Psychosomatic symptoms are always mind blowing
@notlikely4468
@notlikely4468 Месяц назад
Problem is that psychosomatic pain Is REAL PAIN But it won't respond to medical treatment And now...just try to tell someone that their REAL PAIN....isn't "REAL" PAIN They will create all kinds of psychological defences to prove to themselves that their pain is "REAL" And..it is But try to tell an anorexic patient they're not overweight
@OGBennyGoat

@@notlikely4468 I really wish there were more people like you in this world. I work in pain management and I have fibromyalgia. I don't specialize in pediatric pts but I don't mind so I get the majority of them. I really wish I could just grab the parents and shake that knowledge into them. It's especially frustrating because my parents had the mentality of no blood no sympathy. It wasn't until my externship till I got help because the Dr I was working made an appt for me so I would go. I could go on forever about it.
@waffles3629
@waffles3629 Месяц назад
Yep. And it's even more fun when "psychosomatic" symptoms could've been diagnosed with a basic blood test. Yeah, turns out I didn't need therapy, I needed iron, I was 1% above blood transfusion levels.
@notlikely4468
@notlikely4468 Месяц назад
@@waffles3629 Lab values are a sign....objective Feeling weak is a symptom...kind of subjective A whole lot of diagnostics is analyzing subtle symptoms and then getting the right objective evidence to rule in or rule out the diagnosis
@waffles3629
@waffles3629 Месяц назад
@@notlikely4468 oh wow, condescension, just what was needed to improve a situation in which I was treated like crap and my symptoms were completely ignored. I was exhausted from simply walking to the bathroom, which is literally 7 steps from my bed, but he somehow immediately ruled out all physical possibilities, and that was it. The entire appointment lasted maybe 4 minutes. No exam was done, no tests were ordered, I described my symptoms, he labeled it psychosomatic, told me to find a therapist and kicked me out. Someone else ordered the blood work. Over the course of a couple months I went from swimming multiple times a week to being exhausted from sitting up for an hour. How is that subjective? Or subtle for that matter. Something was obviously wrong. Telling a patient to get therapy for 6 months before you'll even do basic tests is not collecting evidence for a diagnosis, it's malpractice.

I didn't know rashes could grow hair. Does it create new hair follicles or stimulate ones that were already there to grow hair?
@bec7080
@bec7080 Месяц назад
@@vocalsunleashed stimulate the ones that are there. I think I'm being kind of simplistic and it's more likely that I get the opposite reaction wanted there and the hair grows extra + I get a rash. But when you are trying to get rid of facial hair due to PCOS and instead you get worse facial hair surrounded by a rash then it's a rash that is growing hair and an evil monster

I actually get super weird side effects from medications lol. I am actually the first case so far to have gotten severe gastroperesis from Viberzi. See, most people stop taking it when they feel nauseous, but I have chronic gastritis so nausea is a constant state of being for me. So I kept taking it. A year later I complain about how I can’t eat more than one meal a day and I feel like I want to throw up after that, and none of my normal gastritis remedies and medications are working. So they send me in for a gastric empty scan. The guy reading the results assumed I had a total blockage somewhere because the results were that bad. My endoscopy was fine though. My NP realized the symptoms had started worsening after I got put on Viberzi and called up the manufacturer to see if they had any cases of the same. They said no. She took me off it anyway just to see. Sure enough, within a month my stomach was back to normal! So when I say I get weird side effects, I really do mean it lol

I've noticed that a lot of medications list the problem they're supposed to treat as a side effect. I always wondered if it's because the medication just didn't work for some people at the study that determined the side effects and the patients wrote it down as what they were experiencing.

I have a TON of paradoxical effects to meds. Tramadol works better for my pain than anything (and I’ve had EVERYTHING) except Demerol (not an easy med to get lol) and also keeps me awake, Imodium and loperamide cause extreme abdominal pain, marijuana makes me feel horrible, many medications seem to simply not do anything. Thankfully ambien works perfectly!
@tanya5322
@tanya5322 Месяц назад
I’ve had a shot of Demerol once, many years ago, worked great! I also remember that my doctor wouldn’t let me walk out of the clinic, I had to be pushed in a wheelchair to the door and assisted into a waiting vehicle. I dint remember who drove me home, but I remember laying on the couch and thinking “so this is why some people do drugs” 🥴 The only paradoxical reaction I’ve ever had was the two times I was advised to take pepto bismol for nausea. Both times had me vomiting within 5 minutes.

@@katherenewedic8076The US isn't the only country with a medical system. Not all doctors in the US are profit motivated, and even if you think they are that's definitely not true in countries where patients get free healthcare. That means that if Canada, the UK, Australia etc are all making similar recommendations to the US then it's probably actually a good idea for your health

When the “patient” said Cypro I involuntarily shuddered. I was prescribed Cypro for a wasp sting on my toe that had gotten out of hand (or out of foot). I think I would have rather they cut off my foot. I was strangely dizzy, but not like sedated dizzy. More like inner ear infection dizzy. I had migraine headaches that lasted for days which meant I was also vomiting from the migraine pain. And like all other antibiotics I am prescribed I had pains in my guts. Antibiotics always make me feel like Obi Wan Kenobi hearing the voices of billions of good bacteria in my guts crying out in anguish

Haldol gives me severe anxiety and panic attacks. I didn’t realize it definitely did that until I put in on my “banned medications” list when I first suspected that, then they gave it to me without telling me and I began to freak out. I thought it was just pain meds. My sister was there and asked them what they just gave me… sure enough, it was haldol. Isn’t it supposed to be calming??!?!?
