When I saw the name of the author I chuckled since “Michelle Nguyen” is a really common Viet American name, but it also seemed really familiar, so I did a quick Google search and realized it’s iamchubbybunny, who I used to follow on live journal a lot back in the day. She had really unique and creative coords that didn’t really adhere to the rigid rules of lolita (to the point you’d question if it’s really lolita) and incorporated handmade stuff, even going on to make her own brand of bows that Sanrio used to sell. Looks like she’s living her best life now on Critical Role and some other things? But yeah as goofy as the quiz was, I gotta say even though I was introduced to lolita via manga and anime, she and other livejournalers like smileysquid really inspired me back in the day to get creative with lolita. This video was a real blast from the past! Thank you for sharing!

My first intorductuon to Lolita was through movies and anime. I think it was specifically Kamikaze Girls and Paradise Kiss. Even though I haven't really participated in Lolita in a long time I still absolutly love the fashion and watching content about it. My result was gothic lolita on the quiz, which I guess makes sense since I lean more towards that and classic as the style I like most.

I used to take style quizzes like this all the time in high school (in magazines like Cosmo and Seventeen) and it really messed me up because I felt like I -had- to put myself in a style box in order to even get a result. This quiz is no exception, except I didn't put myself into a box this time. Lol. 1. 6 2. 3 3. 2 4. 1 5. 6 6. 1 7. 1 8. 1 9. 4 Total: 30, so, same with those old Cosmo and Seventeen quizzes, no actual result. :p I love a huge variety of styles; I always have, and lolita was always one of those that I was really interested in, back then, but finding information on it was really difficult. Most "information" that was available was referring to "the book," and the few sources that I found that talked about the lolita fashion, made it sound like you had to have a lot of money to buy brand or you couldn't be a realy lolita. After watching your videos, I get that now it isn't true, and I've been doing research on ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe in the future. But my preferred fashion style, if I had to put a label on it, would be some weird amalgamation of Pastel Goth, Steampunk, and Tudor/Elizabethan fashion, I've found ways to incorporate all those into a wardrobe for the most part, and I've learned how to incorporate Steampunk into lolita, and I have a basic idea of how to incorporate Pastel Goth into lolita by potentially mixing Sweet and Gothic styles together, but I'm still trying to figure out how to incorporate Tudor/Elizabethan into lolita since lolita is built on Rococco and the Tudor/Elizabethan period is several thousand years older than Rococco. So that's where I'm at on my lolita journey. :p

While I don't wear lolita (maldita pobreza 😭) I have almost three decades of being goth under my belt, so not really shocking my score landed me in gothic lolita. lol I can't remember how I first learned about lolita, but I've been pretty obsessed with gothic lolita for a very very long time and would love to wear it, if only I had the budget to spare for it (ah the joys of having a small business. jewellery crafting is expensive, man. My first introduction to lolita was dressup games when I was like 7 or 8, though I didn't start wearing it until I was 17. I always LOVED Angelic Pretty so much. And Sugary Carnival was my dream print at the time (oh, how stereotypical)... Unfortunately, being a plus size lolita, I could never fit AP, so many of my dream dresses are unobtainable... I'm still very much a sweet lolita, though I dabble in casual lolita from time to time, and I also wear fairy kei or mahou kei outside of lolita. As you would expect, I got 23 points, making me a sweet lolita! The only things dragging me down are that 1) I wear my natural hair and not wigs (thanks autism and sensory processing disorder), so I scored 1 point there (though natural hair is a lot more acceptable now in all styles), and 2) I prefer a purse in lolita (though a purse shaped like cute things) instead of a backpack or hip pouch, so I only scored 1 point there. If I had a randoseru I would definitely wear it in lolita, though! Overall, this was a super fun quiz! Thank you for sharing it! (And side note: My mom bought me all the English GLBs for Christmas, and I'm so excited to read them!!)

I got into Lolita because of cons. Specifically, I went to my first-ever convention, Otakon, in 2004. On a whim I attended a panel on Japanese street fashion (largely because it was in the same room as a Miyazaki panel I wanted to attend directly before it and figured why not stick around). I honestly don't clearly remember any of the other fashions they showcased, but Lolita was one of them, and I was just like "Pretty dresses...." Then proceeded to stalk the fashion for a couple years before I found a couple makers who would make stuff to fit my size range. The rest was history. As for this quiz, too many of the questions fell under "Uh, none of these really apply to me," so I stopped trying to follow along.

Now I'm a working adult and bought my first jsk last year (AP Antique Crown!) so I class myself as a classic lolita though I have some gothic pieces as I'm a goth on the daily (probably why I got gothic on the quiz). Pre-ordered my first gothic coord in October! 😄 What got me interested in the fashion and why I wanted to start dressing in it is largely due to anime and visual kei bands as well as my love of Victorian fashion. while i'm not an actual lolita at the moment (I do plan to start buying lolita clothes soon though!!) i've always kinda had a mild fascination with the style, even just subconsciously. I'm typically drawn to anime and characters that have a lolita style (stocking in panty & stocking, miwako from paradise kiss, shows like rozen maiden and gosick etc..) and have off and on looked into the style for quite a few years. though i think finding lolita based yt channels was what really pushed me into my fixation and genuine love for lolita more recently, so much so that i've started my wishlist of brand pieces and have been scouring the internet for them lol.

I found the music video for Lolitawork Libretto Storytelling by Kanon Wakeshima. That is the moment I found Lolita fashion. I just loved how it was subversive to all the styles I saw at the time in the 2010's. I still dream of getting my first full coord, which will be really soon since I'll finally begin my career. Got 15 pts so gothic for me. I'm a Classic lolita but if I have to choose between Sweet and Gothic, I'll take the latter. About your results, Lor, if instead of adding the points for each answer you count how many of each type, here's your results : 3x 1pts (Gothic), 2x 2pts (Punk/Casual), 4x 3pts(Sweet). So you gave more Sweet answers than either Gothic or Punk/Casual. It's interesting to see the redactor of G&LB see the fashion as a spectrum and Gothic and Sweet being the ends. XD For me, I discovered lolita fashion when I first met a lolita in the Cosplay community of my city in 2007. One girl at a get together was wearing lolita. It was a black dress with white lace, probably from ebay. The girl was nice and was passionate but style wise, it wasn't love at first sight between me and the fashion. Being in reenactment and sewing myself, I could tell the dress would look so much better in thicker fabric and better lace (I was working in a museum with yearly handmade lace and embroidery exhibition by the best artisan in the cities around, raschel lace didn't impressed me XD). A few month latter another girl decided to throw a party for the cosplayers with a Lolita/Jfashion theme. Knowing the real lolita was attending, I did my research to make sure I was doing a decent job with the fashion. And..... I ended on the website of Victorian Maiden and I saw all the dresses, skirts, etc. with lovely muted color perfectly matched together. And gorgeous fabric, and fine lace, and perfect ribbons and tapes. Now I was in love and still am.

I got 15 points - Gothic Lolita! ^_^ Which is accurate imo, I've been wearing way more gothic recently. My wardrobe is a messy clash between OTT sweet and goth with a lot of hime elements. When I first got into lolita fashion in 2014 I was really into calling myself a bittersweet lolita....which I know is a bit out of fashion now (people just call it sweet in a black colorway) but I still hold a lot of fondness for. Also, as for how I got into lolita fashion, I was already really into fashion in general on tumblr during Peak Aesthetic Pastel Goth era (circa 2013 ish), and I reaaally got into fairy kei. And through fairy kei, I found out about lolita fashion! And I liked it waaay more and it has stuck for the last . Nine Years. Hey Lor, I know this is really off the wall and not what this video was about (love your content btw), but you should try american dutchess shoes. They have a lolita section in their genre tab. I personally own 3 pairs of their amazing, gorgeous shoes and I love them so much. I know you're not a fan of real leather items, BUT they claim to responsibly source their supplies and they pay their workers fairly.enough from what I've been told. Also, if you take care of leather shoes, e.g. condition, mink oil, polish, etc when needed, they will last you for decades instead of a couple years. I have a pair of leather boots I got in 2010 that I've been wearing religiously and taking very good care of year after year and I only just now need to get new heals on them. Please at least give it some thought. Live you best life and keep up the content. 😁
