Chou Tui is one of our fundamental leg exercises. Like other movements in our fundamentals, Chou Tui works both to increase coordination, balance, flexibility and strength, but also has a direct application in a non cooperative setting.
To get the most out of your solo work it is important to have a detailed knowledge of how the movement is used in a live situation. It is from this knowledge that you can shape your intent and develop the correct body method. If the intent, body method and application are not in harmony then the movement will not be there when you need it.
Many of our fundamental leg exercises are used to neutralize, escape, or even counter a takedown by your opponent. However, to get the benefit of this training you have to and a clear and logical system of training to develop the body method and instincts needed to create a usable skill.
Our curriculum is extremely detailed and this comes from a clear and deep understanding of how to apply the art in a non cooperative setting.

Very well highlighted points. Don't avoid the situation. Put your intent on stepping back.. I like how you show the movements clearly and explain how the the moves work for the situation. Thank you sir.

We have this move in Bajiquan as 盘提步,and I could take some pointers from here and add it to that. Thanks!

But I wanna add that we also have another application for it, not as slipping out, but hooking the opponent’s leg and then throwing while twisting back (if that makes sense 😂).

It does. We teach these as escapes, neutralizing techniques and countering techniques. I always start with the escape, because not getting thrown is always priority one for footwork and new techniques.

What can you do if, for some reason you can't draw your leg? Can you do a defence with your arms and stance?

How different is your style different from the Bo Ding style?
@taichibum

I would consider the two to be extremely different. Many of the techniques are the same but the training system, technical breakdown, strategy, are all different, although many practitioners of Bao Ding style supplement their training with Beijing style drills.

@@taichibum Thanks. You make great videos. I practiced Judo long time ago, I don't know Shuaijiao but I feel it emphasizes more on techniques than power even during competitions. In a Judo competition, the players are more likely to overpower the opponent with strength than to use skills.
