Not sure why you felt the need to say “as a woman” but if you have zero self defense skills, you’ll probably have better luck hitting someone in the face with a bag with a water bottle in it or something than nothing, or poking someone in the eyes, pressure points etc. You’ll have better luck with “stupid” things than nothing at all. /srs

@@stawklove2990I mean yes, doing something is better than doing nothing. However, having false faith that these techniques will work to disarm in attacker puts you in a terrible position. Not only does this shit not work, you've pissed off someone who already wishes to hurt AND wasted time on petty tricks rather than just hitting the guy. Also, "as a woman" is relevant here mostly because of the nature of the attacks, it's more likely that a woman (or someone feminine presenting in general honestly) will be choked or abducted.

I'm surprised nobody mention that the "emergency life jacket" wouldn't work. as the shirt got wet and saturated, the cloth inside the lid of the bottle would begin to absorb water and deposit it in the bottles. Eventually, the bottles would have enough water in them to make it difficult to remain above water.

@@finnanmaxwell They tied the cap of the bottle through the shirt, so a bit of the shirt is inside the bottle. As the shirt gets wet and the moisture spreads to the cloth on the inside of the bottle, it will deposit inside.

@@johnt6773 Let's say you're on a boat lost at sea. Before you left, you packed a lot of bottles of soda because you really like soda. (Also, rope is a VERY common thing on boats, don't be stupid.) You are lost at sea because a bad storm messed up your boat and happened to take the container of life jackets overboard with it (yes they are usually bolted down but this is for a dire emergency you dolt) so you use the large empty soda bottles to make an improvised life jacket. If it seems stupid. but it works and keeps you alive, it can't be that stupid.

The sneeze trick actually works; I've used it for as long as I can remember. I personally call it "doing the Hitler". You have to use moderate force when pressing your finger into the area between your upper lip and your nose. It's kinda unsatisfactory that the sneeze never comes though.
