Would the body turn be at same time of wrist turn or does wrist turn start with body still and body turns as wrist is finishing its turn?
@HakuShounen

I watched this video a few weeks ago and have been practicing and trying to implement this approach in my swing. I even do a wrist turn or two as a cue as the pitcher starts to go into their windup. I feel like it's really been helping so wanted to come back and say thanks for making such a useful and easy to follow video!

I'm a Griffey guy. I think arms closer to the body at contact will produce the most power and consistency. Here's a brief analysis of little leaguer Reece Roussell whose mechanics are very close to those of Griffey. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tKE-Z6HMVSc.html

It took me three years of studying the swing to learn what this video teaches in 7 minutes… incredible video, terrific progression, and very insightful observation: the arms are just the scaffolding, and extend via the momentum from the snap. Really, brilliant video. Nicely done!

The Gentleman is correct but hasn’t explained why. The reason the tilt happens is because of the lats and how they attach to our skeleton and their function. The lats assist in lateral flexion or side bending. When rear hip turns in it pulls lower lat because of attachment and that pulling brings rear arm down because lats insert on the humerus or upper arm bone. It is also causing rearward tilt which establishes plane and barrel depth. When upper arm goes back to load and rear hip goes forward it causes stretching of lats which provides snap and quickness to swing

It’s hip load not quad load, don’t twist the quad, you load the hip to help create stretch in the torso, not to drive out of the lower body
@gftempleton

How does this work when loading up and the lead elbow is straight? For example, just before swinging, all power hitters have a straight lead elbow: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V4wUCPpJ3tw.html
@HiProHitting
@HiProHitting 4 года назад
Whether the lead arm is straight or slightly bent, you still want to align the barrel so that it becomes an extension of the lead arm. Essentially, the wrist works as a “second elbow” and unhinges on the same plane as your actual elbow. This holds true even of the arm is barred or straight.

Great information, thanks for the video. When you mentioned a tight/connected turn what type of cue would you suggest for a player struggling with initiating a deep barrel turn? What are your thoughts on the concept or feel of turning the knob up to initiate a deep and early barrel turn by getting into palm up/palm down early? Thanks for a great video!

@@steveisrael9825 my son is 14 and has struggled with this!! Three things really really solidified him correcting this and leveling pitches. Trust me. The kid has always made contact but typically weak ground balls, until he got stronger, and weak pop ups with the occasional solid hard contact. 1. Go buy a camwood bat. It has weight by the hands and helps establish hands in. Do not have him swing the bat as if he’s controlling the power. Tell him to let the bat do what it’s designed to do. Because if he doesn’t he won’t strike the ball with any type of power or solid contact. Once you allow the bat to work the hands in the correct path (taking the handle directly passed the ball on the inside and point the barrel of the bat towards the pitcher DONT LET IT SWING BACK BEHIND JUST YET) you will strike the ball with SOLID contact. 2. Have him swing in slow motion. Where the hands stay connected to the shoulder/body. They don’t have to touch the shoulder or body. It’s an imaginary connection. Should stay connected through the rotation until you take the barrel to the ball( think quick hands) Top hand should be even with armpit and relax the back arm instead of holding it up. That causes tension. Think Barry bonds back elbow. 3.Once he starts understanding how it functions take 5 swings. from there move to his game bat., next use a lighter bat, then the lightest ( think T ball bat) treat every bat like the cambat. Let the bats do what the cambat is designed to do with about 5 swings. Finish up with the cambat. 4. Repeat, but with soft toss. 5. Take a football or a ball and tuck it under his front arm. Have him swing and let the football drop while making contact with the baseball. If he does this correctly he should be lifting the baseball with solid shots. Also have him try it without releasing the football. That will create the awkward weak swing he does in game. Then go back to releasing the tucked football from front arm through swing. Use the cam wood bat and then his bat. The improvement should happen quickly. It will be very noticeable change. Feel free to email me jonathon75@hotmail.com with questions. I’m not a camwood bat rep or anything just a dad that enjoys working mechanics. I was a kinesiology major and approach mechanics of hitting and pitching from a different standpoint.I don’t charge or have a RU-vid channel. Just love the game and seeing a smile on the kids face. I just had a kid with the same problem that couldn’t hit the ball and if he did it wasn’t always solid. He went 3-3 yesterday and crushed a shot over the fence. 235 feet. He’s in the 7th grade.

Michael Camden the progression is mainly focused on isolating the hands and how they interact with the handle of the bat. Once you add some hip hinge, side bend, and extension it will really help you stay through balls to all fields.

What are your thoughts on playing subconsciously, and how would it benefit or detriment players?
@HiProHitting
@HiProHitting 4 года назад
I think there is a time for conscious and subconscious work. Working in front of a mirror or tee work can be spent in a more internally focused mindset, especially when a hitter is trying to make swing adjustments. Once the ball is moving (flips/bp) we should probably start to shift our mindset to be a little more subconscious. Of course, this depends on the hitter. Some guys need to be externally focused almost all the time, even in the cage. Others may be a little more analytical even in ball flight work. Game time is definitely a time to be very subconscious, it's time to compete, time to react not think.

Idk, when I was in high school I didn’t have people breaking down the swing like this for me. To me, rolling my hands thru contact seemed obvious for faster bat speed and hitting the ball harder, and It worked very well. This just looks stiff, and hitting is all about fluidity. But idk maybe you’ll see my videos and say I’m doing the exact same thing you are lol
@VicInNocal
@VicInNocal Год назад
@@HBK360MUSIC It's an interesting debate, because I feel like ur right, that when the swing is more whip-like with the arms and wrists, it feels as if you whip it faster across the zone. However, I feel like it leads to more inconsistency unless you get the timing just perfectly right. Techniques like the one in this video I feel allow you to square the ball up through the zone with more consistency, and really squaring the ball up and hitting it with the sweet spot of the bat is the #1 factor to successful hitting -you don't even have to hit the ball that hard if you square it up and hit it with the fat part of the barrel of the bat, hell you could probably stand on one leg and still hit a smoking line drive as long as you sweet spot the ball.

HiMy son 8th grade good size kid, switched from the push swing to the deep barrel swing you are demonstrating. He had a good year. Everyone of the coaches up in the northeast, use the short to the ball and long through approach. Its tougher on him going into highschool, with a different swing. My question is his swing did become longer and should he focus in practice on keeping the bat closer to the shoulder and allowing the torso to turn ?

Something else I was wondering is how hitters back foot slides toward the third base dugout (if your a righty). I've seen this on miggy and trout. It doesn't seem like a very powerful move, but it allows them to hit the ball the other way, HOW DO THEY DO THAT? Perhaps that could be your next video?
