*TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE* (2022) made me UPSET :( *First Time Watching/Movie Reaction*

What I find really sad is that sally’s original actor passed away 8 years ago so they recasted her :(

It's a shame these characters were all insufferably obnoxious and the plot made absolutely no sense because the acting (at least from the two main characters) during the horror sequences was honestly pretty good. Wish they had a better script to work with than "Millenials with money try to renovate an entire dead-end town in the middle of nowhere for some vague reason" At least the younger sister had more to work with in terms of backstory. But even then, the decision to go back and try and kill Leather Face instead of fucking LEAVING THERE ALIVE was one of the dumbest things I've seen a main protagonist do. "He's gonna haunt you for the rest of your life" Yeah but there's gonna be a whole lot less of it if your 5'1" ass goes in thinking you can take on a sasquatch-sized maniac who apparently has barely aged a decade since 1974. Honestly the more I think about it, the more I'm annoyed with this movie. This is not normal behavior for me lmao. I usually watch a movie and if I dislike it, I very quickly just forget about it and move on. But this one was just infuriating to watch. And I'm not even a fan of the franchise--can't imagine what they feel about it. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand end scene (and rant)

I just noticed something too...the orphanage picture said 1975 and Leatherface was in the pic as a young boy but the original came out in 1974 and he was a grown ass man lol 😆 Also when you mentioned "what if there was a pool of bodies in that water?" That was done in Poltergeist...which I highly recommend if you haven't seen it!! Would love to see your reaction to that one. It's a classic.

If you rewatch the film and go back to the scene where they're entering Harlow and it pans over it's sign, it says the population is 1974. The year the first TCM movie released. Also this movie is just as long as the original. 1hr 23 mins.

The writing was the biggest downfall of this movie. It started out promising but then quickly spiraled downhill. Apparently Leatherface was 60 in this movie, making him 20 in the original. Honestly didn’t even know who Sally was until she pulled the picture out. Yes I have seen the original a few times it’s just the friends group was so uninteresting compared to the messed up family.

If you want a complete tonal shift watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 which is still by the original director Tobey Hooper but it actually a bat shit insane horror comedy.

To this day the thing that makes me gag about the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is that all the carcasses are real so of you thought the house might stink - it absolutely did. Sally's actress said it was super hot during filming (because Texas summertime) and it made the smell suffocating

It's downright hilarious how effective they make a chainsaw in killing people. It doesn't slice through a person's neck in one second. The reason why chainsaws are built the way they do is to use the energy of friction and small durable but sharp blades to cut through wood. They are build for cutting through solid material, not flesh. Would it cause damage? Yeah. Would it cut through someone in two seconds? No, not like that. The object needs to be still for it to even be efficient. Skin snags, it's loose, it moves and makes it much harder for the blades to cut through so quickly due to this. The only thing it'd work good at is cutting bone.

Only the 2003 remake is good in this whole franchise of films. They just can't do a sequel

If you want a movie that gives you the uncomfortable vibes of the original, watch the 2003 remake. It is a damn good slasher and manages to be a good remake without feeling redundant.

I loved how much gore this movie had. It’s was a lot of fun. And some cool kills and interesting shots. Just a bloody time. But the characters seriously suck haha. Few things though. Leatherface was in his early to mid 20s in the first movie haha. Like… why do you think he was old and in his 40s? Haha. Also… They say in the movie a few times that they aren’t rebuilding the town for profit. It’s about creating a commune. Like a hippie village for them to create their own world. So it doesn’t matter that it’s a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. The people buying the properties are moving there to live like hippies outside of the city.

yes, they have explained leatherface's backstory in the other movies. the first one was the texas chainsaw massacre: the beginning (2006), it was a prequel to the 2003 remake. while the second one "leatherface (2017)" was a prequel to the original 1974 movie. the leatherface from the original movies and the remake have different back stories.
