Happiness is finding a great place to anchor the sailboat. Deltaville, Virginia, is a gem. With places to provision, repair and recover -- it cannot be beat. Solo sailing a Catalina 42 from Lake Michigan to the Caribbean and having a wonderful adventure along the way. Deltaville has a great marina restaurant, kind people, and an accommodating community - a great place to be on the hook. The main sail gets pulled and repaired. Beautiful views.
The Skarpsno 44 is a steel hull boat (I should have mentioned that)

Jooooooan! Leland is a special place and I am reminded of that wonderful place, regularly. My best to you , your great - football catching - husband and to our shared friends. Thanks for watching - I'm getting closer to more-exotic locations all the time.

Great meeting you, too! The trip to Oriental was a bit adventurous through the weather, but good. I think every port I will go into will be compared to Deltaville - like a rural tropical island town without the weather. 😊 Thanks again for hopping aboard - a lot more fun when the experience can be shared. It was great meeting you! And, I couldn't agree more about Deltaville! Wonderful people, floating docks that can handle big boats, and the Jackson Creek Marina is co-located with a full service boatyard. A hidden gem!

Oh, and I meant to correct myself - the Tartan 40 actually has a CENTERBOARD keel (not a "Swing Keel".

The awesome anchorage, incredible services and the incredibly hospitable people made it a favorite . . . And that YMCA rocks. Small world. Looking at this video the other day where you mentioned evolution sails and Doug. As I kept on looking at your video, towards the end I saw someone I recognized. I shared this video with him and it turns out that he did meet you. Happened to say what a nice guy you are. He happens to have a boat at the same marina has me not to far from Deltaville. My wife and I both enjoy watching your videos. You seem to be a genuine nice guy. Let me know if you need a hand at sailing.

it was a really interesting boat - I was hoping we were going to get a tour inside. Another relaxing video to watch and that was an uber cheap sail repair!!

Hey, Luke - Great to hear from you, Sir. The inside of the boat was a shambles because of them pulling out everything for winter. Understandable and to be expected - and didn't reflect any sense if design or construction. In the V berth is a tool room. That's as far as I got. That said, you make a good point and I'll try to give my victims more forewarning before I descend upon them with camera in hand. 😅 Good sports - both guys. Thanks again for coming in from racing to watch me knock my anchor against the piling while backing out. Barge!

Biggest challenge lately, Dave - anchoring in powdery mud in Georgetown SC and having folks arrive and anchor uncomfortably close because anchors are less than perfect I this stuff. I hope all your adventures are trouble free. Thanks again for the encouragement.
