We have a few questions.... 1) We got one auto comb that doesn't spin well. We got one that does. Do we need a repair kit? Or are all the parts we need in the box? 2) We ordered an Autocomb for one of our new shops that has a LM KB90... The Autocomb doesn't fit on that portafilter.... Thoughts? PS... We are LOVING this device in two of our cafes! Can't wait to figure out a fix for the KB90! Hope to hear back soon! J
We really love this tool! We can't wait to use it the way y'all intended, but even with how it operates today it does an amazing job of keeping our shots pulling very, very consistently. You all are setting a high standard for customer service.
@@minimax262 yes but it's not that different. What power users have found is that they use the hand holding the autocomb to do all of the downwards and twisting movements, then just use the thumb to gently hold in place. ie the thumb never moves side to side. (Does that make sense?)
@@barista_hustle I think I follow. However, I still believe that it would feel more natural to hold the knob in place by pushing it sideways as shown here 0:39, rather than pushing it down. Now that’s all me speculating. I hope to get a chance to try it out for myself at some point in time. It’s definitely a very interesting device.
Problem I find with these combers that sit on the basket is when you remove them the fluffed grinds usually overflow the basket and it’s messy to get them tamped. You can even clearly see this in the video here.
I think It actually should be 500 particle and 250micron radius, becouse when sifting particles 250-500 microns there where also particles with 500microns diameter, and it was fully extracted. Am I thinking corectly?
Does this work with a naked portafilter (i.e., no spouts)? It's not clear that you can place the autocomb + (naked) portafiler on the counter? You'd have to hold it aloft? I do not have effective use of one arm, so...
Thx Matt Purger for this great tools Purger Tamper / Cupping Bowl / AutoComb Its critical & essential tools that makes great espresso achievable every day Excellent Effort - Barista Hustle 🎉
Well in places where speed and consistency are needed this is a no brainer. From a business standpoint makes your product consitent and fast without sacrificing quality. But for home i agree the market would be smaller.
@@m.andre824 Haha no way cafes will use this bulky shit. These WDT tools are mainly for domestic uses. I have never seen specialty cafes doing wdt or using any other distribution tools due to high volumes. It takes way too much time and you can't spend time like that on a single order. Every extra minutes matter in the cafe especially during the rush. That's why fewer and fewer specialty cafes now even offer pour-overs on their menu. Even then, I would not use this even for home set up as it looks super ugly, way bulky and needs too much hassle. I would rather use regular WDT, Moonraker or other cheaper 3d printed ones.
I was all excited after watching this, so I went to make a pourover, i made it one click finer and decided to use about 30g less water. it tasted like burnt rubber and pennies, what the hell happened?
@@deathkid411If you have access to a 3d printer you can check out the umikot on printables. It's also 58mm only but I'm currently working out the last few problems with the 49mm version for my pre mil Pavoni.
Hi! I’ve been wondering in the table of the numbers that indicate the depth of water into the grounds, how did you actually get those numbers? Still a bit confused about how you got the number “100 microns”.. thanks!
He assumes that 200micron particle can be extracted fully, so water is able to penetrate radius of this particle. I think It actually should be 500 particle and 250micron radius, becouse when sifting particles 250-500 microns there where also particles with 500microns diameter, and it was fully extracted.
great design, robust and fast. If you incorporated spirographic movement like the moonraker, this would be perfect cafe tool given it's speed and durability.
From all the footage it looks like this product only works on double spouted PFs that sit on the counter because of the long legs that wrap around the PF. This wouldn’t really work on a naked/bottomless PF because you would have to sit that in a PF holder/stand and the legs on the Autocomb would be obstructed. Can you confirm this?
@@HuibNederhofthere was another youtube video of a south korean doing a review. it works with a naked PF but you have to hold the PF in the air. if you sit it on the counter the legs of the autocomb are longer than the naked PF. kind of ruins the workflow for anyone using a naked PF with a tamping station/stand because the legs of the autocomb will surely bump into that too. not sure how i feel about doing wdt while holding the PF in the air. i can see why this is meant for cafe environment where they typically use double spout PF.
It looks so cool, but what if we set this gadget as stationary and just put the portafilter from the bottom of it(like auto tamper) and another hand just spins it so it would be faster. Decrease the time to pick it up and take it away.
@@barista_hustle Website says it currently does NOT fit the Weber Unifilter, but you're working on it for v2, If I pre-ordered which version will be shipped, v2 or v1?
i refered to their web. i took Baking soda: 0.067488 g and Epsom salts: 0.197715 g and mixed it into 1 liter water. it is easier if you mix into 10 or 20 liter water. just multiplied those numbers with your water amount
