If you can lay tile carefully and in a way you are happy with the results then laying this grout shouldnt pose an issue. I've never grouted before and didnt have an issue with installation. I did come very prepared due to so-called experienced tilers having an issue with it. Get a pack of scouring pads from super market. You basically have to pull up thicker residue with it and wet-sand the epoxy off / break it up. Use vinegar with the washes. Discard the first wash's sponge. Start washing immediately after installation. It is epoxy... its gonna stay there for a while no matter what you do. I did 5 washes until my water bucket didnt show any epoxy color. I suggest you do the same to avoid hazing. Dont take your time. This stuff is starting to cure the moment you begin mixing part A&B. Laticrete should just trademark "Its go time!" to avoid professionals not familiar with this product.

I've always wondered for small areas why don't you just tape off the tile with painters tape and just leave the gaps so you don't have to work like crazy and stress over the hazing ?? or put the grout in a caulking gun and just apply to the seams before floating ??

While taping off the joints might seem like a reasonable preparation for grouting, it is not done for several reasons; 1. Time - it takes a long time to tape off the joints properly. It usually takes longer to grout joints that have been taped and you have limited pot life of the grout. 2. Removing the tape - if the tape is set flush with the edge of the tile, then when the tape is removed a tape line ridge can be left behind which would then have to be smoothed and can lead to haze which taping is trying to avoid.. 3. Pillow-edge tile - this method does not work well for pillow or round edge tile as it gets even more laborious to maintain a straight tape line. 4. Cost - tape is expensive nowadays, especially the tape that will leave minimal adhesive residue. 5. Water - you will still need water and a sponge to “dress” the grout joints. With that said, tape is not waterproof or water-resistant and water will get under the tape and leave epoxy haze. However, now you will need to remove the tape quickly and remove not only the epoxy haze, but any tape residue which is now transferring from the tape to the tile surface from the water. Epoxy grout haze is not a major concern if the proper steps are performed within the time frame stated in the instructions, and taking into consideration the environment around the work area during installation and cleaning. Frequently rinsing the sponge and changing the rinse water are critical to minimizing the amount of grout haze left behind. On warm days, the epoxy will begin to set faster so do everything at an accelerated pace or sooner than you would at 70˚F, is important. On cooler days, you will have slightly more time to do everything. Be aware of the conditions and react accordingly to make the process easier. Keep moving. A second IS NECESSARY. Quite a few people think that it looks great after the first wash and decide that they don’t need a second wash. Believe me, you do need a second wash!! Do the second wash just like the first wash using a new sponge and possibly a white scrub pad to address tougher areas, and again change the water and rinse the sponge frequently for large areas. After the second wash allow the area to dry (you can make this go faster by moving the air around the installation) and inspect the surface for any haze. If there is any, get a new sponge, clean water and ¼ cup of white vinegar per 2 gallons of water. Clean the areas in question again and do it before the grout has a chance to set, because it gets harder and harder to remove as time goes by. Here is a little secret for those who have not figured it out yet: epoxy grout haze is the result of the epoxy solids in the cleaning water which are left on the surface during cleaning - the water evaporates and the epoxy is left behind to cause haze. To remedy this and lessen the impact of grout haze: 1. Change the water frequently - if you run out of the cleaning additive, use ¼ cup of white vinegar per 2 gallons of water. 2. Rinse the sponge often and change the sponge when you feel it is necessary - the sponge is full of water and epoxy solids so don’t be afraid to get a new one when you feel it is needed. It’s okay to have an extra sponge or two around if you get too many, they come in handy for many other jobs. 3. Inspect after each cleaning stage dries to gauge your results and determine your next steps. 4. Two washes are NECESSARY!! When installed and cleaned properly an epoxy grout (e.g. SPECTRALOCK PRO Premium Grout) looks fantastic and performs like no cement grout possibly can. However, if you really want to avoid the above then we would recommend bagging the grout into the joints and striking the joints with a rounded tool. This is a common practice for masons when installing veneers or brick.

can this be used underwater for swimming pool tiles?
@laticrete
@laticrete 6 лет назад
Yes, but it has to cure for a minimum of 10 days at 70 degrees or higher prior to filling the pool. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Can I do the floor and walls on different days? Or will that cause a cold joint?
@laticrete
@laticrete 3 года назад
You can certainly grout floors and walls on separate days. But, no matter when the floor is done in relation to the wall you will need to use a flexible material like LATASIL or Premium Acrylic Caulk at those joints, or at any change of plane for that matter. Here is a TDS that will help explain this as well: cdn.laticrete.com/~/media/support-and-downloads/technical-datasheets/tds256.ashx
