I had some knock off heelys that I got from a thrift store as a kid. They had buttons on the side that would pop the wheels out and it took the strength of a lion to engage that button. They were such garbage. I loved them so much

My AP Calculus teacher had a test policy that you could listen to music during tests. He also had an almost religious 15 minute break at the beginning of any period with a test where he'd leave the answer key on his desk in the same place every week. Kids would take pics of the answer key and share it with everyone in the class, our class average was 100% if you didn't include the stoners that didn't want to cheat. He was also the football coach, who's brother had been relieved for embezzling funds from the school district. This was in Blount County, AL at Hayden High School. Go wildcats /s was also around 8 years ago, so don't go grabbin pitchforks YT.

I had knock off heelys as a kid. I wanted them so bad I saved up my own money, and had my dad take me to a shoe store. When I asked the clerk working if they had Heelys, she said "we have something similar?" They had built in wheels but only on the back like heelys, and a button sticking out the back of the heel that you clicked to popem out. I bought em.

I had a pair of the knock off heely's because I though 4 wheels were better than 2, but you're right the wheels were super hard plastic and small with bearings that would instantly fill with dirt the second you walked in the grass. The wheels were like cheap walmart skateboard style. Heelys has killer bearings and urethane wheels

I remember the high school I used to go to... the French teachers there barely knew any French, there were fire alarm pulls every second week, racist people everywhere, lots of power outages, one bomb threat, the place was in ruins and it was the worst high school on the island I live on

I went to a Highschool that was some-what decent but the bathrooms... If we had to use the bathroom we would genuinely go home to do so. There was stall-walls broken down, toilets ripped out the wall, about an inch and a half of urine on the floor and shit smeared all around the walls, and toilet. The cleanest part would be the sink that was broken and not used

As I guy actively going to a Minnesotan school in what is quite literally the middle of nowhere (the closest towns are 30 miles away). I can confirm that these schools are completely accurate. We have toilets and sinks that just simply don't function. Also mice, we have a mouse problem.

My daughter had Heelies in elementary school in MN and the administration didn't care. It was smooth sailing for smoothing sailing. You'd walk into the school and most of the kids were gliding down the hallway. They were so in demand that we had to get a friend who worked for a shoe distributor to obtain a pair for us.

My HS (not in a small town) had a mouse problem. I remember during summer school PE class, someone accidentally stepped on one and put it in to the trash b/c they didn't know what else to do. Poor thing was still alive and couldn't use its back legs. YW for depressing you with that story....

I had knock off heelies! Or maybe pre-heelies? I had them years before I'd ever heard of heelies, long before heelies got popular. There were buttons you pushed and 4 wheels came out the bottom. The pros of that was they could be used just like actual roller skates. The cons were that the wheels and mechanisms made them very heavy (especially for a young kid), and because the wheels needed to stay out when in skate mode it was HARD to get them back in after. Took a lot of strength. I didn't use the skate mode often because my weak little child arms struggled to get the wheels back in.
