Stardew Valley is an open-ended country life RPG. That may sound boring but it is quite the opposite. We have inherited our grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley and it's up to us to make something of ourselves! We'll take on tasks such as farming(of course!), fishing, cooking, exploring, and meeting the other residents of Stardew Valley along the way.
Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town’s most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness.

I like that your fishing strategy got messed up. That's important, because so many people (including me!) are not great at fishing, so seeing how a good player deals with setbacks is very valuable. Minmax guides that require astronomical skill levels are so intimidating, and discouraging. It's good to see a gamer who can enjoy and succeed at a game without needing to break records!

Thanks! Yeah even though I feel like I’m fairly decent at fishing it’s still frustrating when I follow something that’s like “I caught 22 catfish today” and I’m just like what??? I didn’t even have more than 10 bite!!!

I find its usually good enough to take the general idea of the speed runs and making it your own. You dont need to commit to x money by day x. The general ideas is a lot of help in ramping up, regardless of skill level.

Happy to see another episode! Don't stress it about not fully min-maxing. I find that part of your videos' charm is that you fill that perfect balance between a tryhard run and a chill run which I've not seen anyone achieve. Usually its stone cold speed running, which while impressive lacks personality, or its casual runs that are so ineffecient that they become frustrating to watch. Hope you're doing well in the new job. And I hope your animation channel does well! Its not my field of expertise but I'll try to share it with friends of mine that might find it interesting to keep up with. Have you considered streaming by the way? To put it clinically it might provide a higher input to output ratio if your time between work is limited. I kind of prefer videos, but streaming can synergize really well in trying to get more exposure.

Fun fact about the fish energy:gold ratios. Smallmouth bass are the exact same sell price and energy as chubs! You don’t catch them at the part of the river that you fish at but I catch them where I fish (by Emily/Haley’s house). Just in case anyone was wondering :) keep up the uploads foxy!

I am a new player, but I might have a suggestion that works well for me. If the crab pots are "harvestable" put the bait in your hands and left click I believe "running" over them. You get the trash and at the same time it puts the bait in. So single action required compared to using the right click and then running again and do left click. I think you can apply this also for the kegs, mayonaise etc

A farm style-min max for Spring has quite a few disadvantages on the Beach Farm, I congratulate you on trying it and I love to see your videos come up on my feed again. Hope the run goes well and you have fun!

Yay! Glad to see another Stardew play through from you. Yes, the dog is equally annoying. After my first Stardew experience (1.3) where the dog kept blocking me (it even blocked me 2-3x from getting into the house before 2am...) I only have 4 pets total out of 15 save files. XD So I totally understand why you skipped the pet.

I’ve just started a new game using the beach farm for the first time so was delighted when I found this incredibly helpful vid. The location is really well done and pretty to look at but boy, the no sprinklers issue is driving me nuts 🥜 Once I get my pigs and cows all will be well… hopefully! Regarding the pets; I have two cats in rl and I have to say the game cats are exactly like them, I love my kitties to bits but sometimes I could cheerfully drop kick them out of the kitchen door they always stubbornly lay there as if guarding a dread portal to the undeworld! I think I may rename my game cat Cerberus despite the dearth of heads and canine dna!

I could be wrong, but my calculations seem to show that the mountain lake is best moneymaking before 7pm, but the ocean is best moneymaking after 7pm. But the difference is not worth walking between them. it's just good to know if they are both equally away and you want to choose one or the other.

Foxy The Rule Breaker - Cat hater ;D Mountain lake is best fish if you assume a random assortment of fish. I haven't looked at the code but I believe the likelihood of getting all the different fish is the same. I cant find my document atm, but if you take the average price of each fish in each area the mountain lake comes out ahead in all conditions save rain in spring. I'm really enjoying the videos and have missed your content. Don't be hard on yourself about the missed steps; its real and its really informative to hear you process how your planning out your next steps. I hope you can get some downtime to do what you enjoy, even if that's not make videos for us. ;) edit: I did some quick research and the magma geodes are better to just sell unless you are looking up your drops. They sell for 150 each and after the 25g cracking cost the average price for the reward is 127g. (wiki)

@@FoxyFernGaming Apologies Foxy, it is really not uncommon for people to not take the pet as they can cost you days by blocking the path to your bed. You cant get the 1000 pets for the eval, but the people who cut it close enough for it to matter rarely get there :D

Ah yeah, I’m not sure it’s worth the points haha. It’s just not a very good game mechanic. I’ve actually gotten stuck on my cat before and ended up passing out right in front of my door and losing money. THATS THE LAST TIME CAT. There just isn’t anything actually fun about the pet mechanic.

@@FoxyFernGaming yep, the animals in the game are pretty underwhelming. Even if they did a little animation when you pet them there would be a lot more feedback than the current heart pop-up. ideally having an animation linked to heart level would be nice, but its a lot of work and would likely interrupt the flow of the game. How would you fix them as a pro? :D

Hah, well, funny you should ask that as I’m in the process of making a video for my animation channel where I review the art and animation of Stardew valley. :P There are a few different things I might have done differently either gameplay or animation. If I didn’t have time to add something interesting to it(which I could have understood at first but CA has had plenty of time to add to it if he wanted to) then I would have changed the gameplay in 2 ways: 1 that the farm pet wouldn’t matter towards scoring at the end of the game and 2 you’d be able to always walk through your pet so that way they never become an annoyance. Then it’s just a matter of role playing and flavor whether or not a player wants to interact with it. To spend more time on it like you said would probably be to add some stuff like animations. When you pet your cat, maybe if you have enough hearts with it then it would roll onto it’s back since only a cat that trusts someone let’s them pet it’s belly. With the dog maybe your character would throw a stick for it or something. Basically, adding little behaviors that show up as you get more hearts with your pet could make it more encouraging. Or something like they leave you little gifts once you got to a certain heart level. Of course if this was the case you’d want to be able to see their heart level in the UI too. Those are just some thoughts. :)

I like how you cut out big unnecessary chunks out. It keeps the video to the point. Also, I have seen people move the TV next to the bed - while it is not good to do that in real life to your sleep schedule, it is a good life improvement in this game as you don't need to walk so far to it.

I always put the calendar next to the bed. Didn't think about the TV, probably because other than being efficient for the game, it seems like a poor design choice.

Why do we want trees in the path?

Basically it's free space to plant your trees off of your farm so that you can use your farm land for other things. :) Specifically oak trees for the oak resin from tappers.

Only where efficiency is prioritized over aesthetics, I would say, as there are plenty of other locations to grow oaks off the farm. :-)
