Great yankees years come and go but these years stood out to me core four maybe 2014 ! No copy right infringement intended I don't own these clips clips belong to mlb.com I don't make profit from my videos clips belong to mlb.com
They were just head and shoulders far above the rest of baseball in '98. They had teams beat before they even took the field. Once they raced out to such a record start, the question wasn't whether or not they'd win the World Series, but in how many games they would win.
I remember showing this video to my mother last post season, she was a life long die hard yanks fan, she passed this year so I cant help but get choked up watching it. we're bringing it home in 2019 for her! #28ForDeborah! its been 10 years! lets get another Yankees!
So sorry for your loss. She's watching you with a SMILE from above and can now watch Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, Yogi, and more Yankee legends play in the GREATEST BALL PARK. CLOUD 9 STADIUM!!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
I'm Yanks fan, but while, I was watching the 98 title win and saw, Tony Gwyn I couldn't help but get a little sad what a great hitter gone way to soon.
Yeah me too. I'm a lifelong Yankees fan, but always liked and respected Tony Gwynn. Glad I got to see him play once, years ago. Class act, gone too soon.
The year I was born Mickey Mantle from Oklahoma my state went to the Yankees and when I turned 6, I started watching him on Saturday afternoon and by the time he retired like so many kids I lived to see the greatest thing to ever happen for baseball. He had it all. Looks, talent and everyone liked him even the Yankees in New York finally. They sure did not deserve him. I couldn't believe that his own town was boooing him.
this was the greatest team of the time and IMO of ALL TIME. The thrills they gave us has been matched only once, the NY Islanders winning their 4 Stanley Cups in a row grom 1980-1983.
Not a Yankee fan but was cheering for them vs Atlanta in the 1996 World Series, that Yankee team played gutsy and never quit even after losing badly in the 1st two games at home, came back & won the next 4 straight. Such a scrappy team that had destiny on their side. 1998 Yankees were far more dominant though but the '96 Yankees were like an 'underdog' team & I often have a soft spot for teams like that. :-)
That dynasty from 96-00 was amazing. We have 2 HOF players from that time and imo Bernie and Pettitte should be as well. But we also had so many players step up in the postseason. El Duque, O’Neill, Tino, Broscious, Cone, etc. That was truly one of the best TEAMS ever. We had no weaknesses and could win in so many ways.
@@Landis_Grant absolutely, it could have been 7 in that time frame. Idk if 02 against Anaheim happens if they don’t lose in 01 to Arizona. Taking nothing away from the Angels, but that Yankee team was never the same mentally after 2001.
@@JCR1992 Soriano homered in the top of 9th for a 2-1 lead and then Rivera began to warm up in the pen. Mariano blew the save, the game, and the 2001 World Series. Mike Mussina was crying in the dugout.
@@Landis_Grant didn’t Mo strike out the side in the 8th? I’d rather see them lose in a blowout like game 6 instead of being 3 outs away from winning a 4th straight and 4th in 5 years.
I’m an angels fan and 2009 was a great year for both the angels and Yankees I was disappointed that the angels could get past them in the LCS but had total respect for the Yankees and Jeter, A-Rod and Teixeira too and I was cheering for them to beat the Phillies because so many people I knew started hated the yanks but seeing them beat philly after philly won it all the year before was so satisfying it showed the world yanks got better hitting than the high powered Phillies
@@martinelliotedwards1883 fucking bullshit. You are from texas so you are either an astro or rangers fan, and if you are an astro fan you better shut up cause no one payed any attention to them until 2017. Yankee fans are the most passionate in the sport. Stop being a stupid fool
7:49 while showing the Yankees beat the Mets in the 2000 World Series, he says, “they’re able to win their third WS in four years.” Wasn’t 2000 their fourth in five years?
@@Alanbaseball buddy my grandfather grew up watching Babe Ruth play and passed the love of the yankees down through the family. Astro fans meanwhile are bandwagons, you guys only show up when you're team makes the postseason where the yankees even if we have a somewhat down year we still have 40,000 fans in the stadium every day
@@dociebiemowie915 red sox only 9 title championships. ..but yankees 27 titles championships, #1 team at united States of America new York Yankees. ..yessssssss Let's go Yankees at 2019 season. .!!!!
They were the team of the 20s 30s 40s 50s and 90s The 60s teams were good but really after 63 they struggled in the 70s they were good with reggie jackson in the late 70s winning 2 proved they were back the 80s they didnt win a world series than out of nowhere winning 4/5 they were the team of the 90s
@@haydendarr9323 both of you are right, but you must include Cleyber Torres! Unless I miss my bet, this kid is the future of the team, a potential captain. He's got a Jeter like presence. Go Yankees!!!!!!!
Only one more World Series championship than the hated Red Sox in that period of time. Just as important is the Yankees last won in 2009 while the BoSox won in 2018.
Best thing that happened to the Yankees was John Wetland (not sure of spelling) opting for free agency which resulted in the rise Mariano Rivera as the greatest closer EVER.
Fun Fact #1: None of the championship teams 96, 98, 99, or 00 had a Yankee with 30 or more regular season home runs. Fun Fact #2: No team in MLB has won back-to-back titles since the Yankees. You know a team is great when everyone complains you keep winning and they need to changes the rules of the game after. :)
@@waynej2608 The Yankees haters appear when the Yankees lose, But they are very salty and deny a Yankees Dynasty and I am very sure a Yankees Dynasty will happen in the future too, I hope they will win 28,29 and 30 before I die, LOL I'm 46 yrs old, hahahaha
I really really want to hear ballgame over, World Series over, the Yankees win…theeeeeee Yankees wiiiiiiin. Also matsui was a beast in the 09 world series
I feel bad for all the teams the Yankees faced in the world series during those dynasty years they just were no match for that young Mariano Rivera, Jeter, Posada, Pettite, yankee team. They just weren't on their level. The Yankees were just eating them up for breakfast. I'm from NY and I remember watching those Yankees and their season games throughout the season they just were so programmed for baseball ⚾️it was unbelievable how strong that team was and how dominate they were too.
@@TheMrKobeBryant2012 They have five in the last 40 years and seven in the last 56 years. 20 of their titles came between 1923 and 1962. I'm not a Yankees fan but I can tell you every World Series winner.
@@TheMrKobeBryant2012 dumbass. It gets passed down from generation. My grandpa grew up watching Ruth and Gehirg and he passed down the yankee love to my mom and my uncle who then passed it down to me
Don Paratore I respect you. I'm a yankees fan since 1990, so I'm still young, but the Yankees need more fans like you who don't just show up when we make the World Series. Guys like you who support the Yankees when they're on bottom too are the best 👑
The core 4+ arod, teixeria had to Burnett and sabathia be some of the best hit stopping and hit inducing lineups they Yankees had since the 70s too bad they couldn’t have a dynasty from 2009thru 2012
Yeah but he saved a hell of a lot and we won so much because of him. The blown saves are still extremely painful especially 01 game 7, but he was a huge part of the success.
1998: Pads fans, in a scene straight out of Little Big League, stayed after the 4th game and gave the Padres a long ovation. Players were astonished. One of the best things I've seen in 50+ years of baseball watching.
@@sindesilva1166 The only one the "Core 4" wasn't favored in was 1996 and it still haunts Atlanta until this day. It's almost up there with that Super Bowl collapse against New England.
You guys got anal raped by the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS. Don't feel bad, my Braves nearly got swept but nearly forced a game 5 against the eventual NL Champion Los Angelous Dodgers.
@@spartan7911 well from 1978 Yankees world series win to 1996 world series that's 18 years. I don't mind another 20 years, tell me G.T. what team are you a fan? Don't tell me you are a bandwagon Astros fan?? Hahahha!!
