You could experiment - But because the attraction of the pigmen to you is based on distance, it may not be worth adding additional platform - as the pigmen might end up too far away.
Hey, I play in older versions of Minecraft as a "progressively updating" world and I have built this farm 2 times in different worlds. And I just wanted to say that this farm is amazing. It's a little hard to build in survival (the drop shoots) but other than that its great. Also idk if its just me but both times I've built this farm I have ended up 1 block closer to the centre than I should. Idk if that is just my circles or If I did something wrong but I've always found a way around it. Anyway great farm.
Well maybe it worked before 1.20, but rn, it doesn't really does its job. It makes moss alright but the bone meal production is not efficient enough to sustain the farm. It might work by shortening the delay between each push of the pistons but when I tried it made cobblestone and broke the farm. EDIT : Tried shortening the clock. It also shortens the delay between each bone-mealing of the moss, which makes it faster but doesn't help with sustainability. I'll try other things. EDIT 2 : I tried shortening the delay by linking the pistons to both sides of the clock. It made th farm more efficient but not sustainable. So I tried making the farm 5 in width instead of 3. It's now somehow worse. EDIT 3 : linked the underneath composter with the machine. It's now almost self sustainable. Still not there tho.
It was tested today for an hour on 1.20.2 and works as described. You can try it for yourself from our official world download snocrash.com/worlds/2023-10-22_13-54-32_Snocrash%20Moss%20block%20farm.zip
Which version of Minecraft are you running this on? I built it on my 1.18 Skyblock world. I started it with 3 stacks of bonemeal (and fed the output back into the dispenser). After an hour, I had 1 stack of bonemeal left.
It's been tested on 1.17 through to 1.20.2 vanilla minecraft @@stevenjeffries7951 - You can try the official world download from here: snocrash.com/worlds/2023-10-22_13-54-32_Snocrash%20Moss%20block%20farm.zip
Thank you endlessly for this! I am using it to collect torchflower seeds and pitcher pods from sniffers! I have been trying to learn how to do this for YEARS. You made it so easy! Also, how does the comparator help in this??? (I know like, nothing about redsone)
A comparator is special in that it can detect whether a block next to it, which has an inventory, has any items in that inventory. So in this case the comparator checks whether the Hopper has anything in it - which it does when it sucks out an item the moment the minecart arrives. So the steps are: Minecart arrives, Hopper starts pulling items, the comparator sees there's items in the hopper and generates a signal which loops around and turns off the rail which holds the Minecart in place until all the items a processed. And then the rail turns back on.
The biggest difficulty I am having with this farm is that quite a few servers change the timing of hoppers and with the pattern of them unlocking and relocking the hopper chain, the item inside doesn't move. Is there a way to get around this or an alternative clock that doesn't use hoppers?
So if you throw them in the garbage and they go to the dump, do you really think there are people digging in the garbage looking for old hard drives and spending a ton of time using exotic recovery methods to try and recover old credit card numbers that have expired decades ago?
I think explanation is weird and maybe needs a system to split bone meal half to a chest and half to the dispenser. Yet can't argue on how small an well is working on my vanilla minecraft world
I'm about to make this farm on my survival world so i made a quick list of things to have everything ready to build, it might not be perfect since i was just adding things up as they got mentioned but hope it helps. - bunch a glass - 5 repeaters - 7 comparators - 4 pistons - 2 sticky pistons - wood for fence and trapdoors - 4 moss blocks - 30 ish solid blocks - 1 lava - 1 dispenser - 7 redstone torch - 26 redstone dust - 2 observers - 24 hoppers - 1 composter - 1 stack Bonemeal to get the farm started - 1 sign - 5 chests - 1 lever

@snocrash. I think I’ve broke the map. Upon starting the game, got some resources together. Went out looking for second chunk and came across 2 villages. All the buildings and some villagers but no floor. I’ve played it from the download and changed only the chunk view rate. No cheats. Have you come across this or has anyone else??
Yes, I have seen this - with some newer versions of MInecraft the game appears to turn back on the generation of "structures'... like villages. Within the next day I'll put up a revised map save-game which fixes this problem. Thanks for letting me know!
@Snocrash no probs. I total love your map and try my best to watch any new contents. If you do a video regarding this then if possible a mention would be brill. I’m from UK and play in any spare time I have. Cheers. .
@@jerrymccallum9717 New game world for current version, 1.19.3 is up on the snocrash.com website.. should fix the problem , here's the direct link snocrash.com/worlds/HermitChunkChallenge-PubRelease-1-19-3.zip
For a mapartist who wants to play on older servers this is quite helpful, the dispenser sheering you see in modern farms doesn't work in 1.12 and thus you can't really afk fully, though this design is quite a good one and stands out from the rest of tutorials, great video!
Even now, 7 years later, this is still useful! I built a 1.19 Java fishing farm designed by Rays Works, but, even with his additional latency "fix" for servers, it'd fail, sometimes very quickly. I just attached this, instead, so now, the farm has a reset every five minutes, regardless... so I can AFK at the farm indefinitely, and if it fails, it won't fail for long!
