I passed my class 1 more than 10 years ago. But I went straight from other non driving jobs to class 1. My advice to anyone find a big major company that will be most likely self insured. It will help alot.
Reason you're being stopped more often at customs? You left the EU. Along with it's open border privileges. Now, a UK truck is just as much an outsider as a truck from Afghanistan. They're not being small-minded, just different rules apply to non-EU countries ....
I run 8 artics, and during covid, I was doing exceptionally well. At the moment, it's normal i have a day rate target as long as I reach that I am happy.
The poster here really should look at this: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6453c62f2f62220013a6a52d/categorisation-of-vehicle-defects.pdf Page 19, refer to notes 5 and 6. This should have been an inspection notice and not a prohibition. It is too late to challenge this now but you should keep a note if ever called by DVSA or OTC. @dceuropean
Love the converation on the immigrants and how to prevent them accessing. What do you do if and have ou come accross immigrants in your truck? Also couldnt watch 10 minites myself of just driving never mind 4 hoirs but each to their own :).
Jewz thats crazy money to get a truck licence. Ireland here for the last few years are doing 12 hours free lessons for the rigid and artic + 2 x 2 hour classroom lessons and 1 attempt at the test for free. Gota pay €144 to do the theory test and cpc. Waiting to start my lessons
Have you done podcasts yet pal could be well worth looking into. Even turn your video footage into mp3 format and uplaod to spotify coukd work wonders.
Just saw a big break to this video from previous ones. Looking forward to seeing all the future vlogs. Welder and fabricator for nearly a decade, sales for a decade before that and just starting my truck driving future as fabrication is wearing me down
Only started to follow you pal. Great incite into truck driving and the experiences you have. Starting from your oldest working to newest so have a lot ahead of me. Good luck with your journey pal - Will in Ireland.
Hi David love the channel. Just came across Trucker girl for the first time. She's pretty. Problem I checked out her truck and it says the MOT expired August 2023. Not a good look for DC European running trucks that don't have MOT.
Great video. Learning about this helps my decision into doing this myself. As I’ve been told ‘you won’t be a millionaire but you won’t be skint’ I’ve spoken to a lot of owner drivers and they’ve always been positive about the way of life. I’ve been driving class 1 for 23 years, just sick of working for a company. Now want to jump into the deep end and do it for myself. Great videos keep em coming
Love your truck vlogs so informative and helpful. I’m getting ready to book my class 1 training so really excited and hope I pass first time Fingers crossed. Thank you for your hard work on the channel
Just come back from a holiday in Chamonix, I was in a car travelling down that road from Les Houches to Saint-Gervais. A scary road, and I wasn't even driving. Take the train over that viaduct, it's even worse if you don't like heights.
Fantastic Boys. Great insight to European driving and running your own business, on the road. Shortly taking my HGV (LGV) class one, if you have any 'double driver' trips, i'll come along (when i've passed) foc. No problems. Cheers fella.
Used to do a weekly run from Erith to Paris then onto Milan, then back to Paris then home for nearly 3 years, loved it and never got bored of that scenery, or the food and fine wines whilst waiting 24 hrs for the return trailer in Milan, but that's another story. 🤫
I went to italy with my next door neighbour who was a continental trucker in 1990 and i remember that motorway going up,i dont do heights and it gave me the frights. I also remember coming back down mont blanc french side seeing a statue carving and john said locals call it the weeping lady, due to a story about ww2 didnt know if it was true or bull, anyone know?
I've had potatoes and tomatoes chucked at my truck before whilst going through France to Italy during farmers strikes a few bounced off the windscreen so was lucky but did suffer some minor dents to the cab, thing is I support their cause but had a load to deliver and 1 to collect back for the UK so had no time to hang about.
Back in the 80s had the police at the Aachen border pull out a gun on me as he was asking for my CMR which I didn't need as I was running loads for the British forces so was exempt from having this, but the copper was having none of it, had to pay him 200 Deutsche Marks to be let go then had to reclaim it back when home in the UK, the joys of running abroad in the 80s/90s and early 2000s was so much fun with just the maps and no mobile, stopping to pay at every peage and paper work at every border..still better than UK driving though. keep it going bud..
When i do the mont or frajiers i have to shut my drivers curtain my legs go weird cant look down , And i deliverd to the Hospital in chamonix 5 times free food and shower in the hospital . but outside in a shop it was £16 for a coffee and a biscuit ,at 1 AM.
