Bruce Willis was already a TV-star when “Die Hard” was made. His breakout was in the romantic-comedy-mystery series “Moonlighting” (1985-89), which I always enjoyed very much. With that as a launching pad, Willis spent years in the mid- to late-1980s trying to parlay his television success into a career in feature films. He languished for years in forgettable rom-coms in which he was repeatedly called upon to reprise his “Moonlighting” TV-persona. But then, “Die Hard” came along. That film re-launched Willis’s career and catapulted him to true superstar status. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Oh a bunch of rom coms? Interesting. He seems made for action movies. 😆

I like how at the start of the film, Bruce rides shotgun with his driver because he's a good guy. Later in the film, the FBI guy drives up being driven by someone else because he's a prick. I love the little moves like that in this film.

I love this movie! I recently saw a documentary on how they shot this film on Netflix. Highly recommended. And Alan Rickman is definitely a fantastic bad guy. He was amazing as professor Snape in Harry potter

I never get tired of this movie. I watch it at least once a year. The sequels have diminishing returns, with more plot holes and escalating action sequences that get to the ridiculous stage. But the second (1990) and third (1995) are definitely worth watching and if you like those you'll probably like the fourth (2007). BTW, the dramatic orchestral music is Beethoven's Ode to Joy, from his 9th symphony, one of the most over-the-top pieces of classical music ever, which is a genius idea.

Great reaction Lots of great time less phrases that's been repeated in a lot of movies and TV shows Fun fact, Alan Rickman and Bruce didn't meet until that scene, and Alan's reaction to falling off the building was genuine, they told him they were going to drop him on 3 and they dropped him on 2 Die Hard 2 is at Christmas Do you know the saying It's not Christmas until Hans falls off the building???? I know if you enjoyed this movie you'll love Lethal Weapon

It isn't Christmas in my house until Hans Gruber falls from the top of the Nakatomi building. 😎 🎄 Fun Fact: Alan Rickman nearly passed up the role of Hans Gruber, which ended up being his first film role. He had only arrived in Hollywood two days earlier and was appalled by the idea of his first role being the villain in an action film. To a degree, Rickman was right to be concerned considering his performance as Hans Gruber was so hailed that the actor had to struggle being typecast as a player of villains for much of his career.

A naive RU-vid viewer is about to enter the Die Hard Zone. Here's a song that (sorta) describes "John McClane's" journey: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wYHleFFhlFk.html Get into Argyle's limousine for a ride to the Nakatomi Plaza building and the Christmas party from Hell. Let's bake a "Christmas Cake." Take one "TV guy," add a stage actor, fold in an Action Adventure script worthy of the time, bake in an improvised over heated by flaming C4, then garnish with 9mm bullets. "Detective John McClane" is an icon because: He isn't a "Rambo clone," takes damage, has moments of fear/humor/introspection, has a working class background, and is "half dead on his feet" in the last quarter of the movie. So, "Christmas doesn't begin until 'Hans Gruber' falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building.;)
