i love the fact that an ordinary human helped Superman. It proves to me that humans and superheroes are needed to do the right thing and help in this world.
Superman stories are best when he is showing us what it means to be human. He's the most powerful being on the planet, a stranger among us and the last son of Krypton. He could crush the Earth in his fists instead he cups it in his hands protecting it and us.
This show has repeatedly demonstrated that while this Superman is incredibly powerful and exceptionally competent, he often needs help from others. And the examples of Bizarro and the Zod-possessed Superman from Steel's world show how much the others in his life made him the man he is.
Branding matters...people don't look at your face if you're wearing GUCCI EYEGLASSES. people only stare at the logo and forget what your face look like :)
I went out with a friend of mine to a group meet, the group had this girl that I knew but haven’t seen in a long time, I wear glasses now. She didn’t recognize me the whole time I didn’t even tell her as she was talking to me. It’s crazy
@@danieldickson8591 yeah it's rare when superman is acknowledged as attractive in this universe. and it's true when he's Clark as well. if I remember correctly she said she wouldn't want her character to pine over clark. so this is nice
It's a well-known phenomenon that we see what we expect to see, and don't recognize things that don't match our expectations. For Lana, Superman has always been this famous other person. She never associated him with Clark in her mind.
That's so dang true I kept running into the same dude around town, thought he had a twin brother. Dude changed his clothes at least three times a day. I asked him if he had a twin he laughed and said no I have two jobs plus school🤣
wat a dumb arguement, imagine you had a close friend who looks exaclty llike drake, but he had glasses on, youd always compare them supermans disguise shouldnt fool any one its suckx
Plus she's separated, and he's the most powerful man in the world, and they just saved each other's lives. I think that would justify at least sharing coffee. ;-)
Hahaha when Superman said: "You are a really good friend, Lana" Lana looked at him when she invited him in like: "Oh, come in and I show you how good of a friend I can be"
@@sanayairani3175 According to some of the comic books, to differentiate himself from Superman, Clark Kent took acting classes so that his body language is different from Superman's. Superman's body language is that of someone who stands tall and speaks with a commanding voice, but with Clark you see a man who slouches and talks with a high-pitch voice and acts clumsy. Honestly if I saw a guy act like that I wouldn't think that they were a superhero
@@sanayairani3175 you know why u can recognise him? Because you’re watching it from both sides if you were in Lana shoes u wont even see him as superman
@@TheFunnyGuy9000 - She's seen Superman standing on the main street in Smallville. You would figure that ought to trigger some associations (so long as she can manage to look at his face).
People hating on smallville Lana missed the point of that character she legit was the character that suffered the most in the entire series and all she ever wanted was peace and to be loved and all she got was her heart being broken multiple times and dying or being close to death in almost every single episode.
I know this episode ends with Clark telling Lana the truth...but what if now that she's split from her husband, she has a thing for Superman not knowing it was Clark. That would get awkward
@@charlenewalker126 Yeah, Lana would not had invited him in if she would have known that he is Clark at that point. It would be totally out of character for her, if she would try to steal him away from Lois now.
I respect Lana for shooting her shot. She about to be divorced & probably in need of some Super D. It won't happen considering Lois was his first & only.
It's really dumb how she wouldn't know it was her friend. A bigger thing for me is why didn't she already know he was Superman since she grew up with him? I don't know if Lana in the movie Superman 3 knew it was him when she went to Metropolis to see him. That was the only good thing about that horrible movie.
People really need to grasp the concept of "suspension of disbelief" again. It is a story of a guy that can fly, shoot beams of pure heat from his eyes, and run faster than a locomotive. Of course, no one recognizes him when he is wearing "just" glasses. He is Superman. It makes me really sad, that the ability to accept something stupid as a fact has been lost somewhere in the last 20 + years.
I've been a proponent of Lana figuring out Clark is Superman. The suspension of disbelief should be reserved for the fantastical elements of the story. Within the mythos the World is pretty much like ours, except for those elements. I totally understand most people, even acquaintances, not seeing it, but Lana grew up with Clark. She's seen his face and mannerisms thousands of times, up close. She presumably, has seen him before he got glasses for his disguise. And as the current story proves, weird things happen around people with powers. People get saved miraculously, incomprehensible damage to things, etc. Can you really experience all that with someone, and then have it all stop, and then all of the sudden a guy that looks just like your best friend starts flying around in the one city your friend just moved to. I'm absolutely willing to suspend belief about aliens and powers, but not that Lana is that dense.
@@ZoOnTheYT That's exactly the mindset I am talking about. Try to cut logic from stories with a man punching skyscrapers. That the glasses work is part of the fantastical element. I believe it would do you and everyone upset that it works some good. :)
@@thelinsky2319 I'm not crying in my coffee upset. I love getting into discussions and debates about this stuff. We all have a passion for these characters, and that's part of the fun! As far as our current topic. Yes, I suppose the glasses as a disguise IS one of the fantastical elements. I guess it depends on the way the story is being presented, and maybe to an extent the media it's in. It's easier in the comics and when there is a bit of an old comic booky nature to the stories. Let's take the Lois and Clark tv show as an example. The stories were more whimsical, even though often crafted well, and had some serious aspects. Smallville on the other hand really had that, 'what would happen if this occurred in the "real" World'? vibe to it. Superman and Lois seems similar. In other words , within the Universe of the show/movie/comic itself, if people are supposed to respond realistically to the fantastical, or essentially be "real" people, then those are the rules for that story. You have to give way to all the phenomena that defy physics, and yet, not even some recognition that friends and family's observational abilities "work" does irk me sometimes.
@@ZoOnTheYT Well... Clark spent years in the fortress training. It wasnt like Clark left smallville 1 day and the next was flying around Metropolis.. It was a long time in between
i love the fact that an ordinary human helped Superman. It proves to me that humans and superheroes are needed to do the right thing and help in this world.
Superman & Lois is a good show, Tyler Hoechlin is great as Clark but THAT SUIT PADDING as Superman looks awful! The suit always looks in dire need of a wash too!
Lmaoo watch atleast the first 3-4 seasons of smallville before you watch this omfg😭 LANA GIRL HES TAKEN but little did you know in HighSchool you where with the man of steel
I'm ordering season 2 from Walmart. I've been watching the snippets. I wish the TV execs would allow it to have 5 year run... I think they have a lot of potential.
@@runisa that was the shows biggest detriment. I was already over them by season four but they dragged it out for another 4 seasons! Ugh! Who was asking for that?
@@anthonyanguiano5348 I mean I get why shows do the will they won’t they shit but the thing is everyone with a little knowledge of the superman mythos knew clark and Lois would end up together and believe it or not there were some people in the smallville fandom that didn’t know clark would end up with Lois But I think one of the reason they kept the Clana shit going for so long is because the actress was contracted for 7 season and the show sent her up as nothing more than a love interest who was a perfect girl who was popular,a cheerleader and every guy wanted her ect and j think the writers didn’t know what to do with her character Season 1 make her the crush who needs saving Season 2 make her crush on the one who’s crushing on her and then put them together and break them up Season 3 make them friends who both still have unspoken feelings and that are both unsure if the should or shouldn’t get back together because of SECRETS Season 4 The perfect girl has moved on to a new guy but her ex still has feelings for her and though she has a new guy she acts rudely towards her ex for having a right to his secrets and personal matters Season 5 the boy and the girl get back together but they break up because SECRETS and then the girl is sad and runs to her ex boyfriend ex best friend and makes out with him 2 weeks after her break up Season 6 she’s with ex’s ex best friend and is “pregnant” and getting married to the ex best friend and then when she finds out her ex boyfriend does indeed have a SECRET and confront the ex boyfriend at his house and try’s to get him back even though she’s “pregnant” and engaged with ex boyfriends ex best friend soon the girl has found out there was no baby and ex best friend faked the whole thing oh and she also tricked ex boyfriend into revealing his SECRET Season 7 girl gets back with the boy and there both unhappy for the entire season and then she leaves him with a video recording. See the writers didn’t do anything with her accept make her the girl that everyone wants
@@runisa there were ppl that actually wanted Smallville to change the mythos were Clark and Lana end up together. That would have never worked. For a number of reasons that would have been an absolute fail.
@@anthonyanguiano5348 I feel a lot of people misunderstood the point of Lana and clana as a whole the whole point of their relationship was to show why they would never work and how a relationship like theirs would never survive but of course clana fans take it as they keep coming back to each other and so does a alcoholic and his/her can of beer and yes smallville didn’t always fallow the mythos and that’s ok because multiverse but there are some things you can’t change and one of those things is Superman and Lois ending up together because Lois lane is a huge part of Superman story’s and theses fans who wanted them to change the mythos we’re just watching a show and only liked it for the romance and not for the build up of clark growing into Superman
Love the show but hate the massively padded suit. His suit in Supergirl was almost perfect. Get rid of the straps and have his cape tuck into the suit like the padded suit and brighten up the blue, red and yellow and it would be perfect.
I'm assuming in the comics that Clark is still a fumbling, bumbling nerdy guy. This also helps with distancing himself from being associated with Superman. But in this TV show Clark acts very down to earth, approachable, good head on his shoulders type of guy. He's also a handsome guy which I assume more women will look at him. TV Clark and comic book Clark are completely opposites in fact tv Clark acts the same as TV Superman (other than the super powers). Hard to believe people are not even suspicious with so many similarities.
You can tell Lana still has feelings for Clark. She was worried about what would happen to Clark her best friend. These two should have gotten married. Lana was in love with Clark. Lois lane with Superman.
@@thewolfwhocries. Again you haven't even answered how lois lane who has a personality and character arc in this show is plain lol make it make sense 😂
