I have a sister in law that really did run away from home and no one noticed she was gone. 3 weeks later, when she finally walked back into her house, her Mom yelled at her about not doing a chore. She was one of 13 kids though, so maybe that was why... I used to always want to run away from home, and my Mom told me to do it, she was sick of putting up with me. She even brought me a suitcase and told me to pack. Ah, childhood trauma.

4:17 I LOVE THIS PART!! It captures the essence of those weirdly disturbing children show scenes, specifically disney. Also the way she's narrrarating, is PERFECT. It's giving me the same vibe as the animation, weirdly disturbing for a children's show. Maybe like an Alice and Wonderland kinda feel! Edit: Oh and it also reminds me of Grinch--!

Hilarious story!!! My running away story wasn't like this, though. I ran away from home the summer before my senior year of high school. Here's what happened... So both parents were/are abusive in multiple ways and I just couldn't take it anymore. My dad was living in Florida at the time and when it was time to fly there, I packed as much as I could into a duffle bag, suitcase, and my purse. On my way back "home," I dodged my mom and stepfather at the airport and my friend picked me up and we left for her house. This ended in a really rough and messy falling-out which led to getting kicked out of my friend's house for becoming the monster I was running away from. I lost myself for a while and was figuring out how to navigate school while homeless. But thanks to the power of going from house to house, homeless shelters, locker rooms, and city benches, I was still able to do my homework! So I graduated high school out of spite and invited my parents because I knew they didn't believe I could do it. And boy, was I correct... The incubator told me right after the ceremony that she and my stepdad had a bet going that I either wasn't going to graduate or was gonna graduate pregnant... while my dad decided it would be cute and quirky to throw a fit because I finally stood up to him and made it clear that I was done taking his narcissism crap. Safe to say, I haven't spoken to them in 4 years and I'm much better off now. Still healing, but yeah. This isn't an encouragement for people to run away from home, by the way. I lost all my friends and family, lost myself completely and became a really awful person until reaching rock bottom. A lot of traumatic stuff happened that has left deep wounds that will take many years to be healed. In hindsight, I probably should have just waited or called CPS or something because I would've been much better off. But it's my story and I get to decide how it ends.

I remembered when me and my sister wanted to run away (for actual family issue reasons) we'd take a black bag , some of our clothes , our favorite toys and some canned foods with us before making it out of the house. We made it about two streets away from home when we felt the dread of the punishment that we'd get from our Step dad. So we made it home in fear and tears.

7:17 Yesterday My friend (let's call her Friend A) was messing with my other friend ( I will call him friend B). Friend B was telling her to stop and Friend A mentioned some along "Bullying is my love language". I busted out laughing and said this "We have 5 Love Languages and then we have Friend A with the SIXTH Love Language -Bullying" We all laughed at this and Oh girl I love how I still remember this scene in this video

I once tried to run away with a backpack full of stuffed animals, one of my brothers wrestling action figures, and a couple of boxes of Hamburger Helper. Not the meat or any pots/pans, or even clean water, literally just the box of pasta and seasoning. I wasn’t a bright kid. I also never made it out of the backyard.

I had a runaway phase too. Mine was when I was in preschool, and I ran away from that place alllll the time. As in *once a week, the school called my mom to tell her I had run away yet again.* And it wasn't just school, I ran away from home a lot too, mostly down to the park which was about 1 block away and had a path directly leading to it from the back of my house. I don't remember most of these run away trips in took, probably because I was so young and I have the memory of an ice cube. I do remember one time, when I took my Dora backpack and TRIED to run away, buuut I was lured back with the promise of dinner by my mom and grandmother.

I thought about running away a bunch as a kid. Never actually tried it since I didn't know what I'd do after I left, but it was a thing. Also yes, I'm pretty sure annoyance is a love language. I think the only reason me and four of my other sisters are as close as we are today is because we'd bother each other so much when we were children. It's just that "Annoyance" doesn't sound as lovely as the other love languages, so it never gets counted.

I went through my running away phase somewhere in between middle and high school. I also never had any plans of actually going through with it, but the idea fascinated me, so it became sort of a theme in a lot of my writing and painting. I think I might have talked about it a little too much in creative writing assignments, because the teachers totally got the counselor on me. Now that I’m an “adult” the idea of living in the woods alone sounds wonderful. Christopher Thomas Knight is my role model.

I once got really mad at my parents when i was a toddler and i tried to tie a blanket to a stick. But i couldn't find out the knot for it so i just carried the blanket like a bag of gifts over my shoulder. I couldn't even make it 20 meters away from the house and i ended up sitting in front of the house. My parents thought "aww, it's a little picnic!"

My big brother as a little kid said to his/my mom: "i'll run away!" then my mom said: "Don't run away, lets run away together! Then they went to picnic for a while and then they just returned home like normal. :D

my older brother had a LONG "running away" phase when he was a kid, that started nearly as soon as he was old enough to walk, (I know this from a famous family story where he actually did try to run away as a toddler, and got all the way up the street dragging his baby blanket, before our parents noticed) and lasted until he was in like. middle school. Now that he's old enough to actually move out, we can't get rid of him 🙄

The dad immediately assuming it was the mom's fault that she ran away made me laugh not gonna lie, especially that little break in the story where Becca goes over it. The delivery was just really good there, especially the little laugh.

I also had a phase where running awat sounded fun. Nothing wrong with my home life, but kids just crave independence and excitement. I got stopped in my tracks pretty quickly once I realize that my bunk bed wouldn't fit in my kerchief and I wouldn't be able to lift it. I didn't want to rough it on the ground!

I remember my own "running away" story like it was yesterday. My parents and I had a fight, so I decided "I'm leaving!" and they just let me, under the assumption I wouldn't take it seriously. I made it as far as my neighbor's house and just sat on their porch to wait for the school bus (which I thought was a normal city bus and would just take me anywhere I wanted for free. I had no grasp on the financial system of the U.S at the time). Eventually, I got bored and crawled into their bushes to take a nap. When I woke up, there was a flashlight in my face and it was 11:15 PM. Mom and Dad got freaked out when I didn't come home and thought I actually followed through with my plan and ran off. I didn't get in as much trouble as I thought I would, mostly because they both gave me permission to, but they still guilt-tripped me into never doing it again by saying how much everyone would miss me if I left.
