Single-hand sailing a Catalina 42 from Lake Michigan to the Caribbean with windy and bumpy conditions following Hurricane Ophelia. Solomons is a quick stop, Reedville, Virgina, and landing in Deltaville - a great place to be on the hook. Mostly sailing in quartering seas, eating saltines and ginger snaps to stay upright, and washing them down with Canada Dry ginger ale. A troublesome roller furler requires a remedy and stays get tightened during a quick stopover. Full contact sailing with a beautiful anchorage here and there along the way -- which is what a sailor needs after quartering seas.

Haha! You are kind, Karina - thank you. I hope all your projects go well and your family is back on the water and making great memories, as soon as possible. Best wishes, - Dennis

You are soooo kind - the light was really tough and quite dark. My camera settings were tough - and I tried some slo-mo shots of rolling waves that just looked crummy in the dark . I'm glad you liked what I got - and I'll keep working to capture the drama of the water. Hoping your fall is colorful and deer free. 😅

Your cavalier approach is refreshing:) Plus, the mountain bike attached to the stern rail is quite amusing. I’m so use to seeing a davitN’dinghy :)

Nice video, Dennis!! Thanks for sharing and welcome to Deltaville!! It was very nice to meet you. You can also try Crystallized Ginger, it seems to work for seasickness. Happy sailing and fair winds! Karina

Hey Dennis! I chewed on my nails a bit watching those waves. You mentioned Dramamine. My first time salmon fishing on Lake Michigan out of Pentwater. Took a Dramamine before getting on the boat. Proceeded to sleep through the entire trip. 😫 Glad you are safe. I was happy to see another video 😊😊😊😊

Another great video, Dennis! I occasionally get a bit of seasickness too. Never even knew ginger was a thing to help. Good to know. Ok keep up the great work! 🩷

Nice video, thank you for sharing. As someone who suffers horribly from seasickness, (but loves being on our sailboat), may I suggest ginger pills? They are found in the vitamin section of many grocery stores, or on Amazon. I take them right before we launch. I know without it, I will be sick for sure. Heck, I even get seasick if I am not sitting in the front seat of a car. Also, for me, I can not leave on an empty stomach- but not full, either. Just something on the stomach. Finally, I keep Vernors on board. Boy, I miss the original Vernors, because the newest recipe is too sweet, and not shocking enough! Haha.. Even regular ginger ale does not quite help. I do not usually drink pop, (aka soda), so my usband knows when the seasickness is setting in. Once the nausea starts, I am doomed! Hard to recover. So, I try to handle it on a proactive vs reactive basis. Hope some of these help, I know how awful it makes a passage. Fair winds!

Hah! Trust me - if I were quicker with the camera, you might smile in wonder, even more. Today ended up being gustier than expected and my fridge door got knocked open. Yep, apples and jars rolled all over the cabin sole. Mayhem for a moment. Yikes. Don't do what I do, in this particular example - over provision and under prepare. I'm glad you are aboard. Thanks for joining the crew! - Dennis

Thanks, Mamma - I have not heard of ginger pills. Friends left me some ginger chews, which I didn't recall at the time. I'll try them next time. I've also been told to stick a plug in only one ear . . . An equilibrium issue . . . Hmmmm. For a while, Vernos had artificial ginger flavoring - they are likely back to the real deal. Yeah, one of my favorite drinks as a kid. You are a tough sailor to go out cruising when you are at risk in the front seat of a car . . . Wow - that's commitment!! I appreciate the tips and your support. I'll look for the ginger pills and give them a shot. Be well and thanks for being an inspiration through your commitment to fun. - Dennis
