🔍 The Great Carb Debate: Exposing Dietary Guidelines | The Meat Medic Podcast with Dr. Suresh Khirwadkar 🥩📚
Welcome to this episode of The Meat Medic Podcast where I stand up (quite literally) to tackle the controversial topic of carbohydrate consumption according to the US, UK, and Australian dietary guidelines. 🌏🍞
In a shift from the norm, I've decided to deliver this episode on my feet, energised and ready to dissect the "absolutely disgusting" and "bogus" recommendations for carb intake that these guidelines promote. 🚶‍♂️🚫
Prepare to be intrigued as I break down why these guidelines might as well be a recipe for a health disaster, advocating for shockingly high amounts of carbohydrates that seem more fiction than nutrition fact. 📖❌ With a mix of critical analysis and straightforward talk, I question the logic behind suggesting we fuel up on carbs as if preparing for a marathon we never signed up for. 🏃‍♂️💭
I aim to make you rethink everything you've been told about carbs. Imagine visualising the recommended carb intake with actual food items - it's an eye-opener! 🍯🥕👀
While I've faced some backlash from my previous discussions, especially around the carnivore diet, this episode aims to provide clarity and add some rationale for advocating a significantly lower daily carb intake of 10 to 15 grams. 🍖🔍
This isn't just another rant but a call to critically evaluate the one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition that's been widely accepted. Join me, Dr. Suresh, as we explore the depths of dietary guidelines and consider a more balanced, evidence-based approach to eating. 🎙️🥗 #CarbControversy #DietaryGuidelinesDebate #MeatMedicine

What do you think? is 400g of sugar a day just fine? Or dangerous and disgusting?
@blahblah6725
@blahblah6725 4 месяца назад
I agree sugar is dangerous. I am in agreement about limiting carbs/sugar for health, and your number 10 to 15 grams is about the amount I believe safe. I count the carbs even in meat and eggs. I don't eat eggs everyday, but when I make eggs I might eat 6 or 8 eggs, and I count that as 1/2 gram carb per egg. About the US/UK/Australia guidelines, you are ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CORRECT. Perhaps you aware that US National Academy of sciences published Dietary Reference Intake (DRI 2005) in which it states the minimum requirement of carbohydrate compatible with life is ZERO. That's right, zero carbs. DRI 2005 does not even recognize that there are carbs in meat and eggs. That same publication in year 2005 says they "set" the minimum recommendations to 35 %. "set" is an interesting choice. It means they made it up. They simply made it up. I am repeating myself to express my disgust.

@@Ashlyn-qg5tt Sugar causes inflammation. Eat an orange, yes you get vitamin C. Vitamin C won't save you from diabetes. Yes, you get potassium. Potassium won't save you from diabetes. Yes, it has fiber. Fiber won't save you from constipation or diarrhea. Cancer cells feed on the fermentation of glucose. When your blood sugar is high everyday, you become insulin resistant. So maybe when you are young you can eat fruit and your pancreas will pump out insulin and the sugar in your blood will seem normal. But the insulin itself, even if your blood sugar is not severely elevated, the insulin itself can give you kidney stones, heart attack, and a host of other diseases. Don't be G-d's accountant, calculating the books on this micronutrient and that micronutrient. Most of the information you think you know about nutrition may be false. The food pyramid was false. It said eat carbs. I have beeen carnivore sixteen months. No plants. I am healthier because of it. My body weight improved. My skin improved. My mind improved. My muscles improved. My gastro-intestinal tract improved. I am 64 years old. Youngsters fool themselves that they can eat fruit and grain and a host of other plants, and don't realize their youthful body is under stress, that they are less than they could be. I know beautiful ladies that reach their mid-thirties, and they are having digestive problems, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, depression, anxiety, really bad cramps for they self-medicate with marijuana. All day long they are nibbling on pizza, coffee with sugar, tea with sugar, maybe some fruit yogurt. They can't go 5 hours without feeding the addiction. They gain weight, then tell me they cannot lose even one pound of body weight. They just get fatter.

The government food guidelines become regulations for professional practice of registered dieticians. If a registered dietician tells you not to eat carbs, they lose their registration. Which means they cannot work in the field of dietary advice. This means hospitals will feed carbs to diabetic patients. Military will fatten up their soldiers with carbs. Old age care homes will feed carbs to the elderly, weakening their health. Schools will feed carbs to their students for lunch, making the kids fat; harming their brain development, their hormonal systems, their reproductive capability as they mature through puberty and into their college years. Do I have to say it? We are in a pandemic of Diabetes, Alzheimer's, Cardiovascular disease, mental illness, autoimmune diseases, reproductive system diseases, cancers. How did it get this far?

@Mallchad
@Mallchad 4 месяца назад
The part is they justified this by telling us carbs digests slower than sugar. Yeah. like 20% slower if we're being generous. It's still 400g of sugar which are all absorbed within roughly 1 hour reguardless of carb source. Pure glucose and fructose. and the human capacity for carbohydrates in the blood is... About 4 grams
@trail.blazer

I'm inclined to agree with you on the 10-15g of carbs. I've pretty much always eaten a bit of carbs at around that level and I've never been zero carbs. That might be why I've never had an issue with low carb. Who knows? I am after all just yet another N=1. 400g of carbs in any form is disgusting. Even 60 years ago it would have been very difficult for most people to have even got close to that amount. We are being advised to eat a physiologically inappropriate diet.

10-15 grams of sugar a day is a small handful of berries. How about just keeping it under 100 grams of carbs a day? That's much more practical and would still be huge improvements to most western diets, especially if they are also eliminating all the processed foods and seed oils.

Now you are making more sense. For people who don’t have underlying conditions. 10-15 g of carb should be fine. But the problem people have is once they start carb, they can’t stop at 10-20g. A lot of people lose control of it and take a lot of more than 10-20g per day.

Short-grain rice has uses, if your phone falls into the baby's bath, slip it into a knee-high stocking, tie the top to keep rice out of the ports on the phone and put into your container of rice and let it get dry.
@trail.blazer
@trail.blazer 4 месяца назад
Except putting electrical devices to dry in rice does not work. So, rice is not even useful for that. Having said that, white rice is at least somewhat innocuous. If you really want to eat carbs, it is quite a pure carb to eat without the anti-nutrient issues as long as it is well cooked and eaten hot.

👍Thank you Dr Suresh 👏& Greetings from Singapore 🥰 Realistically for fruits, to achieve 10g of carbs (for lean and petite women) 😊, we can only consume 100g of fruit(s). I am into Immunology and Gerontology research work in Asia. And I advocate an animal-based diet with some raw (like the Japanese) alternating with some cooked meat (including exotic meat) and seafood, very minimal fruits (low sugar & high fibre types) and some fermented foods. Personally, I do eat some selected dairy, certain superfoods and raw bee pollen honey (only when pathogens overwhelmed the body). I eschew all cooked Carbs. IF is very important to practise and it definitely helps to restore and regenerate new cells. I fully agree that all 3 Dietary Guidelines are insane. 400g of carbs is detrimental to our health. These Dietary Guidelines will lead to an increase in the number of diabetics, metabolic, chronic and autoimmune disorder patients.

@KismetWLS
@KismetWLS 4 месяца назад
The RDAs came about because of war time rationing, government researchers were trying to sort out nutrition requirements for soldiers, and that was expanded to include everyone else. They got many things wrong of course, including underestimating proteins because they didn't know what some of your systems did with it, and over estimating carbs and Vitamin C.

Now the difference will be felt more or less depending on the person but to generalize like that is hogwash.
