I totally clicked on this thinking it was a real life solar tutorial at someone's house. After realizing it was for a video game, I still watched all of it.

Suggestion for easier understanding: Try to set up the cables more sorted so you can see on the first look which cable goes where

sadly, I wouldn't recommend this circuit as shown here, because the wiring shuts down your equipment one-by-one during dusk until the battery finally kicks in when the sun is down completely. Until then, the blocker prevents the battery from taking over the power supply and it can only do so when *all* the solar panels have lost power and the first splitter finally stops sending power to the blocker. it works in theory, but it creates a really awkward period where your base is unreliable. to fix this, swap the Branch setup and use the second Branch to feed the Blocker. this way, the battery kicks in as soon as the solar panels drop below a chosen point, instead of 0.

I did a similar circuit and yes, it annoyingly would not work right at dawn and dusk. I'm gonna have to try your method
@empiter3359
@empiter3359 5 лет назад
you are right and this wiring is flawed, but some people won't get your explanation: with splitter setup you actually don't mean the splitter, but the electrical branch... so the first (lower) branch should have the branch out to the OR switch and assert the power level your base requires. the 2nd (upper) branch should branch out to the blocker

I did a video on auto lights coming on sooner and staying on longer. Using an Electrical branch to create a different zero point. I like mine configured to 4. It gives me about 1/2 hour more time in the morning and 1/2 hour earlier at night.

Good idea. The ability to set a branch is a useful tool. Might as well use it for both branches. Use the left output of the first branch to recharge the battery at whatever rate is necessary for your solar cycle. Use the right output of the first branch as input for the second branch. Set the first branch to whatever is necessary to recharge the battery through one solar cycle. (maybe add a counter if power permits) Use the left output of the second branch to the input of OR switch. Use right output of the second branch to passthrough blocker. Set the second branch to whatever is necessary to power the circuit. (Add a counter if power permits) This gives you control over how much power used to recharge. The more power you send to the battery, the faster it will recharge, but also the more the battery will be used to power the circuit. Less power to recharge will power the circuit with solar power more and charge the battery slower. Set it depending on your needs.

so im trying to set up an HBHF sensor to a few doors to open up, but my problem is every time i attach a power source (windmill to large rechargeable battery, to splitter) it keeps draining the battery even when the sensor isnt triggered. How would you set that up to open/shut them with timers, and when no one is around continue to charge uninterrupted?

I've done tests the last 3 wipes on my server and the sun is always in the NE, N, and then NW. And even at the top of the map the sun is still in the northern hemisphere. I've tested in all directions and it's all in my video on "Rust all solar panels face north, here's why?" Also, the amount of time your solar panel facing north gets is tremendously more. East got 9 hrs, 29 minutes light, West got about 8 hrs, 55 minutes light time stored into a battery. BUT,... NORTH got over 11 hrs. of sunlight a day. All at the full 20 power. So, watch my video if you don't want to do the test yourself. Just trying to pass on good information. And North stored 13 minutes 19 seconds into the battery after one full day of solar energy. So NORTH is definitely the direction of choice. I power 48 lights every night, all night on 2 solar panels facing north and a large battery. Add in my auto light adjustment and you're set.

Ive a question. Lets think its sunset and sundown. Those panels just gain around 5 volts or so. You got some problems cuz your battery will be blocked, not having sufficient energy to run your load from solar panels isnt it? Im thinking about it.. any better way to run 24/7 using solar panels? Or am I getting the system wrong?
@gordias1046
@gordias1046 3 года назад
Send first branch left output to recharge battery. Set to control battery charge rate. Send first branch right output to second branch. Send second branch left output to XOR switch input A. Set to power circuit. Send second branch right output to blocker passthrough. Send solar panels output through root combiners to first branch input. Send battery output to blocker input. Send blocker output to XOR switch input B Now your battery will kick in when solar panels don't have enough power for the circuit. You can also have control over how quickly the batteries recharge versus how much the batteries are used.

Could be explained better, wiring could be tidier so we can pause and break down the wiring method and that music in the background fries my brain.

the strange thing is, when i try this setup to charge my large battery and to use it for my automatic nightlight, 2 solarpanels will charge and the combiner lights up BUT the other 2 won´t light up and give no charge. somebody got a suggestion what i did wrong?

Yeah right, so you'd need a timer and a memory cell that can count 15 mins to open a door for daytime, kinda unstable as even lights don't survive a server restart. And probably a high up base
@bartoszbaranowski604

Sadly electricity is flawed. Passive components - like splitter, branch, combiner draw power without other side connected. This limits design patterns significantly.

@@Drizzza still think it's a stupid idea for the type of game rust is especially modded servers too fast and furious theres almost no point and has taken away the stealth and stratergy to placing turrets in an outside environment not to mention laddering up anything in a tool cupboard anywhere u want has also made raiding lazy and non strategic. This electrical update is a good theory in official manilla type servers as farming and raiding is a much slower and picky process. Wish they would rebalance this shit lol
