i feel like there should be mod for game play like this...for when their mad at each other...like if they try to flirt with them they could like crush the rose or like slap their hand away when they try to kiss it....I would so use that
This was a really emotional game but honestly I prefer saving chole, I can't deal with the fact you technically never even meet her again if you go back.
Aw, wish Clare and Ali had kept Conrad alive. Would've loved to see how the rest of the game would've went. There's no one else I would want to watch it from lol
Its interesting seeing Marlene talking to Abby's dad in the beginning, (12:43 ish) they're talking about having to kill Ellie for the "potential" cure (not guaranteed) and she asks him "what if it was YOUR daughter you had to kill, would you really be so ready to kill her then?" And he couldn't answer, because deep down I think the answer is no. I've said this on previous videos too. But everyone is so quick to jump for the potential vaccine, which isn't even a 100% guarantee that it will work anyway that imo they kind of lose sight of the reality, they're killing a young girl, and no-one is actually giving her any real free choice. She's being forced to give up her life for the cause but it's never really her choice, she's been told that's what's going to happen, which is quite sad. Joel is basically the only person who actually cares about her having a free choice and I think that's part of the reason he saves her at the end of the first game. The other part being he grew attached to her, saw her almost like a daughter/she reminds him of his daughter he lost and he couldn't bear to lose another person he cared for. But I honestly can't fault Joel for wanting Ellie to be able to at least live to adulthood and make a rational decision that is genuinely HER decision, not everyone else's. Pretty much everyone else around her (especially in the first game, not as much in the second), except for Joel no-one else really cares about her as a person they only care about the "cure", to the point where it's like they don't see her as a human being and they're not thinking about things from the perspective of "we have to kill this young girl" they're only focused on the cure and trying to do anything to get it. I totally get if this was real, you'd be desperate for a cure, I get that. But if you were the one having to make the sacrifice would you? If you were the one sacrificing someone you loved, would you? What if it was your daughter? Would you really be so gung ho to be like "yep lets kill her, hurry up!".... I know I personally wouldn't.
My personal take on the end of the first game and the flashback scene around 1:50:00 ish in where Joel tells Ellie why he saved her instead of letting her die. I said this in a comment on a previous video too so i'll try summarise this time because i've already said it. IMO, this isn't 100% confirmed via anything in game but as far as I could tell, the potential vaccine, the potential "cure", was never guaranteed. What happens if Ellie goes through all that, sacrificed her life, when she was so young too, and then it didn't work? What then? They're back to square one and her death would be completely meaningless and for nothing. So that's one thing. But also, throughout playing the first game, I always got the impression that it wasn't really ever Ellie's decision. She was being forced and influenced by everyone around her and constantly being fed this idea that there was no other option and that she HAD to die and she HAD to give her life for the cause but it wasn't ever really a free choice. Personally I just think that's so unfair. It's so easy for everyone else around her to be so gung ho about it and be ready to kill her for this cure and they're all desperate for it but along the way, at least to me, people became so focused on this "cure" and doing anything to get it that apart from Joel, no-one stopped to really think about the fact that this was a young girls life, Ellie is a person, not a lab experiment! I felt like people kinda lost their humanity a bit, which is ironic. Aside from Joel it always seemed like no-one actually cared about Ellie at all and didn't even see her as a person, they only saw her as a cure, it's like they got extreme tunnel vision and that's all anyone cared about, they didn't stop to think at all they just wanted her dead, and that's pretty sad. I can definately understand where Joel was coming from when he saved her. For whatever his reasons were, I think part of his reasoning, was that he believed Ellie deserved to grow and mature and be able to make a choice one day that was actually her own choice not everyone else's. Of course he doesn't say this, this is my personal speculation and it's just one tiny part of a bigger picture. I think ultimately he'd dealt with so much loss he couldn't bare to let her go and I think that's honestly valid. He shouldn't of lied to her, but I get why he did. I think if he had of told her the truth and explained he just wanted her to be able to at least grow into an adult and mature and be able to actually make a free choice as opposed to being forced, I think she would of understood where he was coming from. She probably would of still been mad but I think she'd be less mad than finding out that he just lied to her. This is just my personal take and my personal interpretation though.
also, I know im just commenting constantly lmao sorry. When they were in the dinosaur museum and joel says the dinosaur skull looks like Tommy. I laughed. Because if I was in a dinosaur museum I would find the weirdest looking skull or creature I could find and say it looks like my brother. I think that's a sibling thing, doing a little tease. Glad to know that being a full grown adult man Joel hasn't grown out of this universal experience everyone has with their siblings ahahahah!
Also just want to clarify for anyone who's confused esp if you didn't play the first game. Clare says that Ellie could of infected Dina, but that's not true. Ellie is immune but she also can't pass the virus on either, it's explained in the first game. Dina (or anyone else except Ellie) can however be infected by either being bitten by a regular infected or one of the bigger enemies, or by breathing in spores hence the masks, but Ellie can't. If they bite Ellie or she breaths in spores, it does nothing.
First watched this years ago. Now i've come back after finally getting to play the first game, still waiting to be able to buy a playstation so I can play part 2. One thing I didn't notice much the first time watching but I keep noticing now and it stresses me out is you always miss so much loot! You just, walk right past it and don't even check! It drives me insane to watch how much extra stuff you could of had and how many collectibles and stuff you miss because you're not looting properly. But. It's okay. It's just a game and i'm glad you still had fun playing that's the main thing :)
This last episode had me legit crying 😭 They are making a third Last of Us! It probably won't come out until years later. I usually don't watch any other video games besides sims and I definitely don't play anything else (besides Doki Doki Literatuire Club, which took me forever to complete because I didn't want to make anyone mad by choosing one girl. I let out a breath of relief when the horror part started lol!). It's a real testament that Clare can get me invested in watching other games to a point where I cry and actually consider playing it myself! So thank you, Clare, for making other video games interesting and not anxiety inducing to watch!
I don’t know if I have Toasties but I’ve never tried one before but I have made my own I guess with a casa and cheese because I never like Cook it but thanks for the notice of that I haven’t tried it before if you my country is Canada so I might I definitely have it and I will be So funny😂 but like that’s makes me sad because I never tried it😢😅
Oof the scenes with Sean and Karen are rough. In a weird way I can somewhat see Karen’s pov, but it doesn’t excuse her. Yes some people are not cut out to be parents, yes some people shouldn’t be parents, this is a classic example of that. But at the same time, she’s selfish! She knew she wasn’t cut out for motherhood, and she went on to have a second child and that’s even worse. I could understand falling pregnant accidentally and coming to that realisation but having to suck it up because it’s done, but going on to get pregnant and go through with it a second time is just plain selfish. I don’t know how old Karen is meant to be or how old she was when she had Sean, I would assume young but idk I assume she was at least probably in her early 20’s? It’s young but it’s not THAT young, like a person should be mature enough to know what they’re doing. That means she would have been in her late 20’s when she had Daniel, that’s more than mature and adult enough to know better and do better, so yeah, she’s selfish. You chose to have children, you can’t just turn around and act like they don’t exist and decide to just duck out of all responsibility.
Me the entire time while clare is too obsessed with the things in the chests and not her dying and having to restart: "CLARE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! WHAT?! STOP CLARE-"
I’m hoping Clare comes back soon, I don’t know if she’s coming back at all! But everybody deserves a break and time to live their life, miss you sm Clare ❤❤
So based on Travis’ story he tells to Laura and Ryan. Silas “the wolf boy” was locked in a cage and his mother used him as a sideshow attraction for monetary gain, which is kinda horrible tbh. But also he would of been locked in the cage for safety too. Caleb and Kaylee saw this and felt sorry for Silas and wanted to set him free, just trying to do the right thing or what they felt was the right thing, but in the process they started the fire, it got out of control as fires do, destroying everything, which was probably more than they bargained for and more than they meant to do, but they were kids and didn’t realise it would cause that much damage and kill so many people. (Remember we see the fire article in the newspaper) they did save/free silas but caleb got bitten by accident in the process. Travis is obviously trying to stop the line by killing the original wolf (which is Silas) and has been hunting him for 6 years because he’s trying to save his family. Silas is witch mommy’s son and i’m kinda, torn on her. She claims she loves her son and was trying to give him the best life possible and protect him, and being a “freak” she was probably trying to work with what she had. Maybe Silas being the original wolf couldn’t be cured? He was cursed from birth perhaps? I don’t know how the lore works with that. She knew he would never have a normal life so she figured if she played into it and made it into a sideshow she could make a living. But when Caleb and Kaylee came along they felt sorry for him being trapped in a cage, thought he deserved better and tried to help him. They couldn’t have known it would lead to all the chaos, it’s not their fault.
The game makes it a little confusing but to clarify. If you kill the werewolf who turned you, it cures you yes, but it doesn't break the entire curse. If you kill the ORIGINAL werewolf that started the line, it cures the curse for THE WHOLE LINE not just one person. To break EVERYONE free from the curse you have to kill the FIRST/ORIGINAL wolf, which is Silas, the white wolf. If you only killed the wolf who turned you, it wouldn't break the curse for the entire line, that's what they're trying to do, break the entire curse. Hopefully if anyone is confused, that clears it up. So that's why every month they (the hackett family) are out there hunting the white wolf but it must be hard to find and hard to kill if they have been hunting the white wolf for YEARS with no luck in an attempt to break the curse on their family. But while doing so they are also trying to PROTECT, Chris, and themselves because they don't want to get bitten and turn themselves but they are also obviously trying to free Chris and not kill him, and they also were trying to protect the kids because they didn't want them to die, this included CALEB and Kaylee hackett, (caleb was turned, they're trying to protect and cure him) but Travis and bobby are also trying to protect the camp counsellor kids who were meant to leave but didn't in time bc the car issues (in the first episode) and also protect laura and try to save max who also got turned. Hopefully that made sense and clears up confusion for anyone.
ALSO. If someone only wanted to cure THEMSELVES they have to be the one to kill the wolf that turned them, so they have to kill the correct wolf in order to be cured. BUT if the white wolf is killed, who started the line, not only does it cure everyone but it DOESN'T MATTER who kills it, just that it's killed. This ONLY applies to the white wolf. This is why they were all collectively hunting the white wolf together earlier in the game, the more people hunting it the better the chances and it didn't matter who killed it, just that it got killed.
Re-watching this stream (seen it before) and actually just finished watching a playthrough done by the cast of the game, which was cool! It was interesting hearing their experiences behind the scenes etc of making the game and in one of the streams they had a Ted Raimi cameo! (The cop at the start of the game is played by Ted) And at the part where he's showing the place on the map and he licks the pencil, I wanted to share with ya'll what that's about for anyone who doesn't know. Ted talked about that moment and explained it. Apparently back in the day, old pencils weren't made the same as they are now and the graphite used to get dry and not work properly, and so you would have to wet it to "activate" it and make it work, and so people would lick the tip of the pencil first, and that's why he does it. I thought that was interesting and a little fun fact! If anyone wants to watch the cast playthrough it was pretty cool, they didn't have every single cast member it was only 4 of them and one episode had Ted joined for about half the stream BUT I will warn ya'll they never finished the game together so it's been left and not continued, so if you haven't seen all of Clare's playthrough, watch it first. Cast playthrough you can find search "Computer time with miles" on youtube and it will come up :) It featured Miles who plays Dylan, Siobhan who plays Laura (the girl from the start), Zack who plays Jacob the jock guy and Justice who plays Ryan the moody counsellor dude. There's alot of banter between them and it's pretty funny but I'll warn ya'll it's not as "family friendly" as Clare's streams and there's a bit more swearing and such, but you should all watch the streams because they're really funny
I turn southern on certain words, phrases, okay- maybe I’m like 90% southern on everything BUT I am very embarrassed when it happens even tho I live in a very country state 😭 my school is in a literal valley and my friends tease me for it since I’m usually not country sounding on technical and engineering talk
