sorry, but I don't know what planet you are from, but most gay guys are not out in HS nor really in College beyond friends - Sports is still incredibly homophobic, but of course no coach would get away with this now even that said.
Probably one third of the UCLA student body identifies as either gay or bisexual. And homophobia is just as much as a race related issue as a jock culture issue
@@xBINARYGODx idk about the other guy, but of course I'm not saying that there aren't parts of sports that are homophobic, just that no school or college in America would let the coach get away with benching a kid just because he's gay nowadays
I want to see the Strangers With Candy version of Dhar Mann so badly (someone else here remembers that show, right?) Like with the woman being mean to the waitress one, instead of her becoming a waitress herself when her mother cuts her off and she learns the lesson she would just open an onlyfans, make a shitload of money and learn no lesson. I can see it perfectly lol
@@daskampffredchen9242 I could imagine it like a key and peels sketch. “What? No way that dudes gay.” And then in the background he’s in a pink unitard, waving a rainbow flag.
come on dude, kssing your homies good luck for their game is completely straight. pounding one out on the locker room is pretty standard too you know, but those rainbow towels? yeah thats pretty gay
Dhar Mann: "You see, you shouldn't treat gay people like shit not because they are human beings but because one day they'll beat you at something that you care about" yet again a great lesson from Dhar Mann...
"I'm a recruiter. I love how you weren't there for the whole game, switched in at the last second and got off one lucky shot. That Kind of shitty reliability is exactly what we need on our basketball team at UCLA!"
Honestly wouldn’t anyone be able to play well and get shots off when they’re completely fine while everyone else is drained from an entire championship game of basketball
Why don't these teams have any names or numbers? How is BFG able to just switch over from blue to red? If we assume these are two different high school teams, no way they would just let some random new guy join their team, especially without filing a bunch of paperwork that would never get processed in a single night. And why are the exact same teams playing against each other two days in a row if this is supposed to be a tournament? I'd assume that it's a "2/3 winner takes the W" sort of thing, but I don't think that sort of thing really happens with high school b-ball, and Good Coach straight up said that this was his first win against Bad Coach. Is this just a best of two and red team has port priority? And why are there so few people at this final tounmament match, all of them forced to watch in shitty chairs behind a chain fence, especially if this game is apparently important enough to warrent the UCLA have a guy take time out of his busy day to watch it? A good amount of my questions could be answered if we assumed that this was a rec league, but then why would a recruiter even go to some random ass rec game to look for an athlete when he could go to a real high school game that actually has organization and stats and stuff? In other words, I don't think Dhar Mann has ever actually been inside a real high school. Edit: So I just watched this video again and noticed even more dumbshit. Around the beginning of the video, Bad Coach specifically says that them winning the first game would being them to Game 7, and this comment manages to destroy any sense of realism that was attempting to be conveyed. The way basketball playoffs in the NBA work, it's a best 4 out of 7, which is what I assume is what Dhar Mann is trying to go for here. The thing is, as soon as one team wins their fourth game, that's all folks. It would be a giant waste of time to play any more games when you already know who the winner is. For this statement by Bad Coach to be valid with everything else that occured in the video, either: A) He was trash talking Good Coach and lying straight to his face about his flawless record against him. This is the most realistic option, but at the same time, there is no way something as subtle as that would ever intentionally make it into a Dhar Mann video. B) Bad Coach was only talking about tournament matches as a whole (the 4/7 wins thing) as a form of trash talk. Remember what I said in letter A about Dhar Mann and subtlety to know why this explanation isn't valid enough. C) No matter the number of wins or losses prior in the tournament, the team that wins Game 7 is the one who wins the whole thing, which is easily the dumbest way you could ever design a tournament. Somehow, this Dhar Mann video managed to have a more convoluted, confusing plot than _Amusement_ , which is just staggering
I like how his boyfriend didn't defend him in any way at any point. If this were real life, the boyfriend would probably get the coach fired so quickly.
Yeah and he leaves his boyfriend to get scolded by the coach in the hallway just because coach said "you wait here!" even though he has no power over him.
@@Blocparty01 i really like how instead of knowing full well about the towel incident and seeing what happened in the hallway he waits until the coach leaves to speak on what happened and he isn't going to report his clearly abusive behavior just do some petty sympathy pull he's just not a good coach either if he isn't showing good leadership skills in front if a full court of people
" Dhar man always makes me cry. These guys are great actors that it always makes me hate the bad guys and love the good guys. " - A comment on the actual video.
Some people are media illiterate and wouldn’t know good acting or writing if it kicked them in the dick. I tell myself this when I see shit like this to stop my faith in people from slipping. It doesn’t work
I knew it wasn't going to happen, but I love it if the coach "lived to regret it" because he got sued for discrimination, and the video just turns into a courtroom drama halfway through
As someone who’s been recruited by scouts, the absolutely would not pick up someone who was absent the entire game And came in for the last 2 min no matter how good they played the day before. Liam didn’t even have a reason to be that late
I like how the homophobic coach doesn't suffer any consequences for his homophobia. Realisticly, the coach would've been sued and fired, but here, all that happens to him is that he gets proven wrong and his team doesn't win the championship, which doesn't really affect him. Nothing changed for him and no one really cared about him being homophobic.
And you gotta love how the "good" coach finds out about Liam getting kicked off his team for being gay and his first reaction is to convince him to play for HIS team rather than help Liam report his coach for such blatant discrimination.
Basically, don’t treat different people with respect because they’re human beings and thus deserve the same decency you’d apply to other people, but because they’re good at something and are useful to you.
Who are these videos even for? Are gay kids always the best basketball players in their team? like, if anything this video is gonna make them feel worse if they don't play that well. That is why it is frustrating when people say that Dhar Man videos spread positivity and shouldn't be judged.
I feel this woulda worked better if his boyfriend run up and kissed him after he won the game. Those two things that "outed" him can be easily waved off lol "Why do you have a rainbow towel" "Oh, it's the only clean one I had" "Why was that boy waving at you" "He's my friend and wanted to support me?"
Imagine how funny it would be if the video played like the dude was removed from the team because he was gay but at the end it turns out he was just purposefully late to all games to make all their victories more dramatic.
I'm surprised there weren't any comments on just how much Dhar Mann skimped out on actually spending money for this video. The scoreboard literally says Soccer on it, the court is like this tiny little area that seated maybe 12 people. Meanwhile the other half of his videos have characters talking about their "crappy" cars which are crazy better than anything I could afford.
Shit, I just noticed. I always assumed they had a low budget, but there’s no way that’s the case when they regularly bring in iPhones, high end clothing, and Porsches.
Dhar choking his actors: "Listen, you fucking worm. You're ruining my goddamn inspirational video with your shitty acting. I'm changing lives here, so you better read the fucking lines I wrote for you correctly, or the next life I'm gonna change is yours to a dead one!"
I worked at a steel nail factory for a summer job and the factory was like having an 100 year anniversary or something and they gave all the workers a towel exactly like that
My basket ball coach found out I have an anime profile pic and kicked me off the team. I tried bringing this to court but the judge just laughed at me.
The coach says “you’ve never beaten me” to the other coach but earlier he says that the three pointer will force a game 7. If he’s never lost to that coach, how can he force a game 7?
Personally I don't get why people assume a person with a rainbow towel means they are automatically gay. It could have just as easily meant he supports gay rights or that just has that towel in that color
@@coletrainhetrick That's like saying you don't know why people assume that someone with a swastika tattoo was a nazi symbol instead of a peace sign that was used for centuries. It's because the rainbow has been associated with the LGBT for almost half of a century now.
@@user-in1gv1uh2v no its fucking not. Shut the actual fuck up. You're comparing a swastika to a fucking rainbow. A rainbow actually exists outside of the symbol. If I got some kiddie rainbow stickers, thst doesn't make me pro lgbtq automatically. This is not a discussion, it's fucking insanity. So in other words you are basically claiming the lgbt are oppressors who claim rule to a real world object and will not allow people associate a rainbow as anything other than support for them, good job numb nuts.
@@coletrainhetrick You missed my point entirely. I never said the LGBT are oppressors that won't allow people to associate the rainbow with anything except their cause. I'm saying that like the swastika with the Nazi's, the rainbow/pride flag has become synonymous with the LGBT. "If I got some kiddie rainbow stickers, that doesn't make me pro lgbtq automatically." No shit. I'm not talking about kiddie stickers, I'm talking about the pride flag. For fucks sake the guy had a towel of the pride flag, if it was a rainbow sticker, your point would actually have merit.
I know it's pointless to try and make sense of a Dhar Mann video, but wouldn't it actually be prohibited for a player to switch teams? Because then the player would know all the other teams plays and what not
Your explanation makes sense to me, but I have a hard time believing that Dharr didn't research that before putting it in. Hm maybe someone who is hetero can answer that, unfortunately I'm gay and therefore can't play or know about sport rules.
@@blAckg0D he never does research. I’m one vid, there was a flashback which took place in the 80’s and there is the main character using a frickin iPhone”
I would be pissed if I was on the red team, Liam shows up and takes one shot. Then the coach is saying they won because of how good he was shooting today. Also a better lived to regret it would be the coach and school getting the sued, him getting fired, no one wants to hire him again, he becomes homeless.
The coach says if they win they go to game 7, but later says to the other coach that he never beat him? How did they just play a game 6 in a series then?
22:25 I love how Dhar Mann didn't even bother to think of names for the basketball teams it's just the red team and the blue team like it's a halo game
When the kid said "How would you know?" To the nice coach, I was expecting the reveal to be "because I'M gay." But that would require way more braincells than what Dhar Mann Fam is capable of. A decent twist in MY story? No. If it can't be spoiled in the title, it doesn't belong on my channel.
"It's all thanks to Liam!" Wouldn't you be so pissed if you were one of the other teammates and all the thanks go to the guy that shows up at the very end. The messages in these videos are always so bad too. Coach only regrets being homophobic because the gay guy becomes successful. Not because he realises he was wrong to discriminate against him. Title should be coach regrets losing a game of basketball.
"Gay cannot play" *secs ago, just helped win the game and knows his skills before finding out* Usually Dhar Mann waits bit for the SURPRISE but we just find out in the instant. All i know is i cant wait when Dhar Mann does a furry video for his new fam, Adum~
He plays sports good, the school would fire the coach and give the kid the coach's office to play sports good Edit: There are 100% rules that say he can't play, but Dhar Mann doesn't give a fuck about any profession except 'being Dhar Mann' Edit 2: "WE'VE NEVER LOST TO THESE CLOWNS!". You are in game 7 of a 'championship'. You have already lost to them 3 times.
Had this sort of scenario actually happened, then you know for a fact that the coach would've been fired from his job, blacklisted from other schools, and doxxed as a result of this.
Homophobe Coach : "We have never lost to these clowns..." Same coach earlier in the video : "You make this shot, we're going to game seven and the championship..." My guy... yall lost to these clowns 3 times already.
I like how when at 22:00 Dhar narrates the comeback of red team, the red team player literally travels (holding the ball while walking) violating the rules of the game. Actually, if the player made the shot, the ref's failure to call them out literally caused red to win the game which means that Liam wouldn't have had enough time to save the game and not only would've been an asshole, but also the reason they lost.
I could write a long diatribe about how the sports plot makes absolutely zero sense but that would require more effort than Dhar Mann puts into his videos.
@@merridius2006 I mean, at the same time you gotta realize that his demographic is to a younger audience, and it can steer this impressional demographic in the right way. Keep in mind that homophobia is generalized in a lot of households, so if anything this is a really good message, regardless of its flaws.
I've been extremely proud to have every time I mention Dharr Mann in conversations that when they know him they also think he's terrible ... still dreading the time to come when someone actually thinks they are good.
"Lives to regret it" makes me think I'm going to see the kid going full first blood on the coach, killing off all of his team in extravagant yet gruesome ways and in the end telling the coach something along the line of "I want you to remember who did this to you".
Ah yes, as a gay person I always bring a gay flag with me and whip it around so people I know how gay I am. Everything I own is rainbow and I cannot go 2 seconds without reminding people of my raging homosexuality.
@@brunobucciaratiswife both is okay, If people want to go full rainbow bride let them. Sounds like you hide your gayness not because of loud & out there gays, but because of people who give them shit for it. In this scenario I was pleasently surprised that Dharr choose this way to tell the viewer that the kid is gay, he could have gone full stereotype.
@@blAckg0D I just don’t think that someone’s sexuality should be their only personality trait. not saying that’s what happened in the video, but I’ve known so many people who’s only personality trait is being gay.
@MeeMoshi being one note is annoying no matter what it is, I get what you are saying. I just wanted to say to whoever is reading this: don't edit yourself to be more heteronormative so the heteros will like you. Not saying you do that, but gay people basically saying "oh I'm not like those loud annoying gays, I'm a good gay" is also very common and often rooted in a self hate that we all more or less have by growing up in a homophobic world.
