While Jaffa don't have a "We do not lie" thing, they do adhere to the truth very well, which Mitchell knows. The guy has a real knack for warrior cultures. All Teal'c had to do was just throw a word out there that could mean anything in order to support the prank.
I love how the original team members just play off each other so easily. I mean, Sam and Daniel didn't even seem to talk it out between them, they just knew what to say after each other. LOL!
Way Back when, in the good old days, when SciFi was focused on Science Fiction.... before the Era of SyFy, and drifting away from producing their own Science Fiction shows...
I remember from the director's commentary that Mitchell reading *all* the mission reports was a reference to his actor (Ben Browder) voluntary watching every single episode of the show in preparation for his leading role.
@@SioxerNikita The same should go for writers. It drives me crazy whenever a new episode comes out and just ignores important stuff that happened in past episodes and introduces a ton of inconsistencies because the writers clearly didn't care about or know about previous episodes.
@@Subjagator There is something important here. When a show is written, not every episode is written chronologically, and many are written at the same time. In those cases it is not a question of people not having read or followed along with the material, but often a question of two different contradictory things written at the same time, and it not being noticed. You can quite literally have like one of the first episodes of a season be one of the last that are written, although that is rare. Other times it is an issue of the background material being essentially far too large to actually consume. Even if I hired a million dollar director, I don't think I'd expect him to watch 130 hours of material, along with all the other supplementary material that would be required for that job.
@@Subjagator Nicholas Meyer had never watched Star Trek prior to working on Wrath of Khan. Yeah, the film considered by many to be the best of the whole lot. Funny that, huh?
its funny how he doesnt even needs to say anything at all he just nodded in agreement and it was basically established as a fact that oneill is his daddy
A Serpent guard, a Horus guard and a Setesh guard meet on a neutral planet. It is a tense moment. The Serpent guard's eyes glow. The Horus guard's beak glistens. The Setesh guard's nose...drips.
I absolutely love how this scene caters to both fan bases; Those who want to believe Mitchell is actually Jack's son from when they went back in time in the episode 1969 and those who want to believe that the OG SG-1 are just messing with Cam because he's the 'new guy'. It's brilliant storytelling/writing and fits so well with the theme of the 200th episode. They certainly don't make shows like Stargate anymore and our lives are worse off for it haha
I still can't decide if this is 1) a seamless collaborative lie purely to mess with Col. Mitchell, or 2) them telling him the truth as a cover for the fact that they're telling the truth because it's so fantastical that they know he would never actually believe it.
It looks like even years later people don't get this one. The secret mission they were talking about is paid off at the very end of the episode, through Mitchell's off-world surprise party, where they celebrate a landmark number of missions for the team. The "secret mission" was simply to set up. At the very end of the episode, everyone gears up and goes. Walter, Gen. O'Neil, and I'm pretty sure some of the other gate technicians also go with them.
@1nf3ct3dTT has it right. It's been mentioned before that all evidence of that incident was buried because of how badly the stargate program and the entire US government were compromised. Only the people directly involved in the event are aware of it and all written records have been destroyed.
@@ace3312 Maybe not in a movie, but the beach codenames for the D-Day landings appeared in a UK newspaper crossword several weeks before the event. It turns out that was just a coincidence, no leak, no intentional planting, just plane old luck.
@@ace3312 It's likely that if any such events happened, in the movie it's altered enough that you won't be able to glean much from it except the end result. Well I suppose there's stuff like Zero Dark Thirty, and all the media trying to find out what happened immediately after the Bin Laden raid. Some things we know simply because there was no way to hide it like the crashed stealth helicopter, the rest is mostly assumptions and guesses, and the accounts from possibly the seals that were there, admittedly there's only so many ways you can probably infiltrate a building and shoot every hostile in it. Not like they're able to phase through walls, then we wouldn't even know the raids happened. Could just have a spy walk through a wall, poison the target, and walk out or some such, make it appear like a heart attack. Well the one bit of info they released without too much fuss was a k-9 unit did participate. Not sure if it actually ended up doing anything but we already know they're very valuable to the military as bomb sniffers and such most of the time.
Makes you wonder if they came up with the joke beforehand or did Daniel start and Sam and Teal'c automatically played along. "Let's prank the new team leader" 🤣
It looks to me like Sam and Daniel did talked about it before, but Teal'c seemed like he was figuring it out and started to enjoy it when it went along. (after the nine months line there is a smile on his face)
Jack had waaaaay too much fun in that episode. Also, it would explain why Teal'c, Sam, and Daniel were adamant about not going to visit his family when he attended his class reunion. They would be recognized.
That's not the case, its way more likely that they're referring to Mitchel's surprise party, hence the "oh yeah, we can tell Vala about it". Area 51 has the recovered tech from that episode, and they openly reference it later on. Plus, the NID know about it and took part, so they could hardly keep it a secret from the rest of the government. Also, they locked out the Gate Address and made a note of why they'd never go back there. Source: I just watched the episode.
@@vivecthepoet36 but there are no record of it, which became a plot point of "Smoke and Mirror" Mitchell mention he have readed all the report/record so it could mean that he don't know about this.
The best part is, they're not completely lying about the classified file. They're probably referring to the incident where the aliens who could perfectly replicate a person's appearance and personality took over the SGC. Later in the series, the devices the aliens used made a reappearance and they mentioned how it was such a huge security risk that they completely erased any evidence of the attack.
I wonder, if it was true, wouldnt Cam's mom tell him at some point that his dad is Luke Skywalker? That's how Jack identifies himself in that episode lol. Well first he's James T. Kirk then Skywalker...
You ain't truly a part of the team until the team punks you. This was Mitchell's initiation. Still blows my mind how well Ben and Claudia meshed into the show. Claudia did get an episode head start, but both of them fit in so well I sometimes watch a season 7 episode and wonder where they are, actually forgetting they were only 9 and 10 SG vets.
@@Sebby_Nineteen Yeah but the announcement was made that it was cancelled right after this aired, they had already finished filming season 10 at that point
I agree Atlantis was enjoyable and Universe was watchable, but the original had a special soul to it. Hope the relaunch of the original I keep hearing about happens and lives up to its name.
daniel: c'mon, you have to have known that jack's always taken an interest in your life cam: jack...o'neill teal'c: indeed sam: you remember when you were chosen for the 302 program, even though you didn't think you should get in? how about when you were chosen for SG-1? vala: huh. wh-wait, are you saying that jack o'neil is... cam:....my daddy? daniel: all starting to make sense now, isn't it? teal'c: mmmm...
@@anthonydesroches785 It would be funny if Daniel Jackson was his father. Remember what Vala said about Daniel and Cameron the first time she saw them standing next to each other? "Attractive but very limited gene pool"
Somebody said 30185 references the whole "Foothold" scenario. Aliens with Mimic devices and brain connections take over the SGC. stargate.fandom.com/wiki/Mimetic_imaging_device It was later noted in "Smoke and Mirrors" that those devices were kept secret even from the NID. As for "Jack is your daddy": Jack had a son once. He shot himself with Jacks weapon. So he was not going around carelessly adding more children to worry about. I am also not sure if that was before or after Jacks younger clone was created by Loki. Wich kind of means he already had a son, I guess?
Christopher G what about the episode where the gate gets hit by a meteor, and Tel’c digs out and helps raise the gate? She looks like she’s carrying, at least that’s the impression, isn’t it?
Carter asks for Maybourne's help in that episode so the NID know about the entire situation and even steal the same alien devices later from Area 51 to try and frame O'Neill for assassinating Senator Kinsey.
@cowboyman71 Look up the episode 1969. The gate malfunctions and they are all sent back in time to the 1960's. They are saying while there Jack conceived mitchell but its never mentioned if they where kidding or being serious.
I always thought this was a reference to the Hathor episode. It was so bad that it was retroactively made non-canon, so of course mitchell wouldnt be allowed to know about a retconned mission.
When SG-1 went back in time the ' Young Soldier ' who helped them would become General George Hammond but who were the ' Hippie Couple in the Flower Power Van ' ? Remember the ' hippies ' were headed to Canada because the Husband got Drafted for Vietnam . The ' Hippie ' wife was pregnant . Colonel Mitchell , anyone ?! The Team really did know Mitchell while he was yet in the womb .
starfire2rav - you know what? It could be both. Punking with Mitchell as you say. At least in part. But also, it might well have been a truth that the original members of SG1 knew of.
I'm looking for a compilation video of all the funniest moments from the episode "200". SO far all I can find are minute-long videos that focus on one specific scene. If someone could find or make a video with all the parodies from that episode only, I would be grateful
@Daybreak96 haha yeah me too, it would be funny if they had it to where cam is jack and sam's son and they had to give him up for adoption. But yeah that was totally a joke they did in the video, Jack isn't the dad
@muffinjinreturns I still kind if don't get it.I know they where kidding about jack, but what happened exactly? I mean I'm still In the dark. I looked at the episode and I still don't get it. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!
Funny that i get Star Trek ads before this video that look like they desperatly want to be Star Wars Empire at War. Anyway - was it every told what 30185 was or is it some joke/mystery that was never solved. Its been a while since i watched the show
I wonder which mission file is 30185. The one they met Ashen? The one they went back in time? The foothold situation when everyone gets copied? Although that last one is known, multiple people know about it.
It's where they go offworld to set up for Mitchells surprise party later that episode. To celebrate a milestone with the team, and to symbolize the success the show had experienced.
The penny has dropped- Cameron - old son. You know now. The horrible truth is that General O'Neill is your dad. No wonder he doesn't want to rendered visible.
