Join me for the 28-day Head to Toe yoga challenge! Beginning February 1st, we'll be working our way down the body from head to toe with a new daily yoga practice that only takes between 5-10 minutes each day. DAY 4: Ah, thank you, Joelle~!!! Once again you introduced a couple new postures/moves (I call them "body workings"). These are great, and the session was refreshing from "head to toe." My shoulders, however, are most grateful! We all send you thanks! :-)))))

After just finishing an exercise routine focusing on the back and shoulders, this was PERFECT! These short daily practices fly by in the blink of an eye! This was fun! I have been working on my shoulder strength recently, but I noticed a difference between left and right side, especially when doing the pushups. I broke my collarbone when I was younger so my left shoulder is a bit wonky 😄 but it works fine!

This was difficult. My shoulders don't have a lot of movement, especially my right which has had arthritis for over 20 years (since my mid 20s). I particularly find resting on my forearms difficult. Is forearm plank supposed to be harder than normal plank (which I much prefer)?

Hi Katrina, forearm plank is definitely tougher for those of us with tight shoulders! It's because there's a shorter "lever" between the floor and the shoulder, meaning the shoulders don't have as much opportunity to "cheat." You might like to try bringing the thumbs in towards each other, or even placing the palm of one hand over the back of the other. Having the hands closer together while keeping the elbows in the same place lessens the demand of external shoulder rotation - hope that helps!
