The turner super sidekick is really tough to beat in my opinion. Sure it doesn't have roger doger beeps or super trucker echo but they do have super clear audio.

Astatic 1104C was a great microphone also.

Good Video keeping us informed! Most these older mics some are harder to come by. It's a shame some cb shops put pics online and click here to buy a desk mic. But there's nothing but same old 1 or 2 desk mics. . I had 3 astatic red devil mics I have often wondered where can I get a PTT switch that doesn't fail instead of a whole new mic ? The Tone" is great the switch quality is poor fails reclean 30 days later crackling .

Several years ago I bought an old Yaesu FT-DX 560. This is an Amateur HF radio from the early '70s. It is a tube radio for the most part. It did not come with a mic. I completely rebuilt it over a couple of years. new everything. For a mic I found a D104 "gray base" on eBay. It was in beautiful cosmetic condition, and I got it for just under $50. But I was unable to save the cord or any of the internals. Just like the radio, it had to be completely rebuilt. But both the radio and mic work beautifully. Nothing digital. That radio and mic are the centerpiece of my radio shack. I have a CB in my truck. AM only. It is an RCA Co Pilot 14T270. Nothing digital on it either. The channel numbers are actually printed on the channel selector dial, just like an old '70s TV. Even with stock power and the stock mic (and a little tuning) it performs better than any modern stock AM radio I have heard. I did get that one NIB on eBay. I have never used roger beeps and echo boards on CB. Roger beeps don't really bother me, but some idiot with an echo board and their modulation turned up way to high is more than I can deal with. For me, other than something to work on, radios are about communication. The roger beep at least has a purpose, I totally don't understand all the crazy sound effects toys. They sound very teenagish to me. There is a reason why they are not used on amateur radio.

I have the Avair AV-908 Desk Mic, wired too a Q6, and an Alicnco Desk Mic for my Dx-Sr8e. Great video, shame there wasn't a vocal comparison so we can hear the difference. 73's The 407 Mcr 👋

I have a couple of Red Devils myself. And yes I've had a few issues with them with the push-to-talk. But I have found if you use CRC electric silicone lubricant it will do miracles for the push-to-talk. I've had both Road Devils for a little more than a year now and I think I spray them at least once and it generally fixes the problem. One microphone that you did not mention that is a very good mic that I stumbled upon is called the KPO NM532.... I purchased this mic about 3 months ago and it is been a great microphone...

Looking forward to seeing this one buddy. I'm pretty partial to my current desk mic setup.
