economic power to the majority. I'm sure it is slightly more complex than that, but at the same time I'm not as sure as I used to be when the problem doesn't get better and we don't try that solution, and when we did do that in the past it did seem to work. Microtranscations are honestly a great case study of the larger problem. It is exciting to see if our leaders will fix the issue or keep making things worse over the next many years woooooooooooo!
