Steve's Classic Campground Reviews - Foremost Alberta

We've started filming random little reviews of campgrounds we go past. This one is the Wayside Campground in Foremost Alberta. It features around 30 campsites with full hookups. The water was off for the winter, but rates seem on par with other campgrounds, with a good value on the tent camping.

Hi everyone! I'm trying out random campground reviews on our travels. I figured it would be a nice way to showcase smaller campgrounds that people haven't seen or heard of before. Let me know if you think this is an ok idea or if I should quit now and never make another one haha. Cheers!

Love the idea, as someone with little camping experience I wish you would comment on the price for the experience. This place sounds reasonable for Canadian dollars? Love the content keep it coming.

Thanks Bud. My Sister in Law and hubby stopped in at Foremost and the campsite was full for a ball tournament. A fellow stopped them and asked if they needed help. Turns out he was the mayor and he brought them to a city lot and told them they could stay for free and to give him a call if they needed anything. Fine people down south! Check out Writing On Stone and Cypress Hill provincial parks if you have time. Stop by Cochrane on your way home and you can do a stealth camp under the giant cowboy sculpture. Great city/mountain views, “off hours quiet spot”and the night sky’s are great.

My earliest memory is a set of some "flashes" from the time my family went camping at a place called Blackwater Falls. Just bits and pieces; it was in the early '70s, and I was but three or four years old. When your kids are out of diapers, and toddling instead of crawling... take them camping. And not to one of these "parking lot campgrounds," either. Start them off young enough that their first experience isn't colored by feelings of resentment because they had to leave their electronic crap at home, and you will be doing them a great service. . . .
@CampingShack

Yeah don't let your kids stop you...well unless their really young. lol But get out their once you feel comfortable with your kids. Some of my best memories are of when I was 5 or 6 going to Northern Manitoba with my parents. If you can get out there and explore. If anything to save your kids from becoming phone zombies. 😂 Sorry its what I call my older brother's girls cause they are always glued to tablets or phones. Something I don't see in my younger brothers kids who live up in Whitehorse. Now there is a great place to visit. I've seen the territories but I got to see BC and maybe spend a few months in the Maritimes. I got to get on that one.

I know right everyone skips over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and goes straight to BC or Ontario. When there are great gems in the Southern Western provinces but absolutely fantastic camping as you work your way North into each provinces tree lines. My home town of Sturgis Sk has a fantastic little park in our river valley along the river with amenities and nobody goes there. We are just as the tree lines starts and there's actually great places to go as you work your way North of Green Spirit lake. You just need to find them.

Oh. My. God. I spent two solid weeks looking for a video like this for a local state park (I’m in Texas) that shows the actual campground features and amenities but I came up empty handed. I wanted to know what kind of electric hookup they had (what kind of plug could I use), what the water hookup looked like, etc. I’m new to camping and it was my very first time to camp so I had no clue whatsoever on what to expect once I got there. I found lots of info on RV hookups but I was in a tent. I wish there was a video like this one available. Instead I found 48843476468733 videos of drone footage of scenery and people showing off their RVs and fancy expensive tents and equipment. Like, dude, can I just get some actual info? Every park and campground should have a video like this. This was perfect. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

There are many of these kinds of campgrounds in southern Alberta. A lot of them exist because Farmers and their help like to get away in the summer, but can't leave their livestock, crops etc. unattended for an extended time. These shacks for campgrounds with hookups for the RV, fill the need perfectly and some of them are quite fancy, while being stuck in the middle of no-where.

Love this video, and much anticipate the series! Sort of reminds me of Stobe's tours of the towns he visited. Adding some piano music to the background as a tribute to Jim would be kind of cool.
