The Four Styles of a Carnivore Diet: Which One is Right For You?

Which of the four carnivore diet types is right for you?
Should you start at 1, 2, 3, or 4? Let me know below in the comments!
1. The Elimination style Carnivore Diet: Meat + Seafood + water
This is the pure carnivore diet. If it’s an animal, you can eat it.
I will add a note that you still want to put a priority on red, ruminant meat since the nutrient profile of these animals is more in line with our evolutionary past.
Compared to the common pork, chicken or other white, lean meats that are popular today, our ancestors focused on taking down BIG animals, all of which were primarily red meat sources.
This is why beef has become the default carnivore staple food.
If you are just getting started with a carnivore diet, I recommend you start here since this serves as an elimination diet. By eliminating all plant foods to start, you let your body reset down to its foundation. Then, when and if you decide to add certain plant foods back in, you can see exactly how your body reacts. This ultimately lets you build the perfect diet based on your biology.
2. The Carnivore+ diet: All animals + Raw dairy
We will cover raw dairy later in this guide. This version has more variables to consider due to dairy being a multi-varied food option that affects individuals differently. You really need to test dairy for yourself.
A simple note on this version is you should avoid industrial dairy products while also keeping in mind that even raw milk is highly insulinogenic and full of sugar, so raw dairy sans raw milk is the baseline I recommend.
3. The Spiced Carnivore Diet
This version added spices, tea and coffee to any of the versions above.
So maybe you do the carnivore+ diet or just the pure carnivore diet and then add these foods in.
4. The Flexible Carnivore Diet
This is my current version of carnivore.
We will look into the specific foods I recommend you experiment with later in this guide. Basically, this boils down to all the foods listed above + certain plant-based foods that can be added in strategically, mostly to add variety and enjoyment to your diet.
There you have it; a simple list of the various ways to do carnivore diet.
This will help you figure out what version of carnivore is right for you.
A simple, yet intelligent way to do a carnivore diet would be starting at 1 and progressing slowly to the next level while paying close attention to how your body reacts.
We will go into depth on each of these in this guide so you can get an idea of the various foods that change the version of the carnivore diet.

So great to find someone who understands the soil-regenerative aspect of the carnivore diet! Those vast fields of soy, corn, and wheat are what is harming our health and our soil, not herds of ruminants.

Day 17 just started for me. Grass fed Entrecote, ground veal/beef/Lamb, 6-10 eggs a day, salmon/trout, liver and a bit of chicken. Cook everything in ghee or grass fed butter. I do still drink coffee though. I eat 2 or 3 times a day depending on my day as I work in shifts which makes it all a bit tougher. I feel good, my body, stomach and liver seem to have adjusted to the diet now and I wanna stick to it for 2 to 3 months

Hi, I went to keto-carnivore accidentally almost 6 months ago and it was amazing- I had so much energy. I felt revitalised and I had so much clarity, my mental health was also much better. I want to go back to it, I’m wondering whether I have to do an elimination diet when I’ve pretty much done one when I was keto & I have IBS so I’ve cut out many grains, vegetables and fruit. Now, I’m well again I don’t want to eat foods like carbs, sweet stuff just meat, animal fats and specific fruits/ vegetables. Would you suggest I start flexible carnivore and not pure carnivore? I want this long-term and don’t think I’d enjoy pure carnivore.

Thank you for this! I couldn’t follow the #1 for even 2 weeks. I failed on the 13th day. I didn’t know that what I’m doing right now is the #4. I really can’t abandon potato and broccoli. But still, my main food source is Beef and fish. I don’t eat chicken and pork anymore. Can’t handle the taste of pork. I just add salt, pepper and soy sauce on the beef, throw it in the grill, then I’m good to go. Doing OMAD.

I have been doing carnivore for 3 months and have lost 34lbs. I am finding that I lose a lot and then I stop losing for several weeks. Why is that? Is this normal? I have to say, I have had stomach issues for quite sometime, I lost my gallbladder 2.5 years ago and my appendix 6 months after that. Because of those surgeries my Dr. Thinks I now have mild gastroparesis. Nothing has helped...AT ALL, until I stopped eating everything except meat. I can’t believe how good I feel. No stomach issues at all.
@ColinStuckert
@ColinStuckert 3 года назад
Yes totally normal. Your body tries to maintain homeostasis, so every pound of fat you lose it becomes harder to lose more. Give it time and your body will adjust!

I lost 14 lbs in a little over 2 weeks mostly following this. I started with just eggs and seafood then slowly added chicken and others as I was coming off of whole food plant based. ( which was more trickery than anything I ever been on) I was able to lose weight slowly while I was active. Fast forward to the lockdown a blew up just from less activity and same diet. . Not the diet for me. Also made my breast gigantic even Before the weight gain I guess maybe too much phytoestrogens . But do you have to omit all vegetables everyday? I love broccoli, mixed greens etc with my protein .
@crystala2834
@crystala2834 4 года назад
And is it normal to be so achy at first? . My back. Cramps etc but this did happen worse when first on plant based I guess just a shock to the body
@ColinStuckert
@ColinStuckert 4 года назад
Yes totally normal. If you think about the detoxing your body is doing from things like phytates and oxalates, this is pretty common stuff. Some people get a rash and your digestive tract def has to adapt. As far as veggie go, test and find the ones your body responds to best. A carnivore diet is a diet comprised of mostly animal products. Don’t let anyone fool you with the typical diet dogma of it having to be all or nothing. Your best diet is the diet you can build around your biology and that is sustainable.

The "megafauna to extinction all over the planet" statement is completely false, Colin. In North America it was the Younger Dryas event (12,900-11,700yrs ago) - that's not even up for debate. Over time those numbers replenished and the plains and prairies were teeming with Buffalo and Bison (30 million) right up until just 150yrs ago. In North Africa/south Asia, there's compelling evidence for a devastating meteor strike that caused tsunamis and severe, rapid flooding in that region which also affected the megafauna populations dramatically. Our ancestors most certainly did not hunt them to extinction. That's a theory that holds no water in light of new evidence. I appreciate your channel however you need to be factual in this space. There's already too much static on offer. Cheers.
@ColinStuckert
@ColinStuckert 4 года назад
Completely false? How many species do we not even know about that died off long ago? Where are the giant sloths and mammoths and mastodons? North America vs other areas require a different consideration. And humans contributed to hunting off certain big game species in addition to climate pressure, sure. But to say it's completely false is false. There are plenty of species that have been thinned to near extinction as a result of humans actively hunting them or simply overtaking large swaths of territory and putting environmental pressure that way.
