@@Iilah-ah Rell has a shorter cc chain then most encanters, she just has more AOE cc. Still takes 3 times the skil and half the effectiveness then something like nautilus or leona.
Same for me nicky, I mostly like playing champions that no one else tries (singed, trundle, rumble, rammus and a little bit of skarner) and I get why they are underplayed, they have clunky mechanics, are too unintuitive and are outdated, but I kind of wish more people gave these champs a try
As an Ivern main, I present you with a full explanation of Ivern Addiction. 1: He is practically the only support jungler in the game. 2: Playing Ivern gives you the happy chemicals even if you're doing poorly. 3: Since very few people play Ivern, instantaneous ego boost for doing well.
Playing Ivern makes me literally so fucking happy. I absolutely suck balls when I play him support (I'm just not going jungle, no way) and usually even if I liked a champion I'd just stop playing them in this situation, but with him even just hearing his voice lines and hearing his kind sweet voice and watching his silly childlike movements and hearing him giggle gently is a win to me already. They captured his healing sweet aura so perfectly even playing him feels like he's next to you sharing his love and compassion with you. How obvious is it that nobody loves me (I love me though!!!)
I'm so sad about Illaoi, because I love what she represents. In a lore she's a barrier people must overcome. She exists to stir stagnation into motion. So what is she in game? A character that's countered by movement. All her abilities are dodgable (including tentacle slams after she uses W), she had no slows (other than one you get after failing a test of hers), and she's easily countered by running away. But because of all that, she's so counterable, she's too weak for anyone to play her, and too strong against people who don't know how to play against her. She's a great character that represents her lore like no other, but that makes it so she's barely playable.
I'd say what they were trying to do with her kit was to create someone who forces you to keep on your toes, keep moving, or she's going to beat your ass
@@simioncristian7799 or you could play any champion that doesnt need a gameplan or huge game knowledge to win lane and the game and can actually do stuff if the enemy start to just move in the opposite direction of you in which case if illaoi miss her e there is nothing more she can do.
@@grimacetexas9719 as I've said, dirtymobs is proof that you can pressure even top players with illaoi, the gameplan switches to a way more strategic mindset than what mobas usually are, you don't shoot your e until you have a 90% chance of hitting it, you use e-r-flash on squishies, etc. it doesn't matter if the players can just run away from you, if you pressure the turrets they will have to fight you sometime, and as an illaoi player you use that as a tool you could play other champions for sure, but there's some people (including myself) that really enjoy slapping people with tentacles
A Problem that wasnt adressed about asol is also, that they just mishandled him in so many ways. He actually had a small but thriving community of mains, i was one of them, but then they reworked him to make him more "accessable", taking away from his skill ceiling, without making him any easier to play, just fucking over the core gameplay of the mana and star management. Asol mains hated it, everybody else didnt even notice it and he just dropped even harder. Half the topics on the asol subreddits are along the lines of "riot pls revert" and they actually reached out to them, asking if they would prefer him to keep his high dps or his high roaming abilitys. Next thing they did was nerfing his e (his roaming ability) so hard, that they reverted it next patch. So hurray for being an Asol main i guess, good thing im not one any longer. Also didnt help that with the item reworked they fucked over his buildpaths, removing half of his core build, as without hextech glp, glacial is a near worthless rune, with everfrost as an ok mythic while the others were rather dogshit. So yeah, niche gameplay, messing with the mains, an unwanted rework, deleting his buildpath and releasing overtuned monsters like yones that eat him up for breakfast. Poor asol really got shit on

Besides Viega, everyone else was predetermined due to them being the main band they followed. If they wanted to dedicate more to Viego's squad of evil music dudes/dudettes to destroy the Pentakill gang, then Rell definitely should be there.
The EverGloom Finding Light I completely agree. And she has been out for over a year and she has not gotten a single skin. But champs that came out after her like Gwen and Viego get skins a couple of months after they came out it’s very sad being a Rell main
@@8wayfunz She was awful only because no one knew how to use her. No one knew how to use the w e combo and her play style was a lot more different compared to other mages. However; her cooldowns were incredibly low for how the game was at that time and those that did know how to use her demolished almost every single match up.
I remember when Asol came, its was like the begining of a cult where almost anyone was too afraid to join but those who did and became devouted actually got magical powers, and then rito gave him a MINI rework and 90% of the small cult left, only around 100 members worldwide still on Asol, being the apex of the IQ mater on 999 IQ or something, and then rito nerfed him. AGAIN so now only 12 ultra fanatics are on Asol. its not about the game, its about devoution, fatih and AP.
I main him since the last few patches of season 10, primarily because I love the character design and because he’s the most satisfying champion to pop off with in my opinion. I’m also seeing great success with him, since after around 20-ish games, you start to get the feeling for the champion and can win pretty consistently.

I've seen 3 Rells in the past 30 days. Each time I saw her, we decimated bot lane because her engage would miss or do nothing. Her ult where she pulls you towards her did nothing but get us closer to the low health adc. It was so bad that I had to buy her to see how it is. Only except, it turned out I owned her since release and had forgotten about it. PS Love Ornn so much. Catch me and my buddy going Ornn-Taric bot with both running Evenshroud. Moving isn't allowed and you will be punished for engaging on 2 cc tanks.
I still remember when Rell was released, I gave her one look and said to myself "Oh, she's like a Taric with no heals nor shields combined with a Leona with awkward stuns, but more team dependant... yeah, she's never getting picked"
She has a healing mechanic but is so useless that makes no difference at all if you land a Q or not. not even her shield burst is usefull unless is against Sett or Tham Kench, and Sett will kill you regardless
She's a great champ if you duo bot but like a lot of supports that depend on the team ,one can only land so many 5 man ults into a team wide 3 second stun duration and then no team mates follow up and you just die before you just play someone else. She's just not a solo queue champ

Her Q deals really low damage and the healing scales with that, which makes no sense cus you want to build her tank instead of AP, and even if you do it scales poorly on AP. Her 1st W is really easy to avoid, and the 2nd W is a worst Singed's E since is an on-hit effect meaning the range on it is your auto-attack range, and is non existent. Then there is her E, a stun with so short duration that most of the time it doesn't make a significant difference like Pantheon's W or Blitzcrank's E. Then her R is ok but you can literally walk outside it if you have tier 2 boots, and it sucks since the whole point is that she is supposed to go in and pull people into her team to change a teamfight forcing a bad positioning om the enemy team, but no, you can just walk on the opposite direction she moves and get out of the AoE, or just not give a shit about it and keep fighting because it just barely pulls you, not stun, not slow, not exhaust, not resistances or healing reduction, not even a silence.
I said the day i have seen her take my money, bought whole bundle with the icon. Man look at her shes fockin metal armored lady with a lance, on a fockin metal horse. SHE IS SO FOCKIN AGGRESIVE as a SUPPORT. I play her ap with shurelya's and zhonya, her whole kit scales with AP with 3 AOE Ablities its psyhotic. Her early game damage is insane, as far as im looking to all in lvl 1 taking w with my adc. Hitting combo with her feels so good while playing clashes and flex with 4 people screaming in my ears while doing FLASH W R E STOPWATCH, shes nuts.
I honestly thought when Rell got released she was gonna be a tank champion that can naturally counter Mordekaiser, then they made her a very complicated support. Poor Rell ☹️
I honestly thought she might have been able to flex top, but her kit is soo underwhelming in just about everything it does. She would just get steamrolled by any meta top laner that can just force fights and chunk her out of lane. I was kind of hoping that she would flex top.
I feel like she's a unique champion, but she just doesn't execute the theme/idea that Riot was trying to push. If I'm recalling correctly, weren't they promoting her as like a gigantic tank/almost anti-tank tank? She's a support so she's not very tanky and her W doesn't make up for it. She doesn't feel like a threat and she just doesn't sell the idea, especially with her design/model. Again, it's very unique and I can appreciate that but I don't think it's what people were expecting/hoping for.
Nothing makes me happier than being a Viktor main since 2013, when he was consistently in the top 5 least played every month, and NOT seeing him on this list. We love to see a king winning
Illaoi wasn’t stronger on release, in fact, she never got nerfed since day one except when they changed her E a bit years ago. The champions she faced at the time however were more favorable
as a kled main, this isnt a buff, they are ending his tank build because of the bonus hp change, since they want him to build ad, but his wr will drop for sure
This patch murdered titanic, steraks (ok not really but it does get a bit worse but that’s because the item is giga busted) and gargoyles which were basically crutches for him, all with the promise that we’ll eventually got compensation buffs, ok riot

It's really funny because there are so many champs Skooch put in the 1/100 and 1/500 categories but I see them only because of my friends who play some of them.
This is why skootch, is legendary. He needs his own champ in the game. That Aurelion Sol bit was so spot on I died laughing. The only time us AurelionSol mains shine is up in the stars
The tier list as a whole seemed relatively good from the perspective of most of the playerbase excluding high elo gameplay. Reason I say that is cause champions like Kalista and Azir are seen a bit more in those high elo lobbies cause the players who mastered these kinds of champs are terrifying to play against. If you play against a really good Kalista, there is little you can do to her if you can't hard CC her in every fight. It's like her and Azir have a secondary skill ceiling that only a few gifted players who OTP them have access to that make the champion so unbearably hard to lane against that you want to just stop trying to fight them and just try and cs as much before you inevitably die to them. Kalista and Azir are the two that pop out to me the most as maybe being somewhere higher on the tierlist if we were thinking of the high elo lobbies specifically, but there are others that could also be adjusted for high elo specific lobbies. Also, Heimerdinger is no where near the 1/500 games if you look at Bronze and Silver games. That dude be popping in those elos still lol
@@k3y155 Illaoi is a sick champion as well, but I do tend to se her more often in lower elo lobbies than Kalista or Azir. That being said, I could 100% see her being a terror to fight against in the higher elo lobbies if it's an Illaoi OTP (the amount of healing she gets and the range she gets from her E [or at least I think it's the E ability, whichever can grab a champion] is nutty)
Kalista is my favorite adc. In the right hands, she really is quite terrifying. The durability patch hurt her kill threat a bit, but also made her relevant in pro play again, which is cool, but also it's never a good thing when one of your mains is showing up in pro play because that's a reliable indicator that they're about to be nerfed back into the ground, simply for being good at what they were good at, now they're going to be bad at that and everything else too, even if they weren't doing well >_< I don't think they'll make her entirely unplayable though unless they "rework" her because even if they entirely removed her ult she'd still be strong in the hands of someone who is good at making use of her mobility and is good at eyeballing her E executes. Really, her auto(dash), Q(dash) and her E are fun enough by themselves that that could be all she had and I'd still play her.
As an Udyr Jungle player, I can attest that you are indeed inting. He falls off the face of the rift end game, as hes just a fast stat ball that can only do so much depending on his stats. Late game has you pretty much running in with E, stun someone, then proceed to get nuked in every teamfight unless its a duel. You have to snowball your laners and hope to god they carry. Can't wait for the re-work though!
"Trick would like a few words with you" Jokes aside, Udyr takes bases like no others, you just open up their base and run away so freely too, and if you play your teamfight right you can finesse most things i love it. Still gets blown up if caught with like some slow or someshit
Udyr is in a bad place RN, that's for sure. He's an early ganker, good duelist and can take objectives quickly so he's not ALL bad (like Azir), but not only the powercreep of the new itens / champions nuked him out of the rift, his main strenghts are nullified because soloQ players rarely coordinate to help Udyr's splitpushing abilities...they will ping and flame the f**k out of you if you play the champion like he was meant to be played. He was pretty popular in pro play though, so that's nice I guess
Well keeping her out of riot's vision is the best thing can happen to an otp. No nerfs, no balance changes, no bans, no picks; she may be broken af but no one may notice it

18:54 I don't know if you were memeing or not, but keld's changes weren't buffs, they were closer to what I would call a "Nuclear Castration". The changes completely destroyed all his builds and were supposed to nerf the shit out of him. Riot even went on reddit and said they're gonna see how they can re-buff him before the changes even came out.
Kindred-Taric is one of my favorite solo/duo bot lanes cause with the power of 7 seconds of invunerability and nobody having a clue how to play against these forgotten champs its just a great time all around.
I started playing Rell after watching Vars' video on her, assuming i could get some use out of her. But her problem is quite simple: What any other cc support can do in 1 or 2 basic abilities, Rell needs her whole combo including ult to do. Her Q is basically a non-existing ability and her E can only be used with an ally, so like Kalista, its like she really only has 2 abilities most of the time.
Rell has been nerfed around release time so her strength isn't the issue. She just isn't flavor of the month anymore, so wait until riot give her some love taps, and ppl will start playing her again.

She needs some added mechanics but he numbers are also just bad in general, Her E adds armor/MR to her ally, but not enought to be good, the stun is only 0.5s, which is terrible and she HAS to bind to someone to even use it. Her W's knock up is kinda hard to land considering how clearly its telegraphed and how long the jump takes and if you land it you knock the enemy up for 1s only. Thresh's Q alone stuns for 1.5s which is Rells W-E Combo combined, but not only that, its also ranged and a pull. In my eyes, Rell needs a completely new Q and higher stun duration on E at LEAST before people even think about playing her.
She has literally no damage which is how tank support should be, the problem is she’s not tanky enough. She’d be perfect if once she jumped off her horse she was one of if not the tankiest champion in the game, since she has 0 damage and low movement speed, but as is she just gets one shot way to easily.

As a Rell and Maokao main I feel the pain. Rell can be so good and I've turned around entire games with her wombo combo ulti, but you need to always play around someone. Now Maokai is super fun to play and I feel like he wants to be an AP bruiser, but no good items for them so he is forced to be a tank
Glad to see another yorrick lover I legit slept on his rework but a year after playing it especially during zz rot meta I was able to improve jumped from silver to gold to plat
I have just picked up Yorick and love him, but I have to learn how to work around maiden better. I can't count how many times Maiden ends up ahead of me and I'm like "no, please come back" and she just hangs out until she dies.

The blessing and curse of Rell is her ENTIRE kit is to lockdown the enemy. It limits her play style a bunch, but from my experience it only takes one diver to make your lockdown potential an entire lane wide.
I still remember when Rell came out. I was brand new to the game and I thought it was so cool that we were getting a new champion. I played her nonstop in Nexus Blitz building movement speed on her like a janky Warwick until I hit Mastery 5 and I havent touched her since. Rell really wouldve been so much better as a Top Laner. I mean, she was literally groomed to take down Mordekaiser,,, plus she talks constantly about how she cant trust anyone why the hell would she be a support????

I'm surprised Syndra wasn't on this list, honest to god I've played vs or with syndra at most 2 times this season, I genuinely forgot she was an actual champion in the game
Syndra is still around, she is not a dominant mid laner like before, but she can get fed really easily, she is like a viegar who you can't really avoid well. She scales really well for a mage and can solo games if needed. Bad bot lane? Press R, Bad top lane, kite and poke to death. She is still played a bit.
coming back to see this list and seeing how different things are now for some of these and how some of them are probably less played now than then, is kinda crazy when you think about it

Feels bad when half of this roster contains some of my favourite champs. Neeko and ASol are fun AP damage dealers while Illoai and Kindred are some of the more fun and interesting kits for AD. Also, Kled is one of the most fun characters just based on his personality and no one can change my mind!

I fell in love with Taliyah and Kindred when I first started playing because I really liked the general themes of the champions. But after failing so badly it traumatized me to only play the champions consistently years later, I just decided to main other champions who Riot actually liked. It sucks so much maining champions Riot doesn't care about!
I started playing kindred the second i downloaded league (paid 5$ in RP to buy her bc i loved her sm) and... i was met with *so* much difficulty. Going from bot games into real games it was like I was suddenly put against challenger players. Kindred is and will forever be *so difficult* until riot decides to make her a ranged bruiser like Jayce. Of course, getting good at her is hella rewarding (hit m7 a few days ago and still am riding on that high), but she is *very* counterable. Kha'zix, rengar, talon, all of the assassin junglers just. Kick her ass to next week. Udyr, volibear, tanks which she *should* be able to kite have point and click stuns or ways to lock her down and bridge the gap. All of the meta junglers just completely outclass Lamb and Wolf. bc of this, i like to think of kindred as the Ultimate Skill Checker champion - (her *only* favourable matchup is lillia) if you play kindred and you jungle diff to oblivion, the enemy jungler just sucks. it makes me so sad bc her entire kit is based around dueling and invading for powerspikes, but yet.. she can't duel well, and if the enemy team has any braincells and knows how to counterplay, you will always be jumped on when going for marks. Kha'zix pops her like a balloon. Rengar one shots. Volibear stuns and wins trades. Udyr just. stuns and lethal tempos while chasing... Not to even *mention* Veigo and how he just shreds constantly due to his batshit kit.
You see Warwick in your games, but he has also been kinda forgotten by Riot. Using the Skarner logic, it is the same with Warwick as well then. For example, Divine Sunderer, Lethal Tempo, Predator, Titatic Hydra, Ravenous hunter, Relentless Hunter, etc. were all things that were good on Warwick, but even better on other champions. Plus he hasn’t received a buff or a nerf in almost 2 years.
Warwick falls into the Wukong category. He’s too easy to play and that makes him unappealing for most players. In low elo I see a lot more Warwicks than in higher ranked games
as a Warwick main, he did get a nerf this season and also a bug fix iirc or some tweaks after nerf. Also, he did get his Old God skin this year so he isn't forgotten

I recently went back to playing league after a 2-year break from the game and the first champion that presented with me on a spiritual level even more so than good'oll rengar was lilia which made me realize that these champions on the list were given up on not because they were simply a balance nightmare, but because they didn't resonate with the player base as much as the likes of yone, yassuo, master yi.... Wich is sad honestly, And big shoutout to ivern mains out there, you are my favorite type of people to play with and against, which is rare for me tbh.
argument in favor of wukong, 1. if you say he has bad damage, play full crit wukong and you will VERY quickly change that sentiment 2. if you know how to play wukong with his clone, he becomes a completely different champion and one of the most annoying nightmares on the rift, which is even more insane because his kit is so braindead easy, but no one knows how to effectively use his clone except for wukong jonathan of course
I still miss prerework Skarner. I had soooo much fun playing him ap. At that point he was already a uncommon pick, so no one knew how to play against him and then they were all just so suprised with my massive shield and great healing.
I would instaplay Rell if she got added to top lane. I love her design, I love her thematic, I love her gameplay, I love her personality, she's just so horribly restricted to a role I don't want to play unless I have a duo partner.
i played her a good amount (got lucky with a good free skin on her) and she's so fun and great when you play with an adc who knows how to take advantage of cc but like her q sucks (even if you build ap it does like nothing) her autos are so slow that you pretty much can only use abilities and get out. that sounds fine bc most champs do it till you remember SHES A TANK and she should be able to stay and fight not just throw her abilities then stand there getting attacked while you wait for them to get off cd. dead ass just give hear attack speed and up her ap ratio on her q to like 70% (even just 50% its on 20% last i checked) and you got a way stronger champ who can got top lane. (what to do with e? attach to jungler so when he comes to gank you can get early stun off on the enemy top)
Play her top in normal draft for some fun. It's completely worth it. You can legitimate beat the snot out of Illaoi while under her "test of spirit." Just don't ever put a point in Rell's tether and max out her E first. You can legit stat check all day.
@@DJAizakku Any Illaoi who's worth their salt will ult when you try to knock her up. You dodge the knock up, get a free slam from multiple tentacles if illaoi hit e, and even if Rell ults, you may still be able to w if you're close enough to her as illaoi. Honestly, I only think she works top lane occasionally is because almost no top laners know what she does, and therefore has no clue how to play the matchup.

I'm beginning to think this varies heavily between regions, cause in OCE I feel like I see Kindred, Udyr, Taric & Illaoi at least once every ten games. The champs I never see would have to be Corki & Quinn (except when I play her RIP)... Agree with Rell tho, think I've seen her played less than even Corki and A Sol.
Kinda funny seeing udyr placement, here in Brazil we all colectively have a small cult to udyr, (we affectionally call him "uga", as the sounds caveman do in media), we love his sheer raw power from presence alone, and mostly play him cuz it's fun.

They changed his AOE dmg reduction ult into a AOE root, but then years later gave that old damage reduction ultimate to Xin Zhao instead.... Idk how I just realized that Xin Zhao got old Maokai's ultimate.... Edit: 33:30 Wukong seems weak, but had the highest win rate of all top laners towards the last half of last season. I used to (and still do) use him as a pocket pick for when I get filled as a top laner and I agree that for some reason he doesn't feel like he is strong. However, he was relatively strong in the end of last season's meta but it went unnoticed by a lot of players.
xin ult is nowhere near old maokai ult, he had damage reduction for everyone inside circle and he stored double the dmg absorbed to later just explode everyone near him. Meanwhile xin is just like ' get away from me and dont attack me' .
aurelion sol is what got me into the game, its just so sad to see that he NEVER gets any love or attention by riot... unless his winrate is "too high" because the 7 people who play him are good at the champ

I know everything about her and i trust what i am doing with her. 2. Even if i feed i still can be usefull to my team; stunning putting up walls, slowing with my ult etc. 3. I know that a fed anivia is a happy anivia one shotting people before they blink or ieven get out of my ult range 4. Even if i die i have my egg, and i usually play with my friends so they protect me :3 5. She makes my heart happy always when i play her. PS. if anyone have wondered i'm an 700k bird main :3
I love this video because I’ve begun to spam play Illaoi mid and have had crazy success with it. No one has any idea how she works and if it’s a melee matchup they get bullied out so hard I can sometimes tower dive them level 3 for first blood.
Illaoi mid has a higher winrate than top right now across most elos, and I'm willing to bet it's because of the abundance of squishy champs that can be easily killed by even a tank build, which is apparently what some high elo illaoi mids do.
I didn't see Rell at all for the 2 first months of her release, and the first time I saw her was when I decided to try her... I think I only had around 20 games in which she was picked SINCE HER RELEASE
I need a bronze theory kindred and camille or tristana.The idea is when everybody is low kindred ults everybody chills in the ult untill camille and tristana ults pushing enemies outside kindred ult and kindred finishes the job.
I was thinking the same thing but with kindred adc, azir mid and malphite top. In teamfights azir kindred and support stick together and malphite looks to flank, when the fight gets dirty kindred ults, then azir ults the enemy team out as the ult pops then malphite flanks onto the enemies letting azir and kindred clean it up
I am extremely new to the game, asked a friend which champions were cool to play since there is no way to try them out in traning mode, all the characters he showed me seemed kinda boring but apparently they were played often. Then I looked at the champions list and scrolled through all of them, saw Rell and instantly said "ok that's my character and there is nothing you can do to change my mind" Happy to see League go in the long list of games in which I play the actual least used character or playstyle possible !
Rell I don't know, but for Taliyah I can give an answer as to why she feels so strong but so weak at the same time. She has absolutely insane damage, one of the absolute highest bursts in the game, but she only functions in 2 ways. Either you're a smurf and you can snowball your damage out of control before anyone can do anything about you, or you have a team capable of setting you up, because Taliyah on her own SUCKS at placing down her insane damage. Either people have to dash through your E, or you have to land W which is stupidly hard to do in a vacuum, and let's not forget that sometimes you fail to cast your E after your W and you lose dmg because of it, chaining these 2 spells can be frustrating I don't know if there's a proper buffer for it.
@@markopusic8258 Rell is good, because how how she can play aroun resistences how she can desterb people with her w, e and R. she is pretty tanky and gives her ADC resistences. the only problems are that her CC is way too short and that she dosent have damage at all and u are the slowest champ when u engage, as an engaging support........... that means that u have to fully commit to the engage, get ur CC timing right so u can make the best out of it AND u have to relay on ur ADC to do enough damage to the enemy, so they cant chase u down. Rell with a good ADC is in my experience a very good choise, but she gets puniched hard for mistakes
Yorick being one of the only champs to never be relevant despite being in the game for so long and being, in fact, gaming Also Taric is a great champ once you understand he is a Juggernaut in Enchanter clothing.
On Anivia and Ivern I believe that is due to the fact that they have a well rounded kit, with 1 ability that does not deal damage but has awesome interactions. Anivias Wall and Iverns Brush. Missusing them? Well it does not appear on your damage meter, but when you brush an objective so the enemy jungler can not smite, when you wallbash someone back into your blizzard to kill them with another E, when you siege a tower with brushes making the enemy fear every inch they move forward or when you knock some Nasus into Wraith-pit or sandwitch someone between a wall and their tower: There is nothing more statisfying than that. There is so much potential with these non-damaging abilities, that games just feel different each time.
As a Rell and Illaoi main I completely agree with this tier list. Sadly I don’t see them reworking Rell since they gave her too many unique abilities, and buffing her so that she does not have to rely on her teammates would make her too strong. I started to enjoy her more thanks to evenshroud.
they did azir so dirty with his ult not blocking dashes that it took until ultimate spell book for me to find out because i hadn't seen azir before then.
