Interesting to see you using the old textiles like this. I'm in the midst of making a quilt as you go hexagon table runner. And I'm showcasing old linen embroidery as the centres. I like the way you've used the embroidery to make a new pattern.

You have picked another one I haven't seen. Thanks. I do a lot of craft however quilting holds no interest. However i love slow hand sewing using Boro technique. Your idea of using the tablecloths etc is great. It will give my work another dimension. I feel an opp (thrift) shop trip is in order😂

🙀 I love the first one I couldn't cut it, unless stained 😢 then it's a good thing 😊❤ The left over will be good for a scrappy quilt. You start with a square or even a heckagon and sew the scrapes on.

I LOVE the way you're creating your hexagons! I do love using pre-loved fabrics. I hope you will keep us updated on this - there is something SO relaxing about sitting in an evening with a handful of hexagons and sewing them together... How did Kate, from her lovely home in Northumberland, manage to get us all hooked on EPP?!!!! Love to you both. xx

Carlos, your sweater reminds me that I saw sweaters of the same fisherman pattern on the Fram when my husband and I visited the Frammuseet this month. I was so excited to go onboard the ship! When we saw the sweaters in the exhibit, I recognized them right away and remembered you two talking about the history behind the pattern. The background knowledge I've learned from you both about Norway made our trip so much more interesting! You gave us an inside-track to Norway. 😁

I love this episode! My problem is that unless there’s a horrible coffee stain or rust spots on an embroidered fabric, I simply can’t cut it up! So I guess I should store my stash in a damp corner of the basement and hope for the best.

When my mother died a few years ago I took all the old embroidered cloths from her house and used them to make an EPP quilt. I then used some to make my granddaughters both a lovely quilt each. I still have plenty of embroidered cloths left so I am going to make myself a quilt now. My poor ‘older’ 😂 hands are starting to suffer these days though 😜😂😂🇬🇧💚🌷💜 I’m like Arne though, I struggle to cut some of the cloths 😂😂

I love watching Kate. I still can't understand why she calls it "The Last Homely House". I love everything I have seen of her house. It's beautiful to me. As a very young woman, my mother made me make lace and embroidery many things for my hope chest. I never did know what became of those things. I joined the Army after High School. My sister got married first (she may have taken it all). I didn't bother to ask about any of it. I have not tried using fabric glue on my hexagon project yet. Glue and paper clips should make the work go faster. I have used washable glue to hold quilting projects together (to avoid damage to me and my sewing machines from pins.)

I think you both should have a pink sofa, likes Kate’s, folks may bevable to meet up there for a coffee and cake. Hehe I am doing a 120x120 inch quilt. In hexagons. I aa on about 3000 pieces of hexagons into it at the moment. I am in my second year of doing it. It’s taking me forever. Maybe 90 by the time it’s finished snd it will be to heavy to lift for mr. Haha. I have put it in hold for a little while, just for a little break away. They do look nice. I must say. I watch a lady called Emma on u tube she makes amazing things with hexagons and then does lots of hand embroidery in things she makes it’s so interesting to watch.. you will have to make a crumb quilt with left overs. Was it the cotton patch you were thinking about. Wish you well with making your quilt. Thanks for sharing.

I love to do English paper piecing and use Muji glue sticks to hold the fabric to the template instead of paper clips. More quilting is fine by me. I'm working on a Penrose Tile paper pieces quilt.

I really love this one. I want to find all of Kate’s paper piecing videos, too, and keep the links handy to refer back to. I watched this while eating a sandwich packaged in a clear plastic container - and I had an idea: to cut out hexagons in the clear plastic so I can see the fabric underneath and place the hexi correctly. I think I will try that.

Please tell me ... do we leave the paper inside the hexagons? I would imagine that it makes the quilt rather noisy and crinkly! And if you wash it, wouldn't the paper disintegrate and become little lumps inside the hexagons? I've watched several times including this lovely reprise, but didn't see anything about paper removal. Many thanks in advance. ❤😊
@danettemcintosh2997

Yes, the papers are removed after the quilt is the size you want it to be. Kate at The Last Homely House has videos showing all of the steps of English paper piecing.
