Freemium garbage, highly monetized, buggy, charge you for each world, each skin, size of your world prob, missing aspects in survival unless you pay, always online definitely.. I can see it all now. It sucks because i was so excited, but tencent owned? Ill just go play modded minecraft because this will be trash.

The Hytale Devs clearly underestimated how many times we've tried to jump a gap, fell short and ended up just missing getting our feet on the opposite ledge's floor, and been frustrated at our Characters for seemingly being too stupid to ever think of the possible idea of trying out grabbing the damn ledge and pulling ourselves up it when it's such a easily logical thing TO think of. It can feel like a comparable form of stupidity to watching Characters get completely utterly defeated by supposed "Insurmountable Waist High Fence", TVTrope style... -_-
That 'Gecko' sure has a pretty fat Tail for a Gecko... Hard not to wonder if the fatness of that Tail will serve an interesting purpose RL Geckos don't get to do with it...?
I live in fear of people trying to destroy Hytale's potential the way they did Starbound's potential. I beg of ya Devs, please stay strong. Please don't let Hytale end up like a stupid green supposedly perfectly generic whatever...
It's funny Hytale has a 'Burn Kweebecs' stage goin on, and Terraria's had a 'Preserve vs Chop Trees' stage in it. Here's to hopin we can defend Kweebecs here cause they'd find no safety if they tried to run and hide in Terraria... they'd have to fear the wrath of CenAxe there... :P
This is among the most decisive Updates Minecraft ever had... it was the Update that gave us Legit Renewable Lava, and by extension Legit Renewable Obsidian to middle finger Creepers with.
How something is used can tend to be more important than what an Element's Nature is. Fire by its very nature consumes, painfully... yet plenty of Heroes prove that Fire can be kept under control and used with discipline. Light is often seen as a Force of Good, but there's Realms out there that prove that Light is not incapable of being used for ill purposes, and sometimes the TVTrope "Light is not Good" is seen to be Invoked. Another example of 'how it's used is more important'... Healing Magic. Healing Magic is often seen as a benevolent power, but some Realms, one can see Bad Guys capable of using it to help their own selves be evil and get away with it more and somehow that Healing Magic is blind to the greed motivation behind its usage. There's a very real possibility that the Void Magic in Hytale can only be evil, but it's too soon to be sure. It is still theoretically possible that Void Magic usability for Good is not outta question, but might have a seriously freakin scary high skill level and discipline power needed to keep Void's power under control and not allow it to control its Wielder... but 'Dark Powers' being possible to use for good is not unheard of. One instance I can recall is the game Shining Force Neo. Its Main Character, "Max", encounters the chance to use Shadow Power partway through the game and can eventually prove it CAN be used for good, and that power can come in handy against Baddies weak to that Element.
Minecraft totally coulda done more with Copper. I've always been annoyed at how fragile Redstone Dust Lines are and how easily one can have accidents with them. Copper coulda acted like a Upgraded Form of that with much more resilience and accident safety... then it coulda gone a step farther and eventually had a interesting Recipe that coulda combined Copper and Redstone Dust together into a sorta Super Transmission Wire of some kinda that outperformed both individually and still had that superior Accident Resistance... for example buffing the Max Signal Transmission Range to 20 - 25 Blocks via superior signal degradation resistance.
Emissive Glowies can be fun. :) Also if there was gonna be a flowery cow option, it really woulda did itself a favor and stood more of a chance if it had embraced ALL Flowers, not just the stupid little yellow ones. I woulda been much more embracing of a Cornflower Cow and Blue Orchid Cow for example... whereas I tend to just disregard Daffodil and Dandelion's existence so woulda promptly disregarded a Cow embracing those. ;)
Hell yeah to the Fuma Shuriken, I agree with Mosshorn awesomeness and it'd be cool to be able to tame them and get useful work outta them ranging from Minecraft Mule-like to maybe ability to Oxen-like pull Cart for ya to maybe even Base Defense aid, and i'm torn between "Hytalian" (I love Legend of Zelda Series too!) vs "Hytaler" (Sounds Punny!) vs "Hyventurer". (Sounds cool!)
On the Real Critter side, Hummingbirds are always adorable, Ravens might be interesting (Could be funny exploring a Forest and encountering a humorous 3 Stooges like fight between a Murder of Crows and a Flock of Ravens...), Tree Frogs to go with the ones in the Swamp, Road Runners could be fun... heck, maybe even a Secret Dodo Bird area? On the Fantasy Critter side, my fav Fantasy Creature of all is Lightning Dragons... :D Unicorns, Phoenixes tend to be fun as well, wouldn't say no to Mermaids, i'm a fan of Dwarves... evil thought: Parody of D&D Half Orcs and Half Trolls... "Half Trorc"...?
I wish there was more contrast, lighting wise and color wise. It feels lifeless right now. Hopefully it'll get better in the future. Also, the gameplay where its snowing and the player is going down into a cave looks really bad.
7:30 I can imagine all the memes after that update: Strongest Minecraft update: Tricky trails update (new structure and 2 new mobs) Weakest Hytale update: *the cataclysm* (new zone, 20 new enemies, lots of new biomes, items dungeons etc.)
I remember being so hyped for this game 6 years ago, I forgot about it. Prob not gonna play it, it looks like a Minecraft that I have been waiting for 6 years for it to come oit
Whatever makes the most logistical sense is what they should do. They've already been rebuilding their entire engine, which is always going to be a monumental task - which is effectively why we've got an entire industry making engines that they license to developers now, instead of every engine being created in-house as was the case a couple of decades ago. Then they've got to program who knows how many systems after they've done that, which never goes to plan and it sounds like this could be relatively complex, so you can absolutely expect further delays. The art assets are the least worrying part of this project. Pretty models and lighting are nice, but if there's nothing else there, then it's a pointless exercise - much as most gamers tend to see development as 'make shiny visuals and then tell them to do cool stuff'. All the 'cool stuff' is going to be the meat of the work. If they only have enough budget and time to nail down the first three zones, then it's better to at least release a product than to stretch the team thin across double the amount of work. Reading between the lines, I imagine that there's a significant amount of work going on in the background. From a business perspective: If this project makes it out of development in any form, without being cancelled, I'll be impressed.
