really though??? Nothing he said is biblical. The bible tells us specifically to judge false prophets by their *_fruits_* and *_not_* root. Only God can see the true root, because anyone can lie to you about their faith - but actions don't lie!!

Being a Christian, believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is enough for salvation. Nothing is added to Him and nothing is removed from Him. This is a great line my pastor told me, "God doesn't expect us to be sinless as born again believers, just we sin less as we get older and more mature in the Lord." It is not of our works lest we should boast.

J Dude also Mathew 7:23 “I never knew you” contrast that verse with Nahum 1: 7The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he Knoweth them that TRUST in him. Notice it says Never knew not used to know but not anymore. So anyone that trusted Christ even for a short time would be not be the NEVER KNEW you. This will drive a lordshippers insane because it again proves God does it all nothing of ourselves saves us except believe

And John 6:29 Jesus answered, and said unto them, this is the work of God, that ye believe on the one He has sent. Salvation is free, discipleship is for rewards in heaven. They are completely separate. If we could do one thing that would save us, then Jesus died in vain.

Dont forget that obedience does show your belief. We dont work because we think it will get us to heaven, no, we work because we love the Lord and he commands us to stay away from sin and to love everyone including our enemies. And no love doesnt mean accept every wrong thing someone does without saying anything, love is also rebuking what is evil in someones life to help them come out of sin. Love is continuously reminding each other about the gospel message and loving our Lord back with all our mind, heart and soul. God looks at the hearts and minds of men, dont forget it. If you feel for a second, you have a doubt in the Lord to save you from all your sin in this life, then you lack the faith in Him to do so, therefore it will not happen, but if you let the Lord know you need help in various areas in your life with sin, He will definitely help you in those areas. So keep loving the Lord back, people, a true faith produces good fruit.

@pmcarthur

There are 3 kinds of fruit, I think. Fruit of the spirit is one. But, you don't produce that, the spirit does. Then there's a corrupt tree. They can only produce evil fruit, ie unbelievers. Then there's the good tree that produces good fruit, ie believers. You shall know them by their fruit... I would say is the people who got saved from them giving them the gospel. In other words, Joel Osteen is corrupt and can only produce evil fruit. That's actually most preachers today. They are corrupt and preach a false gospel and consequently they can only produce evil fruit... which in turn can only produce more evil fruit and so on and so on and so on. A corrupt tree cannot give somebody their false gospel and save then, they are even unable to get lucky and give anybody the true gospel and save them because they are corrupt. And, because of that they can only and always only, produce evil fruit.

This is a very truthful video. Anyone who thinks they are living good enough to be showing enough fruit to be truly saved is lowering God's standard. The fruit spoken of in Matthew 7 is not a person's works, but their teachings.

Most are trusting in what they do to save them selves, and believe Jesus died in vain. True believers trust in what Jesus did to save us by grace as a free GIFT from God that no man can earn. They have not done the will of his Father. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day. Jesus can not lie. John 5:24 John 6:37-39 John 6:47 John 3:16, and the list of promises goes on and on. If you can not trust Jesus, who can you trust. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, and we all die, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. If I give you a new care, but say you have to make the payments, then it is no longer free, and you have something to boast in because you made the payments. Salvation is a free gift because Jesus already made the payments. Our sin debt is paid in full. We can never be condemned again. John 3:18. You guys are doing great short and sweet videos that give the gospel of salvation by grace that we have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for it. I try to keep my comments short, but when talking about what my savior did for me it is hard to quit writing. Keep up the good work. See you both in heaven.

I have a question I've been searching hard for and I need some help. I believe in Christ but at times I doubt, and I doubt why he had to die. But I have had huuuge experiences with God and the Holy Spirit working in my life, I have trusted God fully, but I keep falling to addiction to nicotine. I can't tell if this is me not having faith in Christ but when I fall I stay addicted and stop praying, stop reading, and I feel ashamed of this. I know Christ is waiting for me to face the music and come back to him but I don't want to bc of my fear and self ambition. Am I saved???

+Coby Valenzuela Having doubts is not an indication of being unsaved. We all have doubts from time to time because we are still human in this earthly walk. A classic example of a person who DOUBTED about Jesus, but is SAVED is John the Baptist. In John 1:29, JB enthusiastically proclaims that Jesus is the SAVIOR of the world, but then in Matthew 11:3 and Luke 7:19 JB expresses DOUBT regarding whether or not Jesus is the Savior of the world. John 1:29 - The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Matthew 11:3 - And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Luke 7:19 - And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? Scripture says that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit even when he was still in his mother's womb - Luke 1:15.

1John clearly shows that we must believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God but also thAt we don’t live in sin and we follow rightoeusness and love one another. That s how we know we are born of God. We will be judged by what we do by faith, not a written test of what we mentally agree with. If one truly believes Jesus is Lord, HE WILL OBEY HIM AS WELL. Nobody can be a Christian without their life changing. If one never turns from sin. They aren’t His. Only those who are DOING the will of the Father will enter the kingdom. God bless u

@@garyleemusic of course not. I believe the scripture is talking about DIRECTION not perfection. We are a slave and our MASTER is whom we obey , whether slaves of sin which leads to death or slaves of righteousness which leads to eternal life. We cannot serve two masters. We need to be sure that Jesus is our Master and not sin. That's why repentance is ,which sadly seems to have been removed from most gospel preaching , a turning of OUR WILL , which is inclined to sin , TO the WILL OF GOD found in Jesus. We need to DIE to live. Many just think they can add Jesus to their life of sin as some sort of covering which really only them becomes a license to sin and is why they never seem to overcome sin because they lack the power of God in REBIRTH . MANY ACCEPT JESUS BUT DID HE ACCEPT THEM? I believe lack of repentance is the reason we have so many that lack the power and grace of God .

This discussion is confusing things. Yes Christ’s blood gives us the power of Grace to have faith. However faith needs to be actualized in one’s heart to be “true believing faith.” A person who has “actualized faith” ....a heart changed into flesh...will joyfully and willingly have Christ shine through them by the loving actions they take. It isn’t the “professing” that saves you, but rather the authentic transformative work of Christ in your heart. You know the Christian’s that actualized this in their lives and it shows. They would also answer that it is their love of Christ that makes their loving actions easy. That is different than a person who reluctantly “sacrifices” their other “loves” (worldly idols) to prove their faith by their “groaning works.” It is what is happening in your heart that matters....the only work you need to do is allow God’s grace to transform it!

@jan-peterschuring88 2 года назад
@@razzendahcuben I agree. Three years ago I was still wrestling with the apprehension of the gift of Grace. In fact I’ll do you one better I now view even the “performance” of acceptance as problematic. If the arch of Christ spans from the foundations of the world to the Eschaton then I hardly think any willful act is relevant in that much grander picture. All separation from God is a temporal construct of our blindness to Him and the finished project is complete. Everyone will freely choose. All will freely choose as all thirsty ultimately freely choose water instead of sand to quench their thirst. God's creation is good, therefore satisfaction is met in the Supreme Good, every form of refusal comes from ignorance or enslavement. The soul might suffer the consequences of trying to get satisfaction in any form of rebellion against God, but any rebellion ultimately doesn't satisfy. God's patience and the goodness of creation (we desire good and good exists) wins everybody without coercion. Thank goodness that the Good News is indeed good.

What about Jesus' instruction: "by their works, ye shall know them"? I'm not saying "one's works saves" only that IF one believes they are at least going to TRY to do good works. So, is it so wrong to look at a believer's behavior in attempting to discover what's in their heart?

You are not wrong. The first part of that verses says beware of wolves in sheeps clothing, so yes you will know them by their fruit but this is speaking of you knowing them. See, Jesus said people will know US by the love we have for one another, but we know we are saved by our Faith in Him, others can not see our Faith in Him tho without Love. We are not saved by our works but we know people by them, so in time we will see the hate they have for people and know them. That being said if they straight up deny its by JESUS we are saved and add works we already KNOW they are wolves. This verse would be speaking of a person like Steven Anderson who says he believes in Jesus, but there is no love in his words or deeds, he is not saved by that love, but its proof that something is wrong on the inside of him. Some might be a work in progress, but all will be made clear in time.

It's not wrong, but we must be careful and use discernment. You are not wrong, though. Anyone could clearly observe Paul whenever he was Saul, look at his new life after salvation and listen to his words, etc and clearly see that he was a new creation. And it derived from what he believed: from an unbeliever to a believer, but that change in beliefs brought about by the full work of Christ in him produced a "new man" that became evident in his life/works. It starts with belief, of course, but, the life that has been changed by Jesus Christ will begin to fall in line with the Word. Paul wasn't the same Paul. Peter wasn't the same Peter. Zaccheus... Even the little we see about Nicodemus.. he wasn't the same Nicodemus by the end of the chapter. Whereas, for example, Cain. He "went out from the presence of God." He didn't repent; he didn't care. He lied to God's face about murdering his brother, whined bc God's punishment was "too severe", then God was gracious to him, but Cain just went out from His presence. Judas. His worldly sorrow was just that: worldly and wrapped up in self. He didn't seek the Savior for forgiveness, for redemption. He didn't seek God's mercy. He rejected Christ. He didn't believe, and it showed in his life. So, it's a two-sided coin the way that Scripture presents it. Every time. Paul directly says that actually, lol, and it's evident. True saving faith will produce a life that lives out that faith and belief. This guy sounded good, but I think he is missing that aspect. His qualm is lopsided a tad. And a little pointless. It still comes down to the same thing. Given time, ones life will demonstrate what they believe. And a lot of times, it doesn't take too much time to see it.

If we accept the premise that anything that we do, creates some sort of result or fruit to use a bit of an unclear term.... So, what would the fruit be of someone trusting Christ as Savior? The fruit of trust is a confidence.... Thus the fruit of trusting Christ as Savior would be knowing that one has eternal life, because of what Jesus did on the cross for them.... He is their Savior.... Not their own good deeds.

Titus 2:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. Titus 3:14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 1 Peter 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and SLEW HIS BROTHER. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own WORKS were evil, and his brother's RIGHTEOUS. Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

+Mellomoon Haze you're confused about salvation, you can post a million verses but by not understanding scripture and context is not there, you find every verse with the word work? ROFL, christ work is the work that saves and fruit isn't lawkeeping, "you iwll know them by their fruit" fruit in the bible is often what a person speaks, and proclaims, its called the fruit of the lips or the fruit of the mouth, the bible says a bad tree CANNOT bear good fruit, and a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, so anything that both groups can do gets RULED out, lots of people are into lawkeeping, jews, muslims, lots of religous people try to keep the law, you're not keeping it either by the way so fruit isn't lawkeeping, sounds like you just like making nonsense up, the word fruit is what a person speaks, its doctrine. the good fruit is christ its the gospel, and bearing fruit is growing in the knowledge of christ, its being able to see christ in the entire word of God from front to back, every book/chapter and verse is about christ

Mellomoon Haze "by their mouth they profess me" etc....yeah like you're doing, but you deny grace, your works cannot save you and you're not trusting in christ work, so your works are dead and so is your faith, you miss the entire context of james, james is indicting pharisees, and "the works" are proclaiming the gospel, believing the gospel and proclaiming it are the works, thats how you show people your works, you think its what? lawkeeping? you're not keeping the law, the la1w is not of faith, don't you read the entire bible? james says if you keep the entire law yet offend in one point you've broken it all, he is adressing lawpreachers like you, since you're not about the preaching of the cross for salvation for those who believe thats your fruit, its dead, the fruit of your mouth reveals you're not part of christ, james never says its mans works, the bible never uplifts mans works, you're not harmonizing scripture, being able to rightly divide and just quoting bible verses are two different things, you have to ignore most bible verses, i don't...you can't fit what you believe in with the entire bible, you're not keeping the law, and you making strife on youtube is just another sin on the long list of sins you're doing, you like most people are using the book of james to "refute and correct" the rest of the bible, ROFL, thats not sound doctrine, you can't harmonize it with the rest of the bible, God isn't schizophrenic, you are but he isn't...NOT BY WORKS YOU HAVE DONE, to him that works it doesn't count as grace but debt, you're confused about what works a person needs, you think its mans works...its not mans works, you're an enemy of the cross, its christ work a person needs, thats a living faith, relying on your own works is a dead faith, you are showing me your dead faith, you are testifying of yourself, anyone who says "its our works too" thats you testifying of yourself, and the holy spirit in qa person will NEVER EVER, testify of man, the holy spirit testifies of christ and his finished work on the cross, jesus said he finished the work, christ has already done the believers works, 2000 years ago. its finished, all thats left if for a person to BELIEVE he did the work for em, you're not relying on him for salvation you're portraying christ as a "helper or copilot", thats not what he is...you're not a saved person.

Matthew 7:15-20 is talking about the fruit of false teachers. What the preach. They preach you can save yourself by works instead of all grace, Romans 11:6 They preach another gospel. The Gospel. First Corinthian 15:1-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. If you believe He did it for you personally, you are saved and are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30. Galatians 1:7-9 Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel than that which we have preached unto you, let them be accursed. As we said before, so say I again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. There is only one gospel that saves sinners which we all are. First John 1:8. If there was any other way to be saved than by Jesus blood sacrifice for all our sin, then Jesus died for no reason. There is no other way than through Jesus alone. He paid the price we could not pay. We did nothing for it. Jesus paid it all, not just part and we have to do the rest. We would have something to boast in. True believers have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for the free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9 Romans 6:23.

People saying that you can only be certain of salvation by the fruits produced of your faith don’t seem to realize they are literally looking for assurance through works. They say “salvation is by faith alone but your faith isn’t real if you’re not producing works.” Doesn’t that completely undermine the security in the simplicity of believing in what Jesus did and not what we do?

So to say its not about behavior thats false. God changes the heart and nature to obey God and his commandments. EZEKIEL 36:26. Born again means born from above. A spiritual birth. John 3:3-6. Salvation is a total work by the HOLY SPIRIT. Jesus said IT IS FINISHED. Amen....A person will live different according to CHRIST and his teachings. A person will REPENT and be converted. Acts 3:19. Jesus said, by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith, apart from the deeds of the law. If there was a law given that could save us then Jesus died in vain. Now, if we can not be saved by keeping the law, and we can not be saved by doing good works, how do you suppose you are going to be saved? Neither one of those things can save a sinner which we all are to a degree because no one is perfect. But we have to be perfect to go to heaven. So how are you going to be saved? Anyone?
@jimkraft9445
@jimkraft9445 6 лет назад
Since no one has ever been good enough to go to heaven, by what they do and how they live, how are you going to be saved? No one has ever been saved by their own merit. There is none good but God. That makes us all bad. We have to be as righteous as God to go to heaven. Are you that good? Are you so good that God will let you in to heaven on your good works and keeping the law? God rests His case. No one is good enough to go to heaven on how they live or what they do. If that was the case, we would be saved by how we live and what we do, and Jesus died for no reason. So the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that do not believe.

Cheap grace means grace as a doctrine, a principle, a system. It means forgiveness of sins proclaimed as a general truth, the love of God taught as the Christian “conception” of God. An intellectual assent to that idea is held to be of itself sufficient to secure remission of sins. The Church which holds the correct doctrine of grace has, it is supposed, ipso facto a part in that grace. In such a Church the world finds a cheap covering for its sins; no contrition is required, still less any real desire to be delivered from sin. Cheap grace therefore amounts to a denial of the living Word of God, in fact, a denial of the Incarnation of the Word of God. (Dietrich Bonhoeffer).

Absolutely your fruit doesn't earn you salvation, but to say that it doesn't matter if their is no fruit or works in the believers life is grossly misleading. Faith without works is dead. Not because they earn you salvation, but because saving faith always leads to fruit. Jesus says "abide in me and you WILL bear fruit." If you're not bearing any fruit of the spirit in your life. He is talking about those who refused because of pride or simply because they wanted to continue living in sin claiming its somehow works to repent of their sins as scripture says.

Belief (faith/trust) has nothing to do with what you do. Think about it: we never associate belief with actions for anything else: “I believe God exists” “I believe I have 10 fingers” “I believe the Bible is God’s word” “I believe the earth is round” “I believe sun will rise tomorrow” None of those propositions have anything to do with how one behaves. But all of a sudden when we say “I believe am eternally secure because Jesus promises to give eternal life to all who believe in Him,” it magically and inexplicably requires “works”. It doesn’t! It’s a free gift. Free to all who simply believe in Him apart from any behavior on our part. Belief is being persuaded something is true. That’s it. After we are born again, then, YES! We should live, follow, obey, pickup our cross, and be disciples of Christ! And if we don’t there will be consequences in our life, maybe even premature death.

Saving faith will produce works as long as you're living. If works (which He says in His word that He preordained for His children to walk in) weren't a product of true saving faith, then Abraham wouldn't have offered Isaac, Rahab wouldn't have received the messengers, Noah wouldn't have built the boat, Paul's life wouldn't have looked incredibly 180... he hated Him one minute, and the next minute, he called Him Lord and served Him and proclaimed His truth unto death. If it is faith and then "thats it. Works or lack-therof are no indication", then Jesus wouldn't have bothered telling the adulteress, "...now go, and sin no more." Noone had to twist Zaccheus' arm to get him to willingly and joyfully repay with interest those whom he had stolen from, and to also give away half of his goods to the poor. The works are the PRODUCT. Our garbage, selfish attempts at doing "good" do not save us nor do they cleanse our sin and make us righteous before God. Christ alone does that, and then that saving faith, when it's true, will begin to show forth in the life. The thief on the cross, had he not died that day, would have been no different. He doesn't save and transform a life and that life remain as it was; you're forever changed.

Listening, I was thinking "wow ... wow!" until the verse came to mind of how even the devil believes [all the right things about God]. I mean, Satan's got perfect theology, but that obviously does not save. Judas believed, but his works damned him. Then I thought how the Bible says faith without [good] works is DEAD. Stinking, rotting and dry bones kind of dead. Jesus said he longs for a people who are eager for good works. One John states over and over that if we're in Him, we'll obey Him, and if we don't obey him [works], we're LIARS and the truth is not in us. Works don't save us -- our righteousness is as filthy rags -- but works are the visible fruit of the invisible saving faith (and Spirit) that's already been sealed onto a believer. Yeah?

James 2:17) Even so faith , if it hath not works is dead, being alone.
@wtom04
@wtom04 6 лет назад
+Darrel Hicks "Faith without works is dead" does not mean that the person is unsaved, but that the person is saved, but LAZY. The whole book of James was written to people who were already saved as James continuously addresses his readers as "my brethren" in the KJV and as "my brothers and sisters" in just about every chapter. James 2:14-26 has been notoriously used by Calvinists/Lordship Salvationists as a "proof" text in an attempt to "prove" that "faith without works" means a person is not saved. The one verse that throws many Christians off is James 2:14 which reads in the KJV, " What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?" The question we need to ask is this, "can faith save him from WHAT?" James is not talking about being saved from hell as the whole book of James was written to people who were already saved. All throughout the book of James, James addresses his readers as "my brethren" indicating that these are saved people possessing eternal life. James is asking if a Christian's faith that is not put into action save him from the loss of eternal rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ - 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 Corinthians 3:10-15. He is also asking if a Christian's inactive faith will save him from appearing cold and insensitive in the eyes of those in need. James 2:14 entails these implications. Lordship Salvationists and any works-gospel salvationists will of course use James 2:14 taken out of context and twisted to mean that if a Christian has no evidence of "works", then the person is not saved. This is a blatant lie because the Bible clearly teaches that salvation is a FREE GIFT from God instantly given to those who BELIEVE in Jesus finished work on the cross, and the free gift of salvation is not of works - Ephesians 2:8-9. In the KJV, the first part of James 2:14 is asking about profit. He is asking what profit is there if a Christian does not put his/her faith into ACTION? James 2:15-16 explains how a Christian's faith that is not put into action will not profit a needy brother or sister. Verse 16 asks how it will profit. A Christian who is saved and whose faith is not put into action will not profit the Christian himself and will not profit others in need. James is exhorting saved Christians to put their faith into ACTION to prevent spiritual atrophy/stagnancy. A faith that is put into action pleases God and also earn the Christian eternal rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ - 2 Corinthians 5:10 - "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." James is not saying that "faith without works" means that the person is unsaved. 1 John 3:17-18 is parallel to James 2:15-16 by saying, " If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." James is also teaching that there are 2 types of justification: 1) Justification before GOD which is eternal salvation is by FAITH ALONE IN CHRIST ALONE APART FROM WORKS - Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:20, 3:28, 4:3-5, 9:32, 11:6, Galatians 2:16, 2:21, Galatians Ch.3, Titus 3:5. 2) Justification before PEOPLE is by our WORKS. People cannot visually see our faith and they can only see our faith when we exercise our faith by putting it into action, not to be saved, but because we ARE SAVED - Ephesians 2:10. In Ephesians 2:10 in the KJV, it says that we "should walk" in good works, not "must walk" or "will walk". We are to do good works if we want to be a good witness for Christ and good works will help prevent spiritual atrophy/stagnancy and will help us to grow and progress forward in discipleship/sanctification - Matthew 5:15-16, Luke 8:16, 11:33, 2 Corinthians 8:21, 1 John 3:17-18. When Abraham BELIEVED God in Genesis 15:6, he was justified and eternally saved at that moment in time, then much later in Genesis 22, Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac justified him before PEOPLE, that is, the whole nation of Israel. Abraham put his faith into ACTION. Rahab the prostitute's faith in God justified and saved her eternally in Joshua 2, and her hiding the 2 spies and sending them off in a different direction justified her before her whole family when they were spared from physical death - Joshua 6:25, Hebrews 11:31. Rahab put her faith into ACTION. James 2:14-26 is an exhortation for all saved Christians to put their faith into ACTION to prevent spiritual atrophy/stagnancy and to be a good witness for Christ. Doing good works will justify us before PEOPLE so that people can see God's love manifest in our lives. Doing good works will help edify us spiritually and to help us progress forward in discipleship/sanctification. God does not want us to be "missing in action". There are many Christians who are saved, but are very LAZY.

+Darrel Hicks A person can have a complete weight set as a gift from someone, but how will that weight set PROFIT the person if he never works out? The weight set is in his possession, but he won't lose it if he never works out. The same principle applies to James 2:14-26. James 2:14 is talking about PROFIT.

Bob is absolutely right. The reason there are so few saved is because they will not believe the gospel. They just can not receive it as a free gift. It is always Jesus plus something else. Jesus plus our commitment, or Jesus plus baptism, or Jesus plus us living a Holy Life. or Jesus plus inviting Jesus into our hearts, or Jesus plus keeping the law, or Jesus plus us giving our heart to Him. All of those things are good things to do, but have noting to do with salvation which is a free gift of God to believe in Him alone by faith alone. Jesus is the narrow way because there is no other way. Many are trusting in what they do to save themselves. Their works. Oh, they go to church, they read their bibles which they do not understand because they do not have the Holy Spirit in them to discern scriptures. First Corinthians 2:14 You have to do absolutely nothing to be saved but believe the gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4 Romans 11:6 If we add one work to that gospel we are trusting in something else and not what Jesus did for us on the cross and we have something to boast in. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the GOSPEL of your salvation, in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise. 14 Unto the praise of His glory, (not our glory). Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit in whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Notice, we were not regenerated by the Holy Spirit until we believed. Not before like the TULIP's believe. Romans 8-9 Without the Spirit there is no salvation. With the Spirit we are saved forever. Second Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, the foundation of God is sure, having this SEAL, (the Holy Spirit) the Lord knoweth them that are HIs. Jesus plus nothing = salvation by grace. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, (and we all sin) but the GIFT of God is eternal life. If we just accept the free gift, which means we can do nothing for it, we will be saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, (how) through faith, and that not of yourselves, (we did nothing for it) it is the GIFT of God, not of works, (what we do or do not do) lest any man should boast. Those that believe you can lose your salvation are depending on what they do to save themselves. They are their own savior. Only no one can save themselves. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may, (what) KNOW THAT YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. Keep up the good works GEC. Maybe someone will get it and be saved. As for me I will see you in heaven because I have no sins to pay for, Jesus has already paid for all of mine. I can no longer be condemned. John 3:18 And I did absolutely nothing for it. Jesus paid it all and I paid 0. IT is free.

The words "by faith" are misleading. The Greeks often says, "ek pistis," where the "ek" means "out of" or "out from." “Ek” is the opposite of the word “eis” which means “into.” In other words, righteousness, and hence justification (setting right that which was wrong), comes out from, or out of faith, as a product of faith. This means that genuine faith produces righteousness because it is a functional faith. This faith is not a neutral intellectual belief, it is operational, active, and productive, causing a change from unrighteous living to righteous living. By this a person is justified - set right from a previous state of living wrong. It is amazing to hear some Bible teachers say things like, “Theology affects the way we live” and “You mostly live according to the theology you believe”, and yet these same teachers speak of “salvation by faith” as if faith as something that happens external to you and has no required byproduct of righteous living. "By faith" is often understood as nearly a passive idea, where we are made to have faith and God does something called "justification," a legal arrangement or accounting act on His end. That is not what is intended by "ek pistis." Teachers of Reformed Theology and Penal Substitutionary Atonement have a problem with active, functional faith because they typically see this as works. To avoid this, the weaker translation is used, changing “out from faith” to “by faith.” "Ek pistis" or "ek pisteo" is in Romans 1:17, 3:30, 4:16, 5:1, 9:30,32, 10:6, Gal. 2:16,3:7,11, Heb. 10:38, James 2:24. These all show that faith is presumed to be active - affecting the mind, will, emotions, and actions of the believer. There are passages that do say “by faith,” which is “dia pisteo,” but “dia” means "through,” so faith in these cases is still an active mechanism, not a passive idea. Peter states it well in Acts 15:9, “…having cleansed their hearts by faith.” In this case the “by faith” is “te pistei”, which is simply “the faith,” making the phrase say that faith is the active thing that cleansed their hearts. Faith is not some external property like a salve or clothing that has no internal effect on the person. The single exception is found in the example of James 2:17-20 where demons have inactive faith, a dead faith that produces nothing.

How does a person know they have believed?
@garyleemusic
@garyleemusic 3 года назад
The same way you believe anything. Belief is simply being persuaded something is true. Or having the conviction that something is true. To believe In Jesus for the promise of everlasting life is to believe (to be persuaded) that Jesus is the Christ (the one who guarantees eternal life to all who believe in Him). If you believe that promise you also believe it’s true for you, meaning you have assurance that you are eternally secure in Christ.

@@garyleemusic I see. When I was a kid, I was persuaded I was Batman. And i was persuaded i could fly (even though Batman doesn’t fly, as I learned later on). Of course that didn’t make it true. @@guidolizzi1033 I'm sure you'd agree we can be believe things that are true, and other things that are false. When you believed you were batman, you believed something false. But God cannot lie. What he promises is true. Therefore when Jesus says (John 11): to Martha: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" Martha replies: "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world." Martha believed what Jesus said. And if she believed it she KNEW that she had what He promised - that even though she would never die. And Jesus doesn't rebuke her or require anything else of her. John in his Gospel tells us why he wrote the book in John 20:30... "And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus in the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name"

@@garyleemusic And how do you come ro the conclusion that the gospel of John is the only book written to unbelievers? Or “Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because his seed remains in him; he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.”? I don’t think I understand now. You mean as long as I am persuaded of Jesus as the giver of eternal life, I’m saved even I still live sinfully? Cuz I don’t really feel like leaving sin behind, know what I mean? Should I just take the stuff Jesus said to Martha, and ignore the rest that John wrote? That stuff scares me.

Hi Guido, I felt very similarly as I think you do. Once I finally realized that discipleship and salvation from hell are different, the Bible made so much more sense. The Bible over and over states that the only condition of eternal life is belief in Jesus (or synonym phrases such as "faith" and "trust"). Discipleship/fellowship with God on the other is very much dependent on our actions. But just as the father in the prodigal son doesn't kick his son out of the family, neither does God. Once we are born again we are eternally secure. I don't have time (nor the knowledge) to address every scripture you mentioned but I'll leave you with a few thoughts: -Paul anticipates your objection in Romans when he says, shall we sin more so that grace may abound? And he replies, certainly not! The question is about should we or should we not continue in sin as believers. We must be able to sin as believers since the book is written to believers, and if we couldn't sin, why even bring it up? -research the audiences and type of literature each book of the bible is. In the epistles notice they're written to the "church", "saints", "brethren", etc... usually in the 1st few verses of those books. John is the only one explicitly evangelistic in nature. Other books are historical narrative poetry, law, etc... Gospel of John: -Audience: unbelieving jews. John explicitly tells the reader that he's writing to convince them that Jesus is the Messiah -number of references to repentance from sin: 0 -over and over states the condition to have eternal life is believing in Jesus (John 3:16; 5:24; 6:35, 47; 11:26) 1st, 2nd, 3rd John, Revelation Audience: are all written to believers in Christ. 1st John explains in the very first paragraph that he's writing about fellowship. -references to repentance of sin in Revelation: 12 This article does a great job of addressing the books written by John and the issue of repentance: faithalone.org/blog/to-repent-or-not-to-repent-johns-doctrine-of-repentance/ If you want to continue the conversation feel free to email me at garylee22@gmail.com God bless!

Amen brother. No one ever earned eternal life. For the wages of sin is death. One sin and you go to hell for ever to pay for that one sin. The Good part. But the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. The GIFT of God is eternal life. Because no one can earn it. If it is not a free gift, the it is not eternal life. Christ died for our sins. First Corinthians 15:1-4. Since Christ died and paid our sin debt in full, we can no longer be condemned. John 3:18. Once we believe it, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13-14 and Ephesians 4:30. God does not want us living in sin, but He paid the price for all sin so that anyone who would believe He did it for them would be saved. Should we use grace for a license to sin? No, but we all do because we are not made perfect in the flesh but only in the Spirit. Love you guys because you preach the truth.

Philippians 2:12) Wherefore ,my beloved , as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only , but now much more in my absence , work out your own salvation with fear with and trembling" My comment - In the context of Matthew 10 Christians who endure to the end will be saved from being martyred, that is, physical death. Jesus talked about Tribulational age Christians in Matthew 24:1-13, that those Christians who endure to the end will be saved from being martyred. 2 Corinthians 5:10 is not talking about enduring Christians being rewarded with eternal salvation for their performance, BUT it is talking about enduring Christians who will be granted ETERNAL REWARDS for their service in this life. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 talks about the Judgment Seat of Christ in more detail. Saved Christians can lose rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ, BUT NOT eternal life which is a free gift that is not of works - Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:20, Romans 3:28, Romans 4:2-6. All saved Christians works in this life will be evaluated and assessed at the Judgment Seat of Christ to determine the gain or loss of ETERNAL REWARDS, not eternal life which is free. The Judgment Seat of Christ is reserved for SAVED PEOPLE ONLY. It is separate from the Great White Throne Judgment reserved exclusively for the UNSAVED ONLY - Revelation 20:11-15. Faithful Christians in this life that lived obediently, and faithfully and did things that have eternal value will be granted with eternal rewards, and for some, the earned privilege of reigning with Christ in the Millennium is granted - 2 Timothy 2:12, Revelation 3:21, and Revelation 2:26. Unfaithful Christians in this life that lived disobediently, and carnally will have their works tested with the fire of Christ's scrutiny at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Their lives, that is, their works had no eternal value and will fail the test and be denied eternal rewards, BUT are still saved because eternal life is a free gift apart from works - Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:20, Romans 3:28, Romans 4:2-6, Romans 9:32, Romans 11:6, Galatians 2:16, Galatians 2:21, Gal ch. 3, Galatians 5:4, Titus 3:5. This is what 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 is talking about: 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder WILL SUFFER LOSS, but YET WILL BE SAVED-even though only as one escaping through the flames. The "gold", "silver", and "costly stones" represents faithful Christian's works in this life that had eternal value, but the "wood", "hay", and "straw" represents unfaithful Christian's works in this life that had no eternal value, but will burn up in the fire used to test it. The "gold, "silver", and "costly stones" symbolize a life of obedience, commitment, perseverance, faithfulness, endurance under trial, etc. but the "wood", "hay", and "straw" symbolizes a life of unfaithfulness, disobedience, carnality, etc. Again, the "burned up" in verse 15 is not referring to the flames of hell, but the "burned up" refers to the works of the carnal, unfaithful, and disobedient Christians in this life that had no eternal value that is burned up when tested with Christ's fiery scrutiny. Their eternal salvation remains intact and untouched, for eternal life is a free gift apart from works - Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23. In conclusion, UNFAITHFUL Christians in this life who lived disobediently and carnally will experience chastisement in this life from God - Proverbs 15:10, Hebrews 12:5-11, Jeremiah 2:19, and a forfeiture of ETERNAL REWARDS at the Judgment Seat of Christ, but loss of eternal life is NEVER one of the consequences - 1 Corinthians 3:15, 2 Timothy 2:13.

+Darrel Hicks The context of Philippians 2:12 is the apostle Paul exhorting the Philippians to not slack off in their faith in his absence. Paul wanted them to be fired up in their enthusiasm and spiritual fervor in their faith in his absence as well as in his presence. Paul was not saying to "work for" their salvation, but to "work out" the salvation that they already possessed. To "work for" their salvation is a false gospel of works, but the Bible says that salvation is a FREE GIFT that is not of works - Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23, Romans 3:20, Romans 3:28, Romans 4:2-6, Galatians 2:16, Galatians 2:21, Galatians 3:6, Genesis 15:6. Paul wanted them to stand strong in their faith not just in his presence, but also in his absence. That is the point of Philippians 2:12.

I agree that faith is what saves, and what we believe is what saves us. With that said, this idea that behavior doesn't matter is a dangerous one. If somebody does not treat his wife well, does not treat his co-workers well, commits adultery, etc. , this man in all likelihood is not saved. When we trust in Christ, there is a clear break with sin, if that didn't happen we are not saved, period. The marks of a christian are always going to be persecution and hatred from the world, Christ clearly said that we are going to be hated just like he was hated, so if somebody has never been fired from his job for doing the right thing, is loved by men, never calls sin for what it is, does not offend anybody by speaking the truth and instead manipulates people so that he would be liked, let me be very clear this man lacks saving faith, no ifs or buts. Christ clearly taught, you shall know them by their fruit, and James in his epistle spoke about showing our faith by our works, so if we have not suffered at the hands of the world for our faith or defending honesty and justice, then we have never been saved.

@@randyd9805 I am not disputing that we all sin, but there must be evidence of saving faith. James chapter 2 talks about Rahab protecting Joshua. This is a work that only a Christian can do. She was still a prostitute, leaving prostitution is something that unbelievers can accomplish as well as christians, it is moralism. But protecting somebody because you think they have the true God, as Rahab did, notice that she lied in order to save Joshua and his men when soldiers came to her house, she told them nobody was in their house (she broke the commandment not to bear false witness in order to protect godly men). This is evidence of saving faith. The other example that is given by James chapter 2 of works that are evidence of saving faith is Abraham offering his son Isaac as a sacrifice, this type of work only a believer can do. No unbeliever would sacrifice their son, actually an unbeliever would think that they can never serve a God that asks them to sacrifice a son. Hebrews 11 about faith in action gives multiple examples as well of different people showing their faith by their works. And if you see, it has nothing to do with moralism, practicing prostitutes while off work were eating with Jesus, so it is clear that quitting prostitution is not evidence of saving faith (as we saw with Rahab, God used a practicing prostitute to protect his men, a godly woman in spite of being a prostitute), neither is being productive at work, or being a role model in society (the pharisees were role models), or having good habits (the christians were eating without cleaning their hands unlike the pharisees) etc. Read Hebrews 11 and it will show you works that are evidence of saving faith, and none of the examples has anything to do with obedience to God's commands, specially the second table of the law. Samson went into a prostitute before dying,, David committed murder and adultery, yet both are mentioned in Hebrews 11 as heroes of the faith. So maybe I didn't spell it out clearly, when I said that the faith of a christian always produces good works, I never meant to say obedience to the commandments, because unbelievers and pharisees are in many cases more obedient to God's moral law than christians. Moralism is not christianity, God looks at the heart and the motivation, an unbeliever that is greedy for money and motivated for money or motivated by man's approval, can do a thousand fold the amount of good works a christian can do in the eyes of the world. But all this does not change the fact that fruit of the holy spirit or works pleasing to God always follow faith. Moralism, though, never does. Case in point is this corinthian christian that was sleeping with his mother in law, something that Paul said not even unbelievers did, and boasted about it, yet he was saved and the unbelievers were not.

@@randyd9805 I think once you have trusted in Christ's work for salvation, which only the holy spirit can create that trust, by revealing through God's word that Jesus has fully satisfied the Father and nothing remains for you to do, then it is impossible to forget about God because his imprint about what he has done for us will always be with us, regardless whether we attend church or not. However, people that are trying to please God by their own efforts, are unsure that it is all of Christ and still think they have to do their part, as they fail to achieve the desired transformation by their own efforts will eventually fall off the Church and they will most likely forget about Jesus. Were they ever saved ? Only God knows, some may, some may not, neither they nor us have any assurance that these people ever had saving faith, but some may have, specially if they still believe in Christ as the Son of God, no matter how weak their faith it is my view God will save this people. Now here's the thing about what you say on Christians being overcome or defeated by the flesh, I say this is impossible. Because as Roman 6 says at the beginning a Christian has died with Christ, he has died to sin, other scriptural passages clearly say that we have crucified the flesh with all its affections. Some people give Romans 7 as an example, but Paul clearly states in Romans 7:17 it is not I myself that do it but sin that dwells in me. Now we have to be very clear here, to not confuse outward works with the inward change in heart that God effects on all Christians at the time of salvation. 1 Samuel 16:7 clearly states that the Lord looks at the heart and not outward appearance. The most perfect example is a prostitute, there are godly saved prostitutes like Rahab and the prostitutes that were having meals with Christ or the prostitute that anointed Jesus with the best oil, and there are ungodly prostitutes. So you can never look at a prostitute and say she's going to heaven or hell, because the outward appearance, the profession the woman engages in tells me nothing about her heart which only God knows. So if you think a female prostitute is carnal, it depends, if she's a christian she is saved by God's mercy. Her profession tells me nothing whether she's saved or not, because God does not look at outward works. This is very important, Christ called the lawyers and pharisees whitewashed tombs in Matthew 23:25-28 because on the outside they were perfect, they did all the right works that men admired, helping the poor, having one wife, tithing to the church, raising a family, earning a living honestly, etc. While the prostitutes and tax collectors on the outside appeared completely immoral, but they were holy and godly people on the inside because they had the holy spirit. So when you are talking about carnality, I think that you misunderstand, what in the eyes of man is carnality in the eyes of God is not. The Christian that Paul identifies as carnal in the letter to the Corinthians that was sleeping with his mother, was still a christian, certainly carnal in God's eyes, but was a christian, now he was engaging in some practices that even the unbelievers were not, and was boasting, so he was properly excommunicated, specially because of the boasting, because when you boast of sin there is no repentance, but was invited back to the church later and came back and it appears he was a saved man. However many people that boast about sin are not saved and never come back to the church or think about Christ.

In many cases they left the church because the pastor was abusive or there was a split with the church, which is fine, except that these people now hate Jesus and are on their way to hell.

@@randyd9805 Randy, I agree 100 % with what you wrote as far as radical atheists that claim that at some point in their lives they walked an aisle and said a prayer accepting Jesus into their hearts, but now they realize that Jesus does not exist and are open atheists. Like you said most of these people were never saved in the first place, they were false conversions or false professions of faith. Now I also agree with you that we Christians are simultaneously just (justified) and sinners. This is why we approach God like the Tax Collector, and cry "God have mercy on me a sinner". This is also why we pray in the Lord's Prayer, "Forgive us our trespasses", this is a prayer for Christians yet we are instructed by Jesus to ask God to forsake our trespasses, so there is no doubt we sin. The letter of First John clearly teaches that if we claim we are without sin we make him a liar. Now with that said, I disagree that a Christian can live a defeated life or is defeated or fails, solely because he is in Christ. In Christ is the key, if we look at our actions or works or thoughts or deeds, of course we will always be defeated. However when we look at Christ we know that in Him (not in us) we are more than conquerors, there is no defeat in Christ. Romans 8:31-39 makes this abundantly clear, and in particular Romans 8:37-39 , where it is clearly stated that through Christ we are more than conquerors, there is no trace of defeat, a Christian is never defeated, because if he is defeated then Christ was defeated as well, but Christ was not defeated and neither is the Christian, ever.

@@randyd9805 I think you misunderstood me completely. Re-read my post where I said Christians sin and fail daily, if they look at their actions or works, we are all failures. But Christians are in Christ, so their victory is in Christ, and they can never be defeated, never. They can never fail, they always conquer. All believers live victoriously, because of Christ's victory, to say otherwise would deny Christ's victory at Calvary. You see, the problem with people that teach that some christians have a victorious life and others do not, is that they look at victory in the life of the believer (outside of Christ). There is only one victory (Christ's victory at Calvary), and one victor (Jesus Christ), we should never look at victory in our own lives but in Christ life only, and because through faith we have been grafted to Christ, his victory is our victory. You see this where I so disagree with this free grace movement, they somehow think that victory can be found outside of Christ, so then they say that Christians cannot be victorious always or are defeated or whatever. However, this is a very selfish point of view, instead of looking at Christ's victory over sin at Calvary, they want to look at the lives of believers to find victory. There is no victory and there never will be any victory in lives of believers, the victory is solely in Christ Jesus and his work, we must stop looking at ourselves, because if we look at ourselves then we defeat ourselves. We must look at Christ, and his victory, and be content with his victory. If I could stop sinning I would not need Christ, if I could be personally victorious I would not need Christ. Here are my comment on what you wrote: "You are pulling out certain passages that teach what every single believer has AVAILABLE to them in Christ, but you are wrong in that you assume that means every believer will have that as a REALITY in their practical daily life." You totally misinterpreted, I never said it is a reality in the practical life of the believer, it is only a reality in Christ's life. But this reality God imputes to the believer, so it becomes a reality in the believer's life by imputation, not by infusion of some sort of righteousness into the believer's life. "Jesus said He came not only that we might have life, but that we might have it more abundantly. That doesn't mean that all believers will live an abundant life which would be full of joy, regular answers to prayer, the filling of the Holy Spirit, and the obvious blessings of God on their lives." We can have an abundant life and be full of joy by knowing that Christ is perfect, even though we are sinful, our abundant life is solely based on what Christ's has done on the cross. The abundant life does not mean a huge bank account and a perfect medical exam from a doctor or a nice wife, no quite the opposite the most abundant lives are those plagued by suffering and martydom, and in the case of Peter the epitome of his abundant life was his death by crucifixion to glorify God, in the case of many martyrs the abundant life was being fed to to the lions by the Romans. Every Christian lives the abundant life, but you misunderstand what abundance life means.

Once you realize you have nothing to offer God in your flesh, you'll get it. In closing, ( I'll say this as gently as I possibly can) quit talking out both sides of your mouth. You can't say we must live righteously to be saved, then say we are imputed with Gods righteousness when we believe. Which one is it? Before you respond, go do a study on apostleship and discipleship, and then do a study on eternal salvation. Do a study on "kingdom of heaven" and "kingdom of God". See if those things are different. Start by seeing who Jesus is talking to in Matthew.

Romans 11:6. AMAZING GRACE, JESUS PAID IT ALL AND WE PAID 0. IT IS FREE, or not at all. Romans 3:26-28 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? By the law of faith. Therefore we conclude a man is justified by faith, apart from the deeds of the law. The law can not save a sinner. If we could be saved by anything we do or do not do, then Jesus died in vain. Ephesians 2:8-9 You can not boast in free. Love you guys who preach the truth. If we go off and live in sin, God does chasten his children, but He will never leave us or forsake us, Hebrews 13:5, He will never cast us out. John 6:37. It is His works that save us, and our works or lack of works for rewards in heaven. First Corinthians 3:11-21. But we are saved without works. Romans 4:5. Justified by faith alone in Christ alone plus nothing. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, BUT, ( I love that but) the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. You can not earn it.

Amen Brothers. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life. We receive the free gift by faith alone apart from any works which can not save us. We can only be saved by grace apart from works. Romans 4:5-8. The second we believe on Jesus alone for the free gift of eternal life we are born again, Ephesians 1:13-14 and Ephesians 4:30. We still reap what we sow, in this life and in heaven, but our salvation depends on what He did for us, not on what we do or do not do. The GIFT of God is eternal life. No sinner can redeem himself. We can only be redeemed by the blood of the lamb. We are all far from perfect in the flesh, and God requires absolute perfection which none of us can live up to. But He has given us His perfect righteousness and will no more impute sin to our account. No one can earn heaven. We can only receive the free gift of eternal life through Jesus finished work on the cross. Believers can no longer be condemned. But we can be chastened by the Lord, and earn rewards in heaven by how we live after we have received the free gift. Lots of people turn over a new leaf and do good works, but that saves no one. They may go to church and read their bible and pray and do good works, but never accept Jesus as the only way of salvation by grace. They are trying to earn their way to heaven by what they do instead of receiving the free gift by faith alone in Christ alone plus nothing. True believers have nothing to boast in. Romans 3:26-28. Ephesians 2:8-9. You can not boast in free. Jesus paid it all.

True Saving Faith comes by the operation of God. The Bible tells us man is dead in trespasses and sin and he must be made alive in Christ. Salvation is of the Lord. The devil trembles and believes.

The way that seems right to men is to make themselves righteous to be let into heaven on their own merit. But, all men are sinners to a degree, and no one ever saved themselves by works. Romans 11:6 It is all grace, what Jesus did for us plus nothing. It can only be received as free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, through FAITH, and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God, Not of works, lest any man should boast. You can not boast in a gift that you did nothing for. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, and we all die, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Faith is not the gift. The gift is eternal life when we receive the gift by faith. The bad fruit is what the wolves in sheep's clothing are preaching Matthew 7:15-20 They always add works to grace. We have to do nothing to be saved but believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Not Jesus plus anything, because what ever else a person is trusting in can not save them. It has to be Jesus alone plus nothing. Far to many have the cart before the horse and believe they are saved by works. Good works have there place, and we should walk in them, but good works never saved anyone. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believe on Him who justifieth the ungodly , his faith is counted for righteousness. Living right never saved anyone, but if you are saved you aught to live right to keep from the chastening of the Lord, and for rewards in heaven. To many mix salvation by grace with discipleship. They are completely two different things. That is how false doctrines like Lordship salvation come in and deceive many. They believe they are saved by becoming a disciple, instead of John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and BELEIVETH in Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day. Romans 8-9 Without the Spirit of God, there is no salvation. With the Spirit we have eternal life. Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30. John 1:12 and First John 5:13 Sorry for taking so much room. But I do not want anyone to be deceived and hear those awful words. Depart from me, I never knew you. Second Timothy, 2:19 He knows us because we have His Spirt in us. He knows his sheep.

Hey!!!! ....Why don't they pay attention to what JESUS said, instead of what the people were saying!?!?!?. Jesus said "depart from me you WORKERS OF INIQUITY." Those people claim to know God, but by their WORKS they deny him. Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Their good works did profit them nothing, because, ....... Ezekiel 33:13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit INIQUITY, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his INIQUITY that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

with respect, you said - Those people claim to know God, but by their WORKS they deny him ME - that is NOT correct. They were relying on their works to save them. How do we know? Lord, didnt i cast out demons in your name and done many wonderful works?". - its clear they did works for the Lord BUT they did not believe (trust) in the Lord. It is clear they were trusting in themselves (works) to get into heaven. The answer these false prophets (v15) should have given was "Lord, I believed you died and paid for all my sins". Instead what came out of their hearts was "works" and not faith. Romans 4:1-6 - What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward NOT reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that WORKETH NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness WITHOUT WORKS, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. with respect,

Preston Greene A house divided against itself cannot stand. Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also BELIEVE, and tremble. Devils do not have faith. They did BELIEVE, but lacked faith and the obedience that goes with faith that would produce spiritual fruit, which ARE "works"; Titus 2:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine [shewing] uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. Titus 3:14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. They knew that faith was made apparent by works (as descried in the new testament) So, as Jesus states that they were workers of iniquity, they tried to resort to their good works to be what tipped the scale, but as we know, the Lord says in Revelation 3:15-16 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Jesus knew that they had believed in their heads about who he is, but because their lack of obedience, they refuse to give up their sins, thus relying on their "good works" to make up for them yet living in sin. Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. "Go and sin no more" ~Jesus

There are "works" of iniquity, and there are "works" of righteousness. There are fruitless "works" and there are fruitful "works". Mellomoon Haze you said - They did BELIEVE ME - no they didnt. Believe means "to trust, to put confidence in". IF they believed/trusted Jesus they would have had everlasting life (John 6:47). In other words - they believed He is Lord and that He existed - they NEVER trusted Him - they were trusting in their works (themselves). You quoted - FRUIT as fruits of the spirit. FRUIT is not always fruit of the spirit. How do we know??? 1. false prophets are OUTWARDLY sheep - THUS showing "fruit" (matt 7) 2. satans ministers ARE transformed into ministers of righteousness THUS showing "fruit" (2 cor 11) 3. Even satan presents himself as an angel of light - THUS showing "fruit" (2 Cor 11) OUTSIDE - 1. Jehovah witnesses show "fruit" - not saved 2. Mormons show "fruit" but are not saved 3. Muslims show fruit but are not saved 4. HECK - do you know atheists who show some of these fruit? you know you do. How much fruit was the saved carnal church at Corinth showing with ALL their envying and stiving??? - very little. As with most of the religious "you probably would have said, they are not really saved"? BUT they were. Fruit is this passage is doctrine and the "words" of a false prophet. Luke 6:45 - 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his MOUTH SPEAKETH. - 2 ways to identify a false prophet. He prophecies something that does not happen. OR the words he speaks. Thus, you can tell by the false prophets WORDS in Matt 15 that he WAS a "false prophet".-----AGAIN - he never TRUSTED (believed) in Jesus. I KNOW the answer.....but..... to keep the conversation going and to not make this too long........Jesus said - go and sin no more". My question - or what will happen??? second question - have you sinned no more???? with respect,

I do not claim to be "sinless", but also, I do not practice sin, I am NOT a worker of iniquity. When I repented , I did not return to the sins of my ignorance, as the dog to his vomit. I do not lack obedience, as of the present time, and I pray daily that I do not fall into temptation and become disobedient. I abide daily in Christ, and die to myself daily as we need to in order to not be judged by the law as unrighteous. Righteousness is through Christ. Without Christ we are nothing but sinners, because in our flesh we lack the strength. Aside from the vine, we are nothing. Abide in the vine, and you will produce "spiritual fruit" and have the power to overcome temptation. If you are confused about the fruit in a believers life, you need to seek that for yourself. I am not a teacher, but I will contend for my faith. As for those in Matthew 7, they DID believe, or they would not have even trusted in Jesus' name to cast out demons. Their problem was that they were "workers of iniquity" as Jesus said. I addressed "fruit" in a separate post. ... There are "works" of iniquity, and there are "works" of righteousness. There are fruitless "works" and there are fruitful "works". No "works" earn salvation, but by "works" we will be identified by Christ and by those who are true believers. Matthew 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. If someone claims to be one of Christ's and yet practices sin, you know they are not one of his. John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: What it means to follow Christ....be like-minded, and walk as he walked, without sin. Doesn't mean we will never sin again, just means that if we are walking as he walked, we will not/ can not sin. But yet because we are weak at times, and Satan is always seeking who he may devour, we can stumble and sin. Which is why we are to abide in him and to put on the whole armour of God. To keep ourselves. 1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

These people in Matthew 7:21-23 Were boasting in what they did and not on what Jesus did for them. When we believe on Jesus alone plus nothing. He seals us with His Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30. He imputes His perfect righteousness to us, and will no more impute sin to our account. Romans 4:6-8 He takes all of our sin, and gives us His perfect righteousness without works. What a trade. And it is a free gift. You can not boast in free. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the children of God, EVEN TO THEM THAT BELEIVE ON HIS NAME; One of my favorite verses. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. You can not lose eternal life or it would not be eternal. But, It has to be Jesus alone by faith alone. Not Jesus plus our good works, or Jesus plus baptism, or Jesus plus anything because it can only be received as a free gift. Not by any thing we do or do not do. Our works. Romans 11:6 It is all grace, not works. If you add one work it is no longer grace, and that is to say Jesus died in vain. If there was any other way to be saved than through Jesus finished work on the cross, then Jesus died in vain and we could save ourselves. No, we all deserve to go to hell. Romans 3:23 All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, There is none righteous, no not one. One sin, and we have to go to hell forever to pay for that one sin. But Jesus came to pay the penalty for all sin to anyone who would believe He did it for them. First John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. First Timothy 2:4 Who would have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. First Corinthians 15:1-4 That Christ died for our sins. according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. When we believe that Jesus has paid our sin debt in full, and we can never be condemned again. John 3:18 He seals us with His Holy Spirit and that is how He knows us. Second Timothy 2:19. He can not say depart from me to one of His own. Second Timothy 2:13 He can not deny Himself. His Holy Spirit who lives in the believer that will never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5. I hope you have trusted in His finished work on the cross for salvation. If you do or if you have, I will see you in heaven.

Also Fruits and Works are not the samething. in Matthew 7 in the KJV they didn't say wonders. they said works. I think some of the new translations changed it to try and over it up maybe. just like the KJV says Confess the Lord Jesus. not say Jesus is Lord... yet again another change in the Scripture to promote works based salvation. that verse is Romans 10:9 I was speaking of btw. go check it and compare it to KJV and even the KJV from year 2000.

Those professing Christians in Matthew 7:21 certainly did believe in who Jesus was. They called Jesus Lord Lord, using Lord twice describes an endearing term or Love. Doing voluntary religious activity by itself isn't a reason that Jesus would keep someone out of heaven. Jesus says I never knew you, get away from me who practice lawlessness(evildoers). In real simple terms God never Baptized them (born again), that is why Jesus never knew them, He did not abide in their heart. These professing Christians thought all they had to do is intellectually believe who Jesus is and failed to understand how Holy God is and how wicked they truly are. You must repent, a humble acknowledgement of how wicked we are, we can't do it on our own. We fully submit control of our lives (true faith) and ask God justify me with your righteousness, sanctify me to become more like Christ by regenerating and writing your law into my heart. Jesus now abides in me and I am no longer a slave to sin but to righteousness. The evidence of your salvation is a transformed life. You hate sin and you practice holiness. Jesus says those who only do the will of my Father will go to heaven. What is His will, obedience. The Greek word for disobedience is also the word unbelief. So here is the warning and why the great majority of professing Christians are going to hell, you cannot have Jesus as an add on and retain your old nature. You have to voluntarily put to death the old man, the lust of the flesh, the lust of eyes and the pride of life. Paul says "I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I live but Christ lives in me." Jesus doesn't hold back He says it is hard to get into heaven, He uses the word agonizing. True faith in Christ is giving your life over completely. Most people won't and are being told they don't have to because God loves you so much, take the free gift. It is anything but free, you are not sovereign of your life anymore.

No sir, a thousand times no! False profession is about FRUIT, not belief. Jesus made this absolutely clear in Matt. 7:16 & 20 - "ye shall know them by their FRUIT," not by their belief. People may profess the 'right belief' and yet live contrary to what they profess, as Titus 1:6 makes clear - "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him". Matthew 7 is warning against *phonies* (or phoneys); and in verse 23 Jesus said: "I never knew you: depart from me, *ye that work iniquity* ", not 'ye that _believe wrongly!_ ' The whole issue here is about hypocrisy, not about believing wrongly - and hypocrisy is about the FRUIT of one's confession (compare Ezek. 33:31 - "they hear thy words, but they will not do them").

Steve Roop I am saying that having homosexual lust is a symptom of people who have degenerated too much to the point that they cannot trust in God for their salvation. So either you are an unsaved reprobate infiltrator or maybe you were brainwashed with the homosexual culture.

Steve Roop My original comment was to clarify the fact that living a sinful wicked lifestyle even after you are just saved does not mean that you can lose your salvation. I am not encouraging that people live a sinful lifestyle. If they did, they would be punished by God and also suffer the misery of their sins. As it's said "pleasure for a moment and pain for a lifetime". It has got nothing to do with your salvation. You get that???

There's a lot of other things that I do not do as well. I don't live a sinful life. Sin does not have dominion over me. He who the son sets free is free indeed.... Born again.
