The only reason Embiid won that award was because of the comments Kendrick Perkins made about race. He made it about something other than basketball. Embarrassing for the league.
"Ernie Johnson" Well they only reason you're voting for Giannis or Embiis is because they're black" Ernie's career would be done and it would be a talking point for years how he is racist. Kenny would come out in a few months about his journey through therapy and blah blah. Like this is all a joke.
Who cares you ignorant conservatives make everything about race white boy lost because embiid was better in the regular season that what the award is for wtf does the play off have to do with the mvp award bozo😂😂😂😂 hold that L.
@Sammy Honerd they're black. They can get away with racism a lot more easily than if let's say Jeremy Lin or jokic said "I hated playing with dumb monkey n*ggers" or something for example
They didn't wanna give it to jokic because they didn't want a 3 time MVP. Also, thanks to Perkins using the race card and the media hyping up embiid for the second half of the season.
I don't think people realize this but Jokic right now in the playoffs is 2nd in ppg, 1st in apg and 2nd in rpg. The guy is top 2 in all 3 categories, while NOBODY else is even top 10 in all 3. Do people even understand how crazy that is?
In 20 years... MJ didn't get 3 in row, Kobe didn't get 3 in a row, LBJ didn't get 3 in row, Joker didn't get 3 in a row. Then, why would we give it to this guy?
@Project Ex Machina Did MJ, Kobe, LeBron deserved 3 in row?If someone wants to put portraits of those in invented church and pray. And if so calle analists do not understand what MVP means, should quit this profession.
The fact that people are this surprised that Embiid choked and Jokic is now proven to be better is honestly laughable. Shows how many casuals there are that were swayed by the media and narrative. Real NBA fans are not surprised one bit by Embiid choking yet again 😂
@@DynamicUnrealthank you! Jokic is elite at getting his hands in the middle of the lane and deflecting balls not to mention if you do make a decent pass he has the IQ to reach out with his leg and deflect it to make you try again. He’s literally 2 steps ahead of everyone in the league. He knows what your going to do it before you even do it.
@@googleifyouseekayuI don't care if it's tip toeing the line or deep, the point is that ad or LeBron isn't shooting that. A center is doing it. Don't down play it
@T.G Is it his fault he's the 4th option though? There are only so many shots you can put up playing alongside three extremely high usage players in Embiid, Maxey and Harden. I agree Harris is overpaid but can't blame him for that or for not putting up big numbers when he gets like 8-12 shots max a game. I think he had one stinker, but otherwise he was pretty fucking solid in his role. He led the sixers in FG%, TS% Win Shares per 48 mins and averaged close to 16 points per game in the playoffs. Arguments should be made he should be getting more involved.
Oh trust me dude, people are not only keeping that same energy for Embiid but exceeding it. The Embiid hate has united all 30 fanbases on Reddit. Even their own fans are turning on them and I'm loving every moment of it
I'm glad to see it too. I find EmPlead the most objectively hateable player in the league and I can't understand why anybody except for delusional Philly fans can even be a fan of him at all
im tired of the disrespect jokic gets. He is someone who wants to go down as a winner and if he wins a championship in Denver this year it might be time to put him in the nba's top 35. The man is a center having triple doubles night in and night out.
If he wins this championship, people gotta prepared for some uncomfortable conversations where jokic ranks all time, and he will be in conversations with Hakeem, shaq,Russell,Kareem, wilt for all-time centers, this early in his career and to me best already the best player in the league.
@@ibrahimahmed2807 oh please. The injury excuse again? He's had an injury every single year in the playoffs. At this point it's to be expected. He seems perfectly fine whenever his team wins a game. Switches up pretty fast when they're losing though.
Embiid lost a lot of respect from fans with his post-conference statements. If he put up 40 and 20 then maybe I can see it but not 5-18 and his teammates producing more than he did.
@Bojan Nisic That's why even fans need to educate themselves. It's ok to be a fan of a player but not to the point where u can't be objective. Anyone objectively looking at both semi-series knows Jokic is the better player. Even if Embiid was 100% healthy I'm pretty sure this is the same outcome.
@Rap God Reloaded True. Frankly, I believe Embiid's comments after the game just brought more attention to his lack of leadership and increased the criticism he's received. If he just said, "I Got to Be Better." and left it at that, the media will move on but Embiid has a problem with accountability which is one of the most important traits of a leader.
@@izaak496 the fact is that Jordan is statistically better than bird just like jokic is better then embiid, the analogy stands only when the comparison is made between those who think bird is better than jordan and those who think embiid is better then jokic, in simple words, you are actually the fool with the trash opinion
This season’s MVP race reminded me of 1995 when David Robinson took home the MVP, even though Hakeem Olajuwon should’ve won his second MVP in a row. Playoff time came around and Olajuwon destroyed every team on his way to back-to-back titles, including David Robinson, and Shaq in the finals.
Robinson had better team record. Rockets didn't even reach 50 wins that season. And they were neck and neck, statwise. It was no brainer to give it to Robinson. What they did to Jokic is a different story.
Hakeem EMBARASSED Robinson, especially that one move where he pump faked it twice and then just layed it in... im not to sure about who deserved the MVP that year thought.. but damn did he cook him lol
Well embiid could of dispelled this narrative game 6. Tatum was a hot mess game 5-6. His heroics shouldn't of even mattered that game..why embiid has always been trash to me. He rather shoot 3s. Vs dominating is my reasoning.
And Tatum didn't even play that well the entire series, Jaylen Brown was way more consistent than him. It didn't matter anyway, their opponent were even bigger choke artists
kinda like that "we are reopening the investigation to Hilary Clinton" right before election that ended up being nothing... and Trump won by a small margin :D
He was talking about doc the coach who doesn’t use the players in the court and use them to stand around did you watch any 76er basket ball the only reason Embiid got 52 in reg season cause the offense is designed to watch Embiid post up instead of cuts
@@DatFatThor cause the game plan is basically hero ball the c’s stoped KD last year so you can’t beat them with 2 players on offense any nba team that knows how predictable you are is gonna win Celtics success was because of 76ers brand of basketball
So you consistently watch a youtuber whose content you find to be of low quality. And you ridicule a recently passed away legendary player by impersonating him. Sounds like an upstanding member of society indeed.
No need for Nikola Jokić to get a regular season MVP. We all know he deserves it and appreciates it, but he doesn't focus on it. What he focuses on is the more important Finals MVP. And he's gonna go hard for it this year, and I have him getting it and taking his team all the way! ❤️⛏️🏀🔥
Getting consecutive regular season MVP’s while Murray & Porter were injured. Then not getting regular season MVP when Murray & Porter came back, will make it even sweeter to get Finals MVP after winning his first chip this year.
He is a passive player. He likes to let the game come to him, so his scoring numbers are often lower than they could be because he's unselfish. But if you noticed, the game Murry was ice cold, he just scored an extra 20 points, then when everyone was playing well, he put up 30/17/17. The guy is capable of almost ANY number he wants, but he chooses to get just enough to make sure they win. That's scary.....he's that much better than everyone else.
jokic had a better season and was robbed of his third straight a lot of players have been the top scorer and not mvp, that’s not a valid argument the fact more people thought embiid even had a better year than giannis is insane
I genuinely don’t understand how embiid was so heavily favored over both Giannis and jokic. Both players are gaps ahead of him. Giannis is a much better defender than embiid while being a better passer and just as lethal, jokic is the best offensive machine in the sport.
@@bigsmall2842did you not watch the regular season. Embiid obliterated both of them in the head to head. And over the last month of the season he was miles ahead of them.
@@zachmontminy Dude, over the entire season he was behind until the last month, when he was slightly better. And his team still finished with a worse record with him than DEN with Jokic.
Exactly, they throw around the racist card for black players but the real racism is against white NBA players, and there’s even greater xenophobia in the NBA too, I remember when the media used to always crap on Jokic, Luka, and Giannis
@@markopecinovic4475 Nobody has had a finals series that he has so imagine if he was black the amount of praise he would get but he is white so it doesn’t count
Jokic one of the few people to actually start at every position, yep in the bubble he did start the game at point guard early in the season. He is a true point center, something that the NBA has never seen before. He is like a smash up of a couple of great Lakers from the 80's. He has Kareem's hook shot, combined with Magic's passing, and then he ads his Sombor shuffle into the mix and that off balanced floater and it has teams scratching their head. As for his defense while he isn't the greatest defensive center of all time, that isn't his role. I know people say that defense is just effort and motivation, but I don't believe the Nuggets want him challenging every shot. He can't lead his offense while sitting on the bench in foul trouble. What he does do is disrupt passing lanes getting steals and generating turnovers. Not your typical center who is going for the block. We are watching a truly special player here and even a better teammate.
Like LeBaby crying “give me my goddamn respect” lol. He actually claimed to be the GOAT. MJ never did, nor felt the need to. He let others do it for him
Best players jokic has beat in a playoff series: Damian Lillard(2021) Kawhi Leonard(2020) Devin Booker(2023) Kevin Durant(2023) Best players joel embiid has beat in a playoff series: Past his prime Dwayne Wade(2018) Dangelo Russell(2019) Russell Westbrook(2021) Pascal Siakam(2022) Mikal Bridges(2023) When you look at it, none of Embiid's series wins were against top 20 players, since westbrook and wade were past their primes when he played them. Meanwhile, Jokic beat Kawhi even when Kawhi played well in that series other than game 7, Damian Lillard even though Dame scored 55 points in that double overtime game, Devin Booker who had 47 points in game 3 and was averaging 35 ppg for these playoffs, and kevin durant who was scoring around 25-30 ppg for these playoffs. I hope this makes this clear that jokic is a better player than embiid.
Dame- who hasn't beat this guy? Book- doesn't beat anyone unless they're injured KD- some credit but he played super washed Kawhi- I'll give you this one but 2020 is controversial to most people BTW Siakam is a champion in case you forgot
@@UndeniablyTasty there is nothing controversial about 2020. The only reason people hate on it is because for most people, the team they support will lose as only 1 team out of 30 wins the chip. So the bubble gives people a very handy excuse to hate on that 1/30 of the fanbase. 2020 was completely legit and if your team won, you'd agree.
Don't ever put that "Joel is better than Jokic" in front of me ever again! Jokic should've been MVP this year but oh well, at least Joel won't cry anymore (hopefully).
Jokic let Embiid win. He clearly took his foot off the pedal right after the Perkins race card was pulled. It clearly made him uncomfortable and as soon as he let off, embiid took off pedal to the metal knowing it was his best chance that Jokic left open.
The problem with this theory is that it depends upon Jokic caring about the award in the first place, which all indicators point towards he doesn't. If he let off at all, it was probably simply related to his team being secure in its position for the playoffs.
@@Akkbar21 Silly to think Jokic doesn't care about the opinions of his black teammates. He probably wanted to avoid any drama with that crap. You do understand how powerful the race card is? It's literally destroying America as we speak with bull crap narratives. Jokic isn't a robot. The dude has feelings and wants to not only be accepted as one of the best, but wants to win in a TEAM SPORT! You can't win a team sport if your teammates are against you. I think there's evidence of both what the OP wrote and also Trevor's counter point. But to simply wash it all away with Jokic not caring about the opinions of talking heads on tv isn't it.
Last year Jokic had to face the eventual champions in round 1 and averaged 31pts and 13rb while being triple teamed the entire series. Even Warriors fans were saying he was the best player on the entire court that series. The year before that, Jokic single handedly got the Nuggets out of the first round. Both Dame and Jokic had a bad game 4, but in the other 5 games Jokic was averaging 36pts and Dame was putting up a historic performance averaging 39pts. Jokic was able to almost match Dame offensively, and then overcame the difference with his playmaking and other areas of his game.
That series against the Blazers was some incredible basketball, from both teams. Jokic really cemented how great of a player he is with his performance there.
This debate was so forced, the main talking points for the mvp this year were people trying to find ways to not let jokic win 3 in a row. Probably 75% of things that people talked about had nothing to do with what the mvp is awarded on. The debate should be Giannis or jokic for best player in the world, I’ve had Giannis as the best player in the world since 2020 and that championship really sealed that. Now I think if jokic continues to play this way and win the championship he’ll take the throne. I think it’s also possible to make an argument even if he doesn’t win IF he goes out of his mind.
Nah Jokic is better than Giannis. He looked stupid when he was eliminated this year. Hiding from the ball because he couldn’t shoot free throws. I thought he had gotten over it. I hope he fixes it because I love Giannis. ❤️
@@zhen86 Jokič was way more valuable than embiid. A simple eye test will prove that. He's a focal point of EVERYTHING that the nuggets do, and they are incredibly successful at that.
Jokic is such a team player that he gifted his MVP to Embiid, who is not even on his team, just to help the guy out. Dude has a big heart, man. I hope he gets his Finals MVP because his sportsmanship is on a whole other level.
No one will ever vote for him to be MVP again. He will have to put up 2k record breaking numbers to ever get another vote with how horrible he was this post season. He is done as a top star in this league. Just get old ass Al Horford to clamp his ass up.
Thank you for fan-splaining to all of those who just haven't watched NJ play. He's legendary. The same can't be said about JE. Thanks for breaking it down so eloquently.
Jokic 29 triple doubles this season Embiid 1 triple double this season. Jokic FIRST player in the history of the NBA to record 2000 points, 1000 rebounds and 500 assist in one season.
@@FreshPrincex4 Agreed. People were looking for ways to not give Joker 3 in a row, and most people thought perk was an idiot for saying that anyway, I don't know anyone who agreed with him. The media would have won that mvp for embiid regardless.
Hoping that jokic gets his first ring. He freakin deserves it more than anyone playing right now. Butler also deserves it but jokic played out of his mind for the past 3 yrs and still remained humble. Never bragged, never cared for individual accolades, involved his teammates and never threw them under the bus. That’s what a perfect mvp should be.
I think the problem at this point with embiids injury excuse is that at some point if he is injured every playoffs that is playoff Embiid that is the only version we get so therefore whoever is making that injury excuse needs to realize that it is only valid for once or twice not when every playoff he is injured
Joel Embiid is an amazing player. But Jokic is a generational player. He makes everyone else around him better. He scores, rebounds, assists others and plays defense so easily and so easily with defense, that people can't even see that he IS playing defense. Edit: horrible attitude for Embiid though. He's been through way too many all-star caliber and superstar caliber players.
It's a really good point you made that the difference on offense is actually bigger than the gap on defense is, yet the media will talk about the latter consistently.
Kendrick Perkins, claiming racism is why Jokic won, and Mark Jackson, disgracefully leaving Jokic off his ballot, are both disgraceful for these acts. Both of them owe Jokic a public apology. Jackson needs to lose his voting rights for this.
Agreed, mostly in the Mark Jackson thing because I don't think KP even knows what he's saying half the time. He just talks or yells enough to get espn to keep him.

This is excellent content my brother. I agree with you 100% . I actually felt all year that either Gianni's or Jokich was the MVP. The only thing Embid seemed to care about the last 3 years is winning the MVP as opposed to winning a championship
This video came out before Jokic, and the Nuggets, handedly beat the Heat to win the championship, cementing himself as the REAL MVP. It is not even debatable.
Ive always like Jokic more than Embiid just bc of the fact that he dominate a game without having to dominate a game by scoring. He can score less than 20 pts and his team can still come out on top just bc he facilitates the offense and makes others better. Plus hes just more consistant and he dosent take nearly as many jumpers a Embiid
It's so laughable that they chose Embid over Jokic. It's like the nba was determined to vote for anyone but not Jokic. Does the nba still have any credibility? It's not a sport but an entertainment competing with WWE. The nba of today is so pathetic.
I’m glad people are realizing this, Joel Embiid’s MVP will go down as the worst MVP in the history of Basketball and one of the biggest robberies in NBA history
From a statistician's point of view, sport is a solved problem. We have so much data, the only question is which metric should we be using (many since none are perfect). For Embiid and Jokic, it's especially easy since both are centers. According to Basketball Reference, in 2022-23: Jokic beats Embiid in player efficiency rating, true shooting percentage, offensive rebound percentage, defensive rebound percentage, assist percentage, steal percentage, win shares per 48 minutes, offensive box plus minus, defensive box plus minus, and value over replacement. Embiid beats Jokic in block percentage and turnover percentage. I'm all for democracy and voting for nuanced questions. This one is not.
Also,Jokić has a wonderful influence on his team mates,so they start to give their best game and they all form a very cooperative group of a marvelous individuals. They are at best of form at present...but time will come and it will stop to be.
The voters are punks, Perkins put the word out vote Joker again and you all will be smeared as racist. Joker was EASILY the MVP and not just for his stats but his impact to the TEAM in a TEAM game.
The only difference is Embiid begged for that mvp award and choked in the playoffs while Jokic proved to everyone why he is the mvp without begging or any comments his game speaks for itself
You have to be completely clueless about basketball to think Embiid was a better player than Jokic this season. Jokic was not only the best player but he also had one of the strongest seasons in the history of the NBA and took the Nuggets to their first trophy. Either they have an agenda against Jokic or they don't know what good basketball is.
Good job. All points valid. Embid's strained knee is being trotted out as an excuse. He couldn't move well on the perimeter they say. Ok, then why didn't he adapt by setting up in the post and just being 7'1"? Answer, he doesn't want to be a center. It's not flashy enough I guess. Jokic wants to be a center. The best center we've ever seen on the offensive end.
Your right however I known that for years. But again you are so right about post MVP decision Embiid was horrible and Joker shut up all the racist and people who don’t watch the NBA Thanks for the content.
Sixers 54-28; without Embiid 11-5 = 69%; whole season without Embiid 56-26; Nuggets 53-29; without Jokić 4-8 = 33.33%; whole season without Jokić 27-55. Everyone with a minimum one braincell can see who is the most VALUABLE player!!! Suggestion for Sixers: Get rid of Embiid, you might win a chip!
The biggest difference I see between Jokic last year and Embiid this year is that without Jokic the nuggets would've been one of the worst teams in the NBA but they still managed to make the playoffs because of Jokic, while the 76rs could still probably make the playoffs without Embiid.
