Please forgive the personal nature of this comment. My husband died six months ago. We were on vacation in Maine and he suffered a stroke. I spent two awful days in a hotel room waiting for the cremation man to bring me Robert's ashes. What prevented me from going absolutely crazy was Nick DiRamio. I binged watched Nick's videos, and the humor, sweetness and charm helped me get through a truly demented situation. I'm writing this now to say, Thank You, Nick. You probably help more people than you know.

Now that's SCARY On a real note I had a lady youth pastor at 17 push so hard to Baptis me like she was getting commission. I told her abt my SxAsslt & that I'm Pan. I refused to turn into a robot to fit their mold. She literally said "Yeah, so? Everyone's got baggage but God will fix it if you get baptized than he'll find a nice boy to keep you on the "right" path" TF. That's stuck w me my entire life tbh. random nitpicking pet peeve of mine, front desk people at hotels aren't supposed to say a room number out loud. you can get written up for that. you typically tell the guest what floor they're on and point at the key card holder where the room number is written. it's a safety thing to prevent stalkers/DV and protect guest info. (I've worked in chain and boutique hotels for 7+ years and that's a rule at all of them)

Yes, I've noticed that too. The only time I have had my room said out loud was at a BnB and I was the only guest in main office, and the rooms were like separate cottages. Any hotel writes it on a slip of paper and hands it to you with your key card

As for the bank/credit thing, I'm a stay-at-home mom, because it's cheaper for our family, and I technically can't include my husband's income when applying for a credit card in most states. It enrages me that older generations will glorify a "housewife" only to essentially trap the person by withholding credit and sometimes making it more difficult to find a job after the fact because of "resume gaps." Also this feels only semi-related but I have a friend in Kansas who was dealing with homelessness, found an apartment, and was then kicked back out onto the streets because they deemed him "unstable" in the past for previously being without a home. Our country seems hell bent on keeping people down in a lot of areas.
@cam4636
@cam4636 2 года назад
Yeah, the reason they're glorifying it is to cover up the part where you get trapped. Two sides of the same coin--you should stay with/dependent on your husband as the Head of the Household whether you're happy or not, and you'd be happy if only you shut up and stayed dependent on your husband, the Head of the Household. Same as 'stick with him even if he cheats, beats you, or is a terrible father to your children, because he's your husband and divorce is evil.'

It's genuinely insane that it's more financially feasible for a couple to have one person be without a paying job and stay home full time than it is to pay for adequate childcare. Several coworkers of mine left recently for this exact reason and as a childless person, it is baffling to me. They don't even pay childcare workers well! More workplaces need to offer daycare for their employees.

Couldn't agree more with the last statement. People don't seem to realize how expensive poverty is. I've been homeless before and the everyday expenses made it so I couldn't possibly save for a down payment on a place. Staying in Motels costs me over $3000 a month. Thing like that and payday loans make you pay penalty for being broke.
@LanaAndJen
@LanaAndJen Год назад
How do you get away with not including your husbands income? Now that I’m married, I have to include my husbands income on everything. I’m about to get screwed on financial aid because the university I go to noticed I got married and that I didn’t include my husbands income in my FAFSA (I didn’t know I needed to, it didn’t ask for it). We don’t share our finances, so I’m not really benefiting financially from being married, other than knowing I won’t starve or be homeless when my income doesn’t stretch far enough

When I found out for example; not able to have a bank account. I asked my aunt who is 22 years older then my mom; how did I not know about this?? I even called a couple of friends I still have from high school. We went to a Catholic high school. I asked if our teachers ever brought this up?? Both said no. My aunt who was working & single at the time, said It was a common thing that women would just have a hiding spot for their money in their house and that was their bank. Since this discussion was recently, You mentioning it made me feel like I had to vent, How did I go through life not Knowing this information. I'm embarrassed. Certainly they should know better by now, but they clearly don't. Instead of treating the matter of suicide with respect and delicacy, do they seriously want to portray this as a 'horror' movie and ignore that mental illness exists? I haven't watched the rest of this video yet, but I can assume that is what this film does... Why not go for a message that religion can help with mental illness along side proper therapy and treatment? To me it seems like that would emphasize the good part of the religion without being very problematic at all. But no...
