What no flat earther has ever done: explain how they found the data, how they used the data, and every reference used so anyone could validate the data.
In this case Lie Every Opportunity clearly doesn’t want anyone to see his original sources as he knows it will show he’s lying through his teeth. Why else would he immediately change the subject when asked?
Have you noticed when you question flat earthers to gain more clarity or ask them to explain something from their model that they are very dodgy? If you trap them with one point or question, they'll move the goal post again to try to "counter" you with another point. Those things alone make the movement so suspect.
I love how flat earthers say “rare” footage, as if they hacked into NASAs secure servers and stole it from a super top secret file that NASA never wanted us to see.

Sadly, conspiracy nuts just throw out so many claims all at once that they just wait for someone to refute them but miss one of the things in their list and then pretend they are still right because you didn’t cover that one thing. Never mind that none of the other things supported him either.

Once again, the flerfs have to hold two contradictory ideas in their heads: (1) The conspiracy is equipped with unlimited resources and brilliant execution! (2) The conspiracy cuts all kinds of corners and stupidly doesn't check their work before clicking Publish.
I think there is a way to explain this apparent contradiction by re-stating your second point. If a flerf (or any conspiracy theorist) assumes point number 1 is true, then that means the people "in charge" are doing a MASSIVE amount of work to maintain the public illusion. The flerf would say that they "have" to cut corners in order to accomplish everything they need to do, but occasionally in the process they "miss" a tiny detail. The fact that the rest of the footage is great would only CONFIRM this by showing how "well done" most of it is. But if they (the clever person who realizes the "truth") look closely they can spot those tiny errors. This makes them feel smarter about themselves, it reinforces the "power" wielded by the people "in charge", and it allows them to dismiss footage or other evidence that doesn't fit their beliefs as examples of where "they did their job correctly".

In order to convince someone of something they must either respect you or your sources. This is true of flerfs, any other conspiracy theorist, or literally anyone you disagree with on ANY topic. Unfortunately flerfs do not respect our sources, so the only chance you have is to somehow convince one to respect YOU. Which is hard... and very rarely works... and most people have neither the time, the energy, nor the patience to try. Do not stoop to their level and start hurling insults because this will only make them double down because they're being "persecuted". Those who come out guns blazing here on the internet are unlikely to be helped as they're actively LOOKING for the confrontation and they already decided anyone who responds isn't worth respect, but should you meet one of these unfortunate people in real life I can only hope you approach them with at least some level of respect. Most of them are horrifically misguided and are used to being the butt of jokes and it is only by showing them you are willing to talk to them as a normal human being will they even have a CHANCE at giving you a second thought. Will this work? Statistically no, but it's the only method I believe has any chance at all. If you want a starting point, joke about gravity. We can all agree it's weird and implies some crazy things about the world we live in. The difference is that we believe its effects are measurable and that it is demonstrably real. But that does not change the fact that we are still learning more about it on a regular basis and that many of the things gravity does (like forming black holes or warping space-time in other severe ways) can be difficult (and fun) to try and wrap your head around.

LEO doesn't need to do any research, he just has to make one dumb claim based on a couple seconds of video, and that's all the content he needs. The effort to prove him wrong takes a thousand times more effort. That's why it's so easy to be a dumb flat earther, it's the easy path.
Somebody said in a previous video that this is actually a photography channel disguised as a debunk channel, and I can't unsee that now. I don't think you needed to explain 3-point lighting, but you did, and we're all better off for it. 😄👌
Just another example on top of a large pile of examples that ACTUALLY understanding a field properly allows you to not just see through pseudoscience and misrepresentations of that field, but also explain it to laypeople without obfuscation. We subconsciously think of big words and fancy explanations as indicators of intelligence and knowledge, but the TRUE experts are able to share all the same information to laypeople in clear and concise terms. There's a very large difference between sounding knowledgeable and BEING knowledgeable, and all humans have to fight against their instincts to make this realization and act accordingly.

He says rare because he wants to pretend he’s showing something NASA was trying to hide. He also wants to make it seem like he’s special and can find things no one else can. It’s fairly clear that he doesn’t want anyone to see the original as it will clearly show that he’s being deceptive. If his case was really that strong he’d never be afraid of sharing his sources but yet here we are seeing clear evidence that all he knows how to do is cherry-pick, which ironically is a kind of crane.
Because it's about bleating to the sheep, not providing any actual proof. He knows his subscribers aren't going to actually put forth effort and look for these videos. They take his word at face value. It's sad, really.
I have to admit Dave has become my fav debunk go to. He can make videos with lots of detail but not turn it into a snooze fest. Excellent balance between data and insults and graphics etc... You know he is doing it right because a 17 minute video feels like 5. lol Great job Dave!

I would argue it's not needed. However, it does offer debunkers an opportunity to communicate various scientific ideas in a clear, easy-to-understand ways, that help normal humans learn a little something about space/physics/science/etc. It's basically an excuse to explain something and enhance our understanding than it is a debunk.
I’d agree that the prevalence of the idea is scary, but I’d disagree that debunking shouldn’t be necessary AT ALL. We should always be prepared to check our biases and verify our understandings. That being said, we ARE well beyond the burden of proof that the earth is not planar in nature at this point.

Wonderful - the juggling about with the loose GoPros gives views into all kinds of random directions, and at some point or other you would have to be able to see some part of the supposed studio, the camera men, the globe setup, the spotlights, etc. Nothing except space, the ISS, the sun and the earth - exactly what you see in an extremely intensively lit video.
What's worse is that LEO most likely sees all of this too, as he surely had to see a whole lot of this space walk footage to cut that snippet out from it, yet he still makes those hilariously dumb videos claiming this is all faked. To think that this could all be faked, from multiple perspectives at once that can be perfectly synced with each other, shows some insane levels of delusion, if he's not just simply a grifter.

If you look at flat earth comments posted on the last 5-6 of Dave's videos, you will see that NONE of them even try to refute anything in those videos. They do the typical flat earth moves by moving the goalpost asking irrelevant questions that has nothing to do with the subject on hand, evading every evidence given or just go 'uhm no the earth is flat'. It is fair to say that they have all thrown in the towel and given up. R.I.P. flat earth.

The most damning part is how LEO refused to give you the source for that video. It shows not only that it's real footage but that LEO KNOWS it's real footage.
Many people enjoy "true crime" edutainment stories where liars, cheats, and con artists are exposed as frauds using ingenious methods but those stories always have high stakes because crimes were committed. Here, we can watch hucksters get demolished in much the same way and the only stakes are essentially philosophical - what would a flat or curved Earth actually change in my life? I'll still have to drive my car between the lines on the road, airplanes still have to follow flight physics and legal requirements, surveyors will still do what they do. The dangers come from the conspiracy nuts themselves once they decide to start doing something about all the Evil Globers, or (worse!) once a Flerf decides that lying about the shape of the Earth means "They" have lied about vaccines, 5G, and chemtrails. If these videos can bring a few acolytes back from the brink while entertaining the rest of us, more power to them!

Super interesting. I always love the parts where you show exactly where and how you find out which moment the footage comes from. Really shows how transparent everyone involved is about their work and their footage in the ISS. Admirably so, in fact. (Also the photography explanations are always top notch too)
Gotta love the way FLERFers always scream "If they didn't have anything to hide why won't they show X?!? COVERUP!!!" but when you ask one of them for the source of their video, it's "Naw, I've got something to hide, so I'm gonna try (unsuccessfully) to coverup."
The irony is most of the time the thing that they demand be show usually already has been done but they just don’t either actually want to see it or they do know about it and word their demands to try and exclude it. Not that it matters. If you jump through all their hoops they just declare it fake anyway. It is impossible to please the dishonest.
FE'ers are so shady and dodgy when you ask them basic, logical questions they can't answer and/or disprove their points. They'll also take a piece of footage and build a narrative around it. They have to constantly change the theory to fit their beliefs. That right there is why I could never take what they say as credible.
Very good work! Reminds me of a trio on a FE Discord server where someone posted a photo of an apparent green screen showing in the wrist mirror of the EVA astronaut. After explaining that a green screen is supposed to turn transparent and not be visible in the footage, we were able to track down the astronaut who was Italian and the green was from the flag on his shoulder.
Not only was this an excellent take down of LEO, and not only was this a great debunk of the ridiculous claim that 'space is fake,' but is is an outstanding example of how to do ACTUAL research. Kudos to Dave and Where's Wally for a job well done.

All you have to do is read this comment section and see how many flerfers attack the video, it's content, "globe earthers", and common sense to see that it would have no effect no matter who had access to it. It's really weird that they talk about multiple light sources. When you said that, I was looking at a shadow on the solar panel. THE shadow. As in SINGULAR. ONE. It wasn't even a thought process, it was just there. What is wrong with these people. (I was going to correct this by putting a question mark at the end of that question but it's not really a question.)
Well, they are just narrow mindedly clutching to straws. They don't even put any efford into their "research". They just get a video clip (probably found and send to LEO by someone else) that fits their narrative and they release a video about it. Most flerfs don't even understand basic geometry. Heck most normal people don't because most people do not need any geometry in their life. I've seen so many people struggle with the concept of perspective and parallax shift. For example when someone points with their finger at something and that person is not inline with you (so you can more or less look down his arm), it's actually quite difficult to figure out where they actually point to. Knowing the roughly expected distance, you can essentially predict the amount of shifting necessary and figure out where you actually have to look at. This requires a lot of training and a bit of spatial thinking. As I said, most people are quite bad at this.
Yeah, like I didn't know before that the space suit helmet visors are multilayed. I knew about the retractible sun visor but not about the regular visor underneath being more than one layer. So I definitely learned something today.

To the people who think the ISS is fake, just get a good set of binoculars, and look up when NASAs website says it is going over your head, and you can see the thing with your own eyes. I've done it, its pretty cool.

I wouldn't be too sure -- never underestimate the power of motivated reasoning. People can and will fool themselves into believing anything, and that's even more true of people with narcissistic streaks like what we see in so many prominent flat earthers and other conspiracy theorists.
Usually flat earthers tell me "do your own research" when I ask for links and sources and when I do and I debunk them, they tell me I just found the wrong sources but still won't tell me where to look.
When they tell you to 'do your research', they mean they want you to research their flat earth videos and believe what they say. It's basically indoctrination. It's no different than a cult.
Excellent job. This level of detail does a number of things: It shows, in comparison, how shoddy the work of flat-earth purveyors is. It shows that even an insane level of scrutiny just adds more credibility to the ISS footage. It will not, of course, sway the true believers in flat earth because that belief is not based on logic or evidence but on what they want to be true. But it may help those who might otherwise have been misled by FEO and others like him. Thanks again for the incredible level of detail in this piece as well as all the other hard work you do.

Absolutely incredible how many different resources can be used to verify it’s authenticity. Time, weather patterns, video, ISS flight patterns and space walk records. They all line up. It would take so much effort to fake all that. Imagine going through all that work just for a reflection on a visor to pick up your 3 light set up.

I've never heard flat earth people explain GPS satellites. They go AROUND the entire spherical planet and somehow never capture the ice wall whatever and wouldn't you know there's unique land all the way around.
I've challenged those who say satellite TV broadcasting is ground based, suggested they find what they claim is the ground transmitter, take a portable satellite kit next to it, and show themselves getting a perfect signal from right next to the transmitter. They never do.

As fantastic as this debunk was, it would have been completely useless in a live ""discussion"" because it takes quite some time to find the info that they hide on purpose. How long does it take to show 10 seconds of an unknown clip and tell some lies about it, and do the same with another dozen of clips in less than 5 minutes ? But if it takes more than 5 minutes to properly answer with facts to even one of their lies, they simply declare victory and go to the next part of the ""discussion"". Conspiracy theorists have a tendency to believe that whoever is “pulling the strings” is simultaneously incredibly smart and cunning, but also foolish and an idiot. “Of course all of the cameras of the space walk line up perfectly, it’s all flawless CGI.” And “nasa is so dumb for using 3 light sources! Go to the sea shore. Watch a tall mast ship sailing to port. First over the horizon is the topmast ,then the mizzens. As it gets closer the mast fully appears, then the deck and hull. As the ship comes up over the earths curve. How basic an observation can that be?

You use the camera to zoom in on the ENTIRE SHIP AGAIN because the ship is simply out of your line of vision. Convergence and divergence. If there’s curvature, you wouldn’t be able to see the entire ship when zooming in. The hull or part of the ship would be descended. But guess what? It’s not.

I've learned studio lighting tips and that we record an astounding amount of highly accurate data about the earth. Imagine telling someone 30 yrs ago that you could casually look up accurate cloud formation data on a whim. Truly cool.
Well weather satellites back then didn’t update their information every ten minutes like they do now. It’s the benefit of having better memory and fully digital cameras.
I dont understand how anyone could think its fake. Do they really think were faking the weather and doing like multiple angles with literally impossible CGI that happens to perfectly line up with the location it was in.
I'm now convinced that Level Earth Observer is a puppet with a long wooden nose, and no amount of pictures of them will convince me they're a real person.
