www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/G2.... We are so proud to announce the arrival of G2, the most advanced pedalboard switching system in the world. In this demo we're giving you but a glimpse of what G2 is capable of.
I just bought this from a dealer in Germany. This is what I have been dreaming since the first day I saw this demo. Fantastic. I am also a fan of That Pedal Show every Friday. Thanks for all your genius creations, joyful and useful videos. Keep on rockin' ...
Hi Derek. Relays can work well, we use them in our other products and get great results, but our 'zero load' matrix is the next level. Lots of info on the site and in the manual, but basically it's a much more direct signal path. The most common feedback we get is, 'I was expecting all the great switching, I was not expecting the tonal boost'
Hi David, thanks for you comment. You can actually place the volume loop ANYWHERE in the chain you like. The loop is movable. Check out the volume loop demo. Cheers mate
Wow, not only is That Pedal Show awesome, but i have been staring at that G2 for a while now on all the demos, that thing is the business right there. Didn't know you actually had something to do with that, Next level stuff!
Let me clarify, on the Ground Control the names only appear AFTER your selection. I believe in doing it much simpler with labels etc. We'll have an entire range of very easy to see in all light situations very soon
they settings for pre and post are stored with each preset, so you can go from one preset with one bunch on pre/post settings then to another with completely different ones, or with them not included at all
mate you guys have cracked it the thought of having a beer prof switching system is awesome I be really interested in how the controller joins the pedals some kind of snake would be great.I'm sure the design will be stellar. Thanks for posting.
Hey Daniel, Thanks for the fast informative reply. Just ordered one from Matt at Pedal Empire...arriving in the second batch mid September. Cheers mate, Simon.
Definitely putting in a deposit before February. Must have one!!! Our guitarist had a terrible motorbike accident. He is paraplegic but in just a few short years he is out of the wheelchair and standing up onstage. His ankles dont work well, and this is just what he needs to eliminate the tap dance. Brilliant!
Congrats Dan et al, Very impressive. I'm wondering if R/A connectors (currently using all LAVA pre-soldered) are compatible to actually fit the SEND/ RETURN space available. i.e. can you avoid replacing R/A patches with straight for all the input/ outputs. Do you plan to do a further demo re: the removal back panel and effects off stage?Cheers in advance.
This thing is a game changer! I am going to sell everything i don't use just to get the G2. A HUGE thumbs up to everyone at gigrig for this! Just one question, can i use Voodoo lab PP2 to power the G2?
Nice work Daniel. This looks like the new standard for switching and routing. In addition to the G2 I'm also intrigued by your board itself - the trap door toward the back with another bank of pedals hidden underneath... Fantastic idea to have all your pedals available while keeping a small footprint. Who makes these? Or is this a proprietary/custom design of yours? LOVELY sounds btw!
HI Chris. EXT kit give you the ability to have G2 on the floor, and all your effects behind your amp. The back panel of G2 can be removed and attach to the EXT kit, a cable runs from G2 to the EXT where all your pedals are and you control everything from G2 on stage. Its very groovy. Hopefully have he demo online soon ;)
Hi PMP666, How many would you like? You can add one or two remote loopy2's controlled by the remote switches for an extra 2 or 4 loops, or you can add another G2 for 20 programmable loops
I have a Pro 14 and you can't do that to me...Because now I NEED A G2 RIGHT NOOOOWWW!!!! Just amazing!! Thank you for taking care of our guitar problems!
Hi Daniel, This is a great product. Can you show how the back panel comes off with the effect behind the amplifier and controlled by the switching system in the front and how it is connected to the switching system.
Hi there! This looks like a complete game changer. I'm in LOVE! Quick question about the Volume Pedal position - where in the "loop order" does the volume pedal go? Normally I put my volume after my drives but before my time-based fx so that I can swell into my delay/reverb. Would I still have that functionality using the volume send/return on the GigRig, or would I need to use one of the loops? (i.e. comps and drives in loops 1-4, volume in loop 5, mods and delays in loops 6-10). Thanks a ton for your help!
Hi Dan. Say i want one of the patches to be a swell patch with heavy delay and reverb, does the G2 memorise the preset on the timeline and bigsky even ifs its not on that preset before you hit the patch? thanks
It is really fantastic, and I couldn't do without it now :) Just one little thing I would say : on very dark stages, I cant see the numbers of the presets, it would have been great if the numbers were light up. Maybe in the next version ;) But it's a detail I love it :)
I got one. It was great. Then I got option paralysis and couldn't shake the sneaking and probably unsubstantiated feeling that my tone was affected by it, and downgraded to a couple of quartermasters. Now I have option limitations, and am setting up the G2 again. My only real complaint is the connector spacing, which limits the kind of cables you can use - I bought about £60 of pancake head leads to find they're too wide for it.
Daniel is there a way to run the Strymon Mobiusi into the G2 so that you can utilize the Pre/Post feature of the Möbius. I run all my dirt pedals into the effects loop of the möbius so I can run some Pre (vibe/flange) and some post (tremolo , etc)? Thanks.
pretty nice demo! it's improved a lot in its features. I'm little greedy for having more banks and stereo loops. that would be great if the bank is increasable so that it can save one song per bank during performance, it's really useful for syncing effect in each of the song tempo. as mentioned there will be extension kits, will you also make something like Remote loopy in 4 stereo loops to extend the loop 10 of G2 which can be controlled by the Remote switches of G2? greediest user :P
Hi Daniel. I noticed you have an Analogman Bi Chorus with the Deep Switch option. I do have the same one. Did you notice some added white noise when the switch is on the left or right position?
Daniel, what can be done if I need more than 10 loops? Can two G2s be linked via midi? if so, would I have the ability to control pedal order across both G2s?
Hey Daniel, this thing is spectacular, first off. However, I'm playing a Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister 36 and the footswitch is midi controlled. I'm wondering if I'm able to change channels/functions/what have you with this. It's been like pulling teeth to find out which loopers will do this so I don't have to have the footswitch on my board. Anywho, thanks in advance. I'm new to big boards, so I'm a little dumb ;)
so if i plugged my guitar into a wha and then the wha into the input would that work just fine? so i would have constant acsess to use the wha on everything?
Such a Controller must have a LCD display like the ground control by voodoo lab to program different pedals in different combinations. need to be able to name them and be able to see it!
I have a Pedal Train Pro, which is almost full. I'd love to integrate a G2, it seems just right for what I need, but it will blow out my space capacity. I just noticed in this video, pedals are sitting on top of each other on a second tier! Do you know of any products I can do that with a Pedal Train Pro, so I can fit a G2?
I just bought 2 voodoo lab pedal switchers and a commander. Not sure if you are familiar with those products, but now that I have found this I am about to return them and buy a G2. so my question is your bypass matrix - how does it compare to the seemingly extremely high quality of the voodoo lab pedal switcher nitrogen gold sealed relays. I'm pretty much already sold because of the extreme functionality but give me the pitch
What do u do if u have more than 10 pedals? Say 13? And the ones over ten being the ditto looper, ehx freeze and a tc tuner..keep them out of the g2 since theyre (for lack of a better term) not as important as the actual effects? Thanx in advanced! Cant wait to order one
Hi There Daniel, I'm a lazy Fkr, Would i have to keep pressing all the digits to get my sound everytime or do it once into memory,,,,,,,,,,,,,Nice pedal and an improvement from some of the other stuff around,,,,,,,,,,,,
Yeah what a pain in the a** those proprietary foot controllers are. Your best bet is some sort of midi/amp interface cable from RJM I reckon. And even then the limited midi functionality of the G2 may still be an issue.
Hi, is it possible or in the future to copy a G2's bank in another bank ? because it is not very easy to redo an entire bank to maker just little difference with another bank . tha,ks
Oh I see , I was also been told to connect the ROLAND GR-55 ( excuse me for the typo on the original message ) to the Behringer FCB foot controller but I always wanted to try out the gigrig since it seems far simpler to program and operate , thanks a lot for your help , if there's anything else along the way I need to know I'll ask you , you're great help Daniel =)
Will the G2 allow me to change amp channels, turn on fx pedals in amps fx loop, and turn on pedals in front of amp with 1 button press? basically can i set up presets to change amp channels and add different stompboxes in simultaneously?
I wish he would demo this without compressor on since 98% of guitarists don't use one. Also dislike any pre-gain besides my pedals. Still the best I've heard!
Is it possible to make it switch amp channels? I have an blackstar 104el34 which uses a DB9 connector switch, there is midi in/out as well though. Would that work?
Hi there, that's great. The wait list St the moment is 6-8 weeks. I'd suggest getting over to TheGigRig site and getting a deposit as the next batch are going fast :)
I didn't see anywhere during the demo what the wiring section looks like. Currentlyusing the One Control Crocodile Tail but you would never be able to get tight pedalspacing like that with it. All in all, the G2 looks to be a very intelligently designed unit with great featuresthat have me thinking it might just be time for a switch.
Great piece of kit!! Just one question before I start to save for one, could I have it so that the GigRig was the only thing I had onstage whilst I had my pedalboard hidden away behind an amp but still connected for example? Or does the GigRig have to be on the board to be able to connect to the pedals?
absolutely, I use my G2 remotes switches to control 2 Remote Loopy2's, so I have another 4 loops that i can program. Anything that can be controlled by a latching switch can be controlled by the G2 Remote Switches ;)
