I dont spoil but also use knowlegde from lazer on. i would mostly agree with you. The magic itself becomes like a natural phenomenon. So it cant be recognized as one. Defense and tracking is almost impossible if you dont understand the principles behind it. Its like what some demons do later on. I Just say that "Gold" i cant say more without spoilers.

Its as if it is the properties of nature itself, something like gravity but in a direction one wills it to go or even moreso. It cant be detected because its as if the very world acted upon you. like if the nature of the air around you crushed you into dust

@@themushroominside6540 yes thats on point and even if they know whats Happening, the outcome cant be changed Our manipulated without the knowlegde of how that magic works. In a normal battle it would be impossible to counter because you dont have the time to Analyse it.

Her feelings and instincts are also what allows her to learn magic faster than normal and steal others techniques, she's a prodigy like Fern, but less frieren and more Serie in terms of wanting to learn all the magic

Clothes is clothes. Hair is just hair. No matter whatever magic imposed on it. Then it would be cut. Unreasonably reasonable right? That’s why Ubel is dangerous XD

Yeah saying they didn't explain it was a poor choice of words to describe what I was feeling there. During that scene I felt like it was explained HOW she was able to do it but I felt like they didn't explain WHY she was able to do it. A power like that feels incredibly strong because it defies logic and completely defeats the purpose of defensive spells/enchantments just because Ubel wills it. The fact that a "normal" human was just born with something like that was baffling to me because the potential of what she can/can't cut is only limited by her imagination. I just wanted to know why her magic was able to break the rules. It seems like the answer is "it just can" but at the time, a part of me was hoping there was a better answer than that. Thinking back, it's kind of naive for me to expect logic behind every kind of magic especially when Ubel herself said that it defied logic lol

@@CloudyCrow It doesnt really break any rules. Shes just able to ignore the magic defense and only think of of the cloth. Whats stopping other people is that theyre too aware of the defenses to ignore it like she can.

In my defense, Fern's clone and Lawine's clone look VERY similar especially when you see that close up of them at 02:44 😂 As for the Ubel part, if you're talking about what I said at 04:25, then that was just bad word choice on my part. Denken said that they needed to split up and take out the clones that were gathering there. I was trying to say, "Since we haven't seen Ubel's clone, Land's clone, etc. [at this meet-up spot], then maybe something happened to Ubel and Land on their way there. I wasn't trying to say that we haven't seen her clone at all. Hopefully this makes sense lol

Yeah, that's actually a great way to put it. The thing that I think makes it so strong is the fact that it functions based off of her logic of what can and can't be cut. So down the line, I could see her expanding on this and instead of visualizing what scissors can cut though, we might get to more durable things that swords or axes can cut through (like armor).

Wow, I 1000% would've pinned this but in any other video but I gotta pay respects to Toriyama. I appreciate you taking the time to type this though because I actually feel mind-blown after reading this. I just saw this as a simple "Frieren is way stronger than we thought" moment but I could definitely see that magic being a clear reflection of Frieren and her life up until this point. The thing I love most about this series is seeing everyone give their thoughts and theories on the meaning behind certain parts of the story and this is my favorite one next to some of the Aura/demon theories I've read back in episode 10

It's sort of similar to why Rudeus in Mushoku Tensei can't cast healing magic without an incantation. Fundamentally he doesn't understand how healing magic actually does its' thing. Pure magic is somewhat abstract in comparison to something tangible like cloth and hair. It is as simple as her being able to wrap her head around cutting something, she can cut it, if she can't she can't cut it.

ikrr.. so she cant get through pure defensive spells, since they purely exist to stop attacks. but she can slice through objects/material she can visualise cutting, even if they are imbued with defensive magic. its crazy

EXACTLY!!! Like if she was able to cut through Burg by imagining herself cutting through his cloak, what's stopping her from cutting through Fern or even Frieren by imagining cutting their shirts? 😂

@@CloudyCrowthe difference is burg wasnt putting up a spell directly he had the enchanted cloak, frieren or fern would actually put up a spell to block it

The difference is in visualization. You can imagine cutting hair with scissors. You can cutting cloth with scissors. Can you imagine cutting an energy barrier with scissors?

This is exactly why I think her magic is so strong! It's kind of implied that the only reason why she's able to cut through Burg/Sense is because she can visualize cutting hair or cloth. To me, this just sounds like her mind/imagination plays a big part in what she can and can't cut. So in a sense, her power defies logic and is only limited by her imagination.

Exactly! For most of the fight, Frieren and her clone just looked unbothered by everything but there we all could definitely feel a bit of anger coming from the clone

Thanks for taking the time to clear these things up for me 🙏🙏 One thing I did want to clear up though is that (to your first point) I was trying to say that we haven't seen Ubel or Land's statue come to this big clone meeting area yet. That's why I was wondering if something must've happened to Land and Ubel that caused for their clones not to show up alongside the others yet.

I see what you're saying now. I agree with you that believing and visualizing are different but I think that believing is the first step and the key to taking her power further. If she witnesses someone cutting through armor or Stark cutting through stone, I think that could eventually help her to visualize herself doing it as well.

⁠@@CloudyCrowIt doesn’t really work like that. If Ubel sees Stark cut stone, then she believes Stark can. She wouldn’t believe that she herself can cut stone.

@@nickdurant3758 I agree that seeing Stark wouldn't automatically mean that she could do it too but I think Ubel seeing that it's possible from stark could help her get to that point where she starts thinking about whether she could do the same. Imagination is a big part of visualizing and since her magic already forgoes logic by default, I don't even think she'd have to physically cut through stone herself. She should just have to genuinely believe she could do it and imagine herself doing so. In a way, she's already almost there with her magic being able to make those gashes in the stone walls around them.

Fair point 😂 Outside of the two Cheat codes (Frieren and Sirale), I think she's definitely next in line for most OP magic that we've seen. Also great callback to the prison fight! I wonder if Frieren might also know that magic as well now. I just assumed it was unique to Ubel but there's nothing saying she's the only person that knows how to do it.

@@CloudyCrow yea I get you and it probably is but frieren probably just knows a lot of spells because of how long she’s been around. We see the clone frieren teleports/blitz the real frieren with a spell similar to Laufen!

I remembered them saying the clones were gathering there but I thought it was just the clones that were left. I forgot that they mentioned the clones could respawn.

There's no need for the toxic comment man. You could just ask why I think she's overpowered and I can easily explain. 1.) Sense's hair had powerful defensive magic and Burg had powerful defensive magic in his cloak. It was explained that she was able to cut through it because she could visualize cutting through hair, cloth, etc. This means that she completely negates magic resistance spells as long as it's put into anything she think she can cut. Most of the mages we've seen don't wear anything durable like plate armor so basically every mage that uses this kind of resistance magic is going to put it into cloth which is completely useless against her. 2.) They mentioned a few eps back that the clones copy the memories of the original mages. This means that Sense's clone should've been 100% aware of Ubel's magic and still couldn't do anything to stop it even after hearing Ubel's explanation behind it. Now that could be because Ubel was just too fast, Sense didn't know that basic barrier magic would stop it, or maybe she doesn't know any basic barrier magic. Regardless, for Ubel to effortlessly cut down a first-class mage that was aware of how her magic worked is mad impressive. Considering how fast her magic is, it could be lethal especially towards mages that don't know at all how her power works. 3.) When I said "overpowered magic" I was referring to ALL of Ubel's magic. The fact that she can do all of this in combination with being able to copy anyone's magic as long as she gets to know them well enough is why I say she has the most OP magic. Now obviously she's nowhere near the #1 mage but I think her magic gives her the potential to get extremely close. The only thing holding her back from reaching Frieren/Serie's level is the significantly longer lifespans they have (and probably the determination to get to that point). But give Ubel's magic to an elf and they would definitely be up there with the greats. That's why I say her magic is OP instead of Ubel herself.

I can agree but I also kind of disagree with you here. Her power as it exists now isn't overpowered but I think it being so heavily tied to her imagination is what makes it overpowered in my eyes. The only thing stopping her from cutting metal, magic barriers, etc. is her own imagination. If she learns how to control that imagination and just completely forgo logic, she could probably cut through anything

I was reading, I just misspoke there. I explain my confusion/understanding of her powers better at the end of the video.

When you put it that way, I think that's actually a fair point 😂 It shouldn't be too crazy to expect people wanting to become first class mages to have to defeat someone already of that level. What makes it more interesting is that if it weren't for Ubel, even more people probably would've been eliminated

@@CloudyCrow Ubel is surely the worst match up for Sense😂. Even if Denken far stronger than her, the one that could easily defeated Sense is Ubel and that's the point of the second exam, "cooperation". Actually, thanks to Denken's leadership. If it wasn't for him the cooperation between all these mage would have been so terrible even if Frieren was there😂.
