Hey guys...so I converted my 93mph Slash High CG speed run car back to an off road car. But I kept the Mod1 gears (34 spur and 22 Pinion) and 3670 sized motor(2650 kv). Well it had a lot of power...enough to rip the rim and tire right apart. Something wasn't right with the drivetrain it seems. Maybe I destroyed the motor by overheating it.. The gears seem fine but it makes this weird shuttering and vibration and won't rev to full speed. I need to investigate the issue. Anyway's she will be back...lol.(Upon investigation I think my plastic rear diff housing is the issue causing the ring and pinion in the diff to not mesh smoothly).

I would suggest lowering the ride height a bit, having the A-arms approximately level will help stability quite a bit.

Not to mention it would be less angle and stress on the driveshaft joints.

Yeah...kinda dumb but I already had it set up with mod1 gears after converting it from a speed run car back to dirt. And the crazy thing is it is running street tires...lol. If I had some kinda tread it would be harder to drive.

Thats awesome. I got a Traxxas Slash 4x4 VXL and so far I am loving it. I put the Pro-Line Body Lift on, Badlands tires, and I had to go from 13 pinion to a 12 pinion because I noticed with running the 2.8 tires that motor was getting hot fast. Im running 3s batteries and its perfect. I can still control it while offroad and on road without it getting to out of control. But 6s, I couldn't do that. Lol I spend more time trying to control it then me actually driving it. Lol Awesome video

Yeah the Slash is perfect the way it is. Its even better than the Rustler because the tires are smaller. The whole reason this car ended up with mod 1 gears and on 6s is that it was a speed run street car that I did 93Mph with before. I switched it back to dirt and built a new Slash 4x4 low center of gravity speed run car that has done 122Mph so far. The Slash in this video enjoys an easy life now...lol.

Changed the spur to 38 and pinion still 22 Mod1. Also shimmed the ring gear and bevel gear in the rear end. Just ran it and its way better. Still cold here in Toronto so speed runs are on hold for a week.

Nice !! Dam that truck has CRAZY power . What type of motor are you using ? I’m looking to upgrade my Slash VXL stock motor . I also just upgraded to the MIP x-Duty axles because I snapped a couple drive shafts moving up to just a 3s battery . I haven’t had a problem since . But dam your truck is insane lol I love it 🤘🏻 I’m looking to get into the 70’s mph area . If I can do that I’ll be happy . But it’s proteome anything else , once I get use to that speed I’ll want more lol . So yea what type of motor are you running in that . Thanks and great video lol

There was actually a problem with the diff binding in this video. I shimmed it and there's a better a better video of the truck here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qjAQrgv6wgA.html To be honest the Slash is too light for extreme power unless you are making it a street car and doing speed runs. Off road it isn't any good on 6s because you need to upgrade too many parts when in the end an Arrma Typhon 6s is only slightly more and it's a lot tougher. I have 2.8 Proline Trenchers on the truck now with a Volkswagen Beetle body on it but I just will run it on 3s. It has too much power and with the big tires it just wants to backflip like crazy on jumps...lol.

Check the latest vid...she's all fixed up and running reliable on 6s now. 2 battery packs and no breakages so far...lol.

Fried the motor....gearing too tall I think? Should have let it cool. Also the rear ring and bevel gear were slightly binding. I put a shim in between the bearing and the diff housing to bring the ring gear out a bit and the rear end feels a lot smoother.

Yes definitely too much power. I actually had a 34 tooth spur and after this switched to 38. With a 22 tooth pinion. I found out what the gear grinding was. The ring gear in the back end was meshing too tight to the bevel gear in the diff housing. I dont know why its so tight(maybe I over tightened the bolts holding the diff housing together and deformed slightly where the bearing fits) but theres no factory way to adjust gear mesh/lash. So I cut a very thin strip of paper/cardboard and used it as a bearing shim. This solved the tight gear mesh.

6s is too much for this platform offroad. For speed runs I used stock axles at 93mph. Offroad its too much abuse on everything. But shes back together with an new motor so I will give it another go on 6s but I will probably dial the punch back down to 1 from 10 on the esc and see if its more drivable.

Kaizer Test just bought my 1st slash last week. 4wd brushless but will be upgrading the esc and motor shortly for 3 and 4s

@@MrMattroch The brushless VXL are 3s ready. At least mine was. Stock out of the box its pretty fast and I clocked it at 49mph on 3s. They are great cars. One thing I had to do is adjust the gear mesh in the rear end with a shim. My other slash I didnt have to. Also I fried my motor on this outing. I have a few spare motors...I should have let it cool a bit and check my temps. So I changed my gears to 38 spur and kept the 22 tooth Mod1 pinion and changed the punch on my esc to 2 from 10. New tires on it and it seems reliable now. It still wheelies at speed though...And I went through a battery with no breakages...lol. I will get some footage and post a new vid.

Kaizer Test it is the vlx one but it keeps cutting out with low voltage so letting hobby shop replace the esc and then I’ll take it out and upgrade to some more powerful and 4s
